That is the question! This all started with buying a set of handlebar grip heaters. I decided why not change the grips to a set of Kuryakan ISO's and then started considering new handlebars as well. Sooo, my question is how much of a difference is there? I want the controls closer to me and am wondering how much they actually come back, and is there any clearance issues?? Will I gain any extra handlebar area for mounting stuff?? Opinions, please!

Note that Cardo Systems have announced an update to the Scala Rider G4 firmware. It is now v3.0. Here's the "What's New" page... These are some pretty important changes. Not sure how I'll feel about being randomly selected in a click-to-link escapade, but we'll see. Dave

Does anyone know if ANY of the premade lid covers for Harley's fit the RSTD bags? they look similar to our bag shape. Seems it would be easier than trying to get someone to make some. I'm getting things ready for spring and I would like a set of the covers. Thanks Reno

Picked up a set of covers off Ebay that weren't in the greatest shape. Had the chrome stripped off and professionally polished for $50 bucks, so I'm in them right around $150 total. Lot better price that buying a new set. Whacha think?

Hi, I drive a 2004 Midnight Venture and I am looking for a new GPS unit. I have an ten year old Garmin Nuvi 360 but it has too many restrictions. I am looking for something that I can set multi way points with and that can retrace my route. What are you folks using and what do you suggest? Thank you in advance Chris in Red Deer, Alberta

I have been asked where to get lowers for a 96 Royal Star, seeing as they did not come with them. Anyone know of a set of lowers made for the early RS.

I emailed Nanci at the link below after seeing a post in the 2nd gen tech section and inquired about making leather lid covers for the 2nd gens. She asked me if I had an old set to use as a base for making these up she could possibly make some sets. I dont but if anyone does have an old set, scuffed, cracked, or whatever and are willing to send it to her maybe she can start making these up. Thanks, Jeff http://www.acehighleathers.com/

Since there seems to be a lull in post I would like to tap the vast knowledge of this group. My brother and I are trying to set up a Car and Bike show in memory of our Dad May 14 in Virginia. I would like to know if anyone on here has every set one up and has any pointers? The site we are looking at having it has room for a couple hundred vehicles. We want to have the proceeds go to the local votech schools to support auto and bike programs.

"Congratulations! You have won..."
Guest posted a topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Last couple of weeks I get these annoying pop-ups - first audio then the pop-up shows. Some of them announce in a voice full of excitement: "Congratulations! You have won a $1000 dollar gift certificate to Walmart" or some other place, and a count down set at somewhere around 110 seconds and the seconds click by. Anyone else have that or hear of it? I suppose it is a scam? And I have my pop-up blocker set so no pop-ups are supposed to, well, pop-up, but these do anyhow. Any idea how to block these ones, unless of course it is my destiny to be come rich?- 11 replies

Well, I thought I'd like my 86 lst Edition louder so I installed a brand new set of Macs, heck they could be Jardines for all I know as they look exactly alike and boy did I have a hard time finding them. But after riding it for a few months and about 1000 miles, I couldn't wait to get the thing quieted down to stock noise levels again but I had to wait for a set of the double down turn extensions. Finally obtained those from another member here so I could reinstall the stock mufflers. She is back to being quiet. If I want noisy, I can always take my Ultra out for a spin and I really don't mind a loud sounding Harley; two cylinders of 750 cc each sure do sound differently that four cylinders of 325 each. Maybe someone here will want these Macs, don't know in this economy. I will be posting them in the Classifieds here real soon. Silence is golden.

2001 RSV with 55k miles. Went to start my bike and didn't wait for the 'clicking' fuel pump? to stop before I pressed the starter button. I quickly let off of the starter switch - the bike didn't have enough time to start but did briefly crank. I then set the ignition switch to off, then on, and no power at all; no fuel pump noise, no lights, no radio, nothing. Same thing after numerous attempts. What I have done: All fuses including the main checked and ok. Even replaced some including main. Battery terminals clean and wires secure. Battery checked and voltage is fine. Wires clean and secure to the starter relay. Replaced the ignition main switch with a new one because it was showing signs wear. Still no power when the ignition switch is set to on or acc. What else should I check?

I don't recall seeing this bike posted here before so I thought I'd set 'em up. Nice tribute to our folks in service.

Does anyone know what size the MKII carbs are. The service manual shows they are 34mm Mikuni's, but I have been told that they are 35mm Mikuni's. I would like to put a set of 35mm's on the bike, but I would want to verify this before getting a set. The Venture History tab also shows them being 34mm. I know the sliders are not interchangeable between MKI & MKII's which might indicate a venturi size change. Gary

Submitted by Saddlebum. Proper use of steering head wrench with torque wrench By the way everyone for some of you who may not be aware of this, There is a small issue you need to keep in mind when using this tool with a torque wrench. If you mount the tool on on a torque wrench at a 90 degree angle to the torque wrench . You may set the torque wrench to the exact torque spec. If you mount it at a 45 DEG. angle or straiaght in line. You have to do a small calculation to compansate for the additional length. In otherwords you set your torque wrench at a lower setting to compensate for the added length. Here are two links that will do the calculation for you as well as explain it. The second link actually gives you a pic of the torgue wrench setup. you simply fill in the boxes and it will tell you what set your torque wrench at in order to reach the desired torque. https://belknaptools.com/extensions-calculator/
