1. Was just wondering who has ridden the most miles in one day. I did a little over 700 miles yesterday which is not alot compared to some but it was the farthest I have been in a day. Actually it was 11 hours but I only stopped for gas, to load the trailer with oysters and about 10 minutes to shove a burger down my neck. I was trying to beat the rain and it worked this time!
2. I am looking at getting this tail light Item: GEN32-1157 http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/vstar_genesis_small.jpgfrom h ttp://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm and these turn signal http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/genesis_flat.jpg And these for running lights http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/3FunctionSmFINAL.gif Is anyone using those and do I need a load equalizer to run all that gear? Thanks in advance
3. Whenever I click the forums buttons, either on top or sides the page starts to load then nada. Anybody else having this problem?
4. Thank you, to all of you, for all your support and prayer's. It is after our set deadline and I still have not heard from im. I have contact our dispatcher, to see if he could locate him on the qualcom yet, however, no answer. I'm clued to the phone but I also have to bring my load back to Minneapolis. It is kind of hard to concentrate on driving at the moment. Will let you know as soon I hear anything. Again, thanks to all. Renate
5. Hey guys, hope you all had a great week! Did all the testing of components, cleaning cable ends, ETC, we discussed earlier last week. Everything checked out! I tested the battery with a standard auto battery load tester, it tested good. SO, after everything else checked out, I took the battery to a friend that has a truck shop and put a 24 volt load test on it, the meter dropped to BAD in 2 seconds. He thought it was a intermittent short in the battery and it took the extra heat to finally burn it into?.?.?... What ever, I put in a Odessey PC 680 and it fired off like new again! Drove all over town and made several stops, NO problems!! Battery Outfitters in Rogers, Arkansas is a dealer if anyone close to them ($95 out the door). Most dealers charge about $121 delivered to your door. Thanks again for all the help on my problem!!! Gary C Ft Smith, Ark area
6. My 84 Venture Std. has this rear tire: 140/90-16 Michelin Hi-Tour A66, that came with the bike when I bought it last summer. It is a 71H. The wife and I are at maximum load without any "Stuff" in the bags. This tire is actually 148mm wide inflated. There is still more than 5 mm or .2" between the tire and the drive shaft housing. Any one tried a 150/90-16 rear? 1. It would have a higher load rating. 2. It theorically would be .4" wider (but mine is already 8mm or .3" wider), the speedometer would be 1.5 slower (more accurate) due to larger diameter .7" and circumference 2.2". (Plenty of room) On the front I could not use a larger tire. The fender is very close to the tire. But 65H is not overloaded.
7. I'm wondering if these '85 Venture CBs will like typical "truck stop" CB antennas as long as the SWR meters out. Also, can't a splitter be used to incorporate the stereo with that one antenna? AND aren't TOP LOAD antennas better than BOTTOM LOAD for bikes?

New Avons

Ok, just installed the new venoms! can't wait to try them out! What pressures everyone running? I do a lot of two up riding. Also, load limits just under 900#? Kinda light for an 875# bike?
9. I couldn't find the Federal 165/80-15.. Seems Tire Warehouse had a inventory glitch and don't have any... So I just bought a Kuhmo Power Star 758 on Ebay for $68.58 shipped. http://www.tyretown.com/upload/products/1218.jpg 165/80TR15 . Treadwear: 400 Traction: A Temperature: B400 A B Speed Rating “T” = 118mph (190kph) 87T Load Index 87 = 1201lbs (545kg) per tire Max. 10. I'm trying to get a non running 84VR from PA to GA. What I really would like to do is ride my 87 VR :7_6_3[1]:up there via Blue Ridge Pkwy/Skyline Drive towing a trailer that I can load 84 VR on and tow back via interstate. Is it possible to come up with some trailer configuration considering weight/load distribution to safely tow one VR with another one? Does anyone have any experience doing this, is it possible. Does anyone have any advice? __________________

