1. I can do all this with a Venture and get to listen to the radio at the same time. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Cj6ho1-G6tw&vq=medium
2. Well my hand not the only thing keeping me from riding, we going to get some snow here in Ga. tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oops, I said the S... word.................
3. Hello Everyone: My work took me to Ogallala NE, again recently. I was finally able to meet VR member dludke. Our schedules never allowed us to meet during the riding season this year. I sure appreciate this site!! I have made so many nice friends such as Doug on this site. Take care everyone.
4. Went out riding this weekend up here in Fargo ND, only 15 degrees outside with a 20 mph wind. I took the 05 RSTD and boy was it fun. I love the bike the wind coverage. I wanted to ride more but had work to do. So Thanksgiving will be the next time out. God did I say I love this bike.
5. OK, I've heard some remarks about VR.Org being an Eating Club with a Riding Disorder. Wondered if anybody has been watching 'Hairy Bikers' on the HISP cable channel. They ain't riding Ventures, but would fit in here really well..... Even the wife get's a kick out of them, and I find myself laughing.... a lot.... My kinda folks...
6. This has been a good fall (weather wise) for riding. At least it has been for me here in the great state of Arkansas.... I haven't been around this site very long but it seems there aren't many ride reports with pics. I for one enjoy reading about member rides and seeing the pictures from other areas. Here are a few pics from a recent ride up hwy 7 and a stop on the little red river. Show us your fall pics...................later, yammer 2k1
7. Well, I'll be back to work tomorrow, but the doctor said next riding year looks like it will be my next.....SUCKS big time
8. Heading to the TN and NC mountains this weekend, and the low's are looking like they will be in the 30's, so it's time to hook up the Gerbin's. Should be a beautiful ride though. Riding 2-up this time, as the wife's shoulder is acting up and the doc has grounded her from riding her own bike. Any word on running two sets of Gerbin heated gloves off the battery as far as overload is concerned? We've not done that before and I don't want to have any electrical problems so far from home.
9. Some local riders (approximately 400 of them) came out to protest the safety of one of our main highways and one of the most beautiful riding roads around our area. A road that guys like Rocket and thousands of others have to drive every day to get to and from work. My friend Jana was killed on his motorcycle in July this year on the access highway to this road by a drunk driver that crossed the center line at noon on a holiday weekend and now another local rider lost his life last weekend when a car crossed the center and hit him head on at 50 mph each. The car driver it seems had a medical issue causing the accident but a barrier would have saved the rider at least. It does make some of us and our loved ones scared every time we start up our bikes. I would have been riding with Jana in July if I had not gone to a family reunion for my wife's family. http://www.timescolonist.com/news/Motorcyclists+demand+improved+safety+Malahat/5665455/story.html Be safe out there, I now a lot of you have parked for the winter but here riding is a 12 month a year hobby. Kevin
10. I know there are a bunch of you out there that can't see has anybody tried any of the rx safety glasses for riding. I,m needing a pair for work and riding. they must be wrap around design for work and wind protection on the bike. Yahoo listed several companies that supply these just wondering if anyone has used any of them and there results. who is good to do business with etc...
11. Would like some feedback from those who ride 2up. New to site here, been riding a honda vtx1300S last few years, wife just recently riding along more so looking for a better ride for her mostly in particular on longer trips. Any others from a x1300 background as to how the venture compares at highway speeds or any other areas for that matter. I have looked at GW, HD, etc but giving the venture a look. Smoother ride with the v4, more room to stretch out (compared to GW, sport/touring bikes, etc. I'm 6'2"). I'm in the early stages of looking so any constructive comments welcome and appreciated.
12. Boomer and I are fixing to be heading out shortly for Blairsville, Ga. We'll be riding the Dragon tomorow, looks like it's gonna be a little chilly. Oh well, ready for the adventure.
13. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s320x320/296444_293610400668331_100000581216938_1110955_1948879503_n.jpg I thought this is what we all need to have riding and watching over us.
14. A group of riders are leaving from the Dallas/Ft Worth area on Saturday the 29th to ride Talimena for the fall colors. We plan on riding to Mena Ar (about 290 miles) on Saturday, spending the nite and riding the Talimena Byway on Sunday and returning back to the DFW area that afternoon. Everyone's invited, just let us know where you would like to join up. We're starting from Irving at 6am. Most of the guys are HD riders but I'm not holding that against them, they just haven't come around to a good scooter yet. LOL
15. I once ask a question about riding boots and got this reply. Motorcycle riding boots that are made well should have a wide and thick sole with tall leather tops. Thick sole - to help protect from the very hot blacktop surface. Wide sole - to help stabilize you when stopped with a heavy bike. Tall leather tops - to protect you from the pipes and the motor heat. I bought a pair of Harley Davidson boots and took the copper/brass emblem off from the side of the sole and replaced the emblem with another that a friend made for me that said Yamaha. They say HD on them high on the boot but it is covered by my pants.
16. I have an Angel watching me because she kept me from getting killed or badly injured today. Took a ride throught Ohio and Pa with friends. We were heading to Fatboys biker hangout we like to ride to and get lunch when the weather is nice. We made a left turn onto a two lane highway and then approached a road that would be a right turn. I was looking at the leaves, a pretty girl was smiling at me from a car or I was just taking in the enjoyment of the ride. I WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION! Woody activated his right turn signal and I missed it. The next thing I knew I had a Road Star turning in front of me! Life slowed to a crawl. I locked up both wheels in a panic manuver. The Royal Star was sliding back and forth like a snake on a griddle. I knew Woody could see me and I wanted him to just get out of the way. I could see the accident coming. Woody brought his years of riding experience from somewhere and gunned the Harley out of my way. I watched him hoping for a chance to just slip behind him. How we missed each other I will never know. I just made it behind him in a crossing pattern. I am 56 and on heart medication. I wonder if I should even keep riding sometimes.
17. Just wanted to share my recent experience w/ riding all day. I've had my 04 RSMV for about a month now and done a few 150-200 mi days. Based on that I was execting the outcome of an all day to be good. Well.... I just took some folks to Daytona and back. We covered appx 1500 mi's, the last day being an all day of about 550mi. I've been working my way up to a full touring bike and just moved to the RSV from a Roadstar. The R* would've beat me up pretty good on this trip. The Venture was a DREAM. I had no comfort or performance issues whatsoever. Rode 11hr's on Sunday with a few short gas breaks and when I got home I felt like I could do an another 11hrs with no trouble. The Venture came with Russell All-Day seats that were custom made for the PO. Luckily he and I are of similar build. The seat felt strange when I first got on it but now I love it. Guess that's why the call them "all day".

19. Marita and I went to Arcade and spent Sunday afternoon with Bob (bongobobny) and Becky. we spent part of the afternoon riding the old steam train to Attica and back and then the other part eating at the The Hearth Restaurant, across from pioneer motor sports. Sorry Carl but you are no longer exclusive, Marita has now met and liked another Venturerider couple and on top of that I think Marita thought Bob was better looking ........Then you, NOT ME. so don't even think it. The weather was cold and wet, but the friendship very warm and the We both enjoyed riding the train. BTW Wayne I have something for you, I sent you a PM

21. Well it looks like my riding season will end on the 13th of september.. I will be going in for rotator cuff surgery. Riding season is short enough here in wisconsin this just makes it shorter..:sick:
22. Got back Sunday after a quick BBQ tour to complete my Smoke Chasing requirements (fund raiser for Eddie's Roads). Ate BBQ in Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Left Friday from Fond du Lac, WI at 1:30 in the afternoon and got home Sunday night at 6:30. 1842 miles in 55 hours. Good food, good miles, good times. Here are a couple of pics that highlighted the trip (above and beyond the BBQ). First, was parked between two nice, shiny HDs in front of Jack's BBQ in downtown Nashville, TN. My bike is set up for touring (aux. fuel tank, cables everywhere, etc.) and was dirty from riding in the rain. As I prepare to take off after eating BBQ (Yummm!! Good stuff at Jack's), this young lady asked if she could sit on my bike to get her picture taken. Ummmmm, YEAH!!! Second, on the north side of Chicago, I surpassed the 100,000 mile mark on the Venture. Had to pull over and document the occasion. Just about time to put the bike away and break out the guns. Been a good riding season. RR
23. T.J.

Jury Duty

I was called in for jury selection. I never was picked so I didn't have to serve but I stayed for the court action. It had to do with self defence. Who was right and who was wrong. They will finish up on Monday. I met a man from Royal Oak Mi. and some how we got to talking about motorcycles. Imagen that. :whistling:Anyway he rides a 07 Venture. I told him about this sight and said he would check it out. He will probably check in as DD. Keep an eye out for him Don. His name is Don also. Nice guy and does alot of riding. Everyone have agreat weekend if ya want to. Suppose to rain for us, so won't be doing to much riding.
24. I thought I would start this thread to see what my fellow riders do to stay in shape for riding. It seems as I am getting older I am finding certain aspects of riding becoming harder on me and the need to get back and stay in shape becomes more apparent to me everytime I ride.
25. Just got back last night after a 6 day, 2000 mile trip from ATL to PA and back, with lots of stops in between, and while the '99 RSV ran great with no mechanical issues, my MPG's were awful. The best I got was 32 on straight stretches of highway riding at an average speed of 72mph. The best overall mileage I got on combined highway/local roads was 35. Either my carbs are way out of whack, or the 10% ethanol is really killing my performance. All other maintenance areas were addressed before the trip, including all fluids and filters. And since the fuel injected Ultras I was riding with all got 42+mpg's on ethanol gas, I'm guessing I need a carb tune to determine if this is the problem. Any north GA area members that have a carb tune kit, I'd love to hook up with you!