12. I was wondering if Avon had any plans to manufacture a front Wide White Wall tire for the RSV's and asked for a comment on the MT90 for the front. Attached is there answer. I questioned one of the comments and asked for a explanation and the answer is attached, as well. The answer is just the manufacturers opinion, which I am sure is standard policy (CYA), so please take it for what it is worth. I know many have tried it and liked it and do not have any concerns or problems. Myself personally I would prefer to stick to the stock sizes. Brad Thank you for contacting Avon Tyres. At this time we in the North American office of Avon Tyres have heard no plans to produce your front tire as a WWW. As for using the MT90 instead of the 150 we cannot recommend this because you will be dropping in dimensions. The MT90 has a higher load rating due to it's belted construction making it a reinforced tire but because of it's smaller dimensions it will not hold up to the bike as well and you will be loosing contact patch width. This fitment may work well for some people but due to the size of the bike we don't recommend it. Let us know if you have any more questions. Thank you for your interest in Avon Tyres and ride safely. Hello Brad, sorry I didn't get back to you right away. Our policy is to never recommend a tire of lower specs. This includes both load & speed ratings as well as overall dimensions. In most cases a larger tire always has more load carrying capacity due to a wider contact patch dispersing the weight through more tire. Adding belted construction will raise the load rating but is done to ensure that the tire will keep it's general uniformity under heavier loads. Even though a tire is belted, it's contact patch should still be sufficient to get the best grip. A tires load carrying abilities is important but it's level of grip is also very important. Another con to having a smaller contact patch is possible cupping issues with the rubber as well as other strange wear characteristics. The casing may be reinforced but the rubber is not. We reinforced the MT90 so much because we don't think that it is a large enough tire for such large bikes and with our modifications to the tire it works well for what it was originally fitted to. But we still don't want to recommend other bikes that require wider tires to switch to the MT90 especially if we have the proper size for that application. I hope this answers your questions and please let me know if you have any more. Avon Customer Service c/o Hoppe & Assoc, Inc. PO. Box 5112 Lynnwood, WA 98036 USA Tel: 800-624-7470, Fax: 425-771-4246
13. Help !!! I cannot get on Chat, never could, all I get is a blank white screen... Do I need to down load something, or does it just not like me???
14. ...that I can only get an Avon front tire in wide whitewall if I go with the smaller sized tire? I don't want the smaller front but want the load capacity of the Avon rear since I trailer often. And I don't want to mismatch tire brands.
15. Lately I've been noticing sort of a glitch in the throttle when slowly cruising in low gears... 1st or 2nd..., without a load on the motor. The throttle is either on or off, and it makes it kinda tuff to maintain a steady speed. As long as I keep a load on the motor in say 3rd or 4th it responds fine, except the R's are way down. When in the lower gears if I let off on the throttle just a bit it's like I've rolled it completely off. It's getting herky jerky in street traffic.... The bike idles fine, and excellerates fine, and seems to have plenty of power, but the H&J is getting to be anoying. Out on the highway it seems to work fine at say 4200 in 5th. I also noticed a big drop in my fuel milage. Got 50+ during the ride to VWIII, but 38mpg to Fort Collins and up to now.. Any thoughts????
16. Hey Guys/Gals: Thought I would post this so if any one else has this problem I might help. Purchased from Custom Dynamics LED boards to replace both the front and rear turn signals on an 05 RSV. Also purchased a 4 amp load equalizer from them as well (turned out to be a Kuryakyn 4807 load equalizer). Changed out the bulbs on the left side placed the load equalizer on the rear harness, turned on the key to "ON" and the blink rate was fast, went to the local shop and got a 2 amp and wired it in to the front harness. Still no change in the blink rate. Wrote to Kuryakyn for help. Since the fairing was split and the seat off I decided to move the bike to the side of my garage. Started the bike up and for the "hell of it" hit the directional signal switch, damn if they didn't blink at the normal rate. Go figure!!!!!!! So if any of you have replaced your lights with LED's and fine the blink rate fast added a load equalizer and it is still fast, kick the bike over, they may slow down. Figured I would give you this piece of advice so others will not have go through the same thing as I did. BTW 116 & 1157 have a 2amp draw, so a 2amp load equalizer on both harnesses should do the trick. Sponge Bob Tucson AZ It's a dry heat.
17. Here's the pictures from this weekend. I tried to get pics of what they were doing, but hopefully you can get the idea. I couldn't get too close without getting in the way. Also they always had their hands in the way. I know how dare they! Anyway the first few are the last pics I took I now know to make sure I load up the last 100 pics or whatever is over 100 first or else when you do it loads the rest up in the first pages. Oh well. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Muffinmans%20colortune%20weekend%20March%2022nd%202008/ Hope you enjoy. Margaret

Very interesting ...

Here's a neat 3 wheeler ... http://www.carver-worldwide.com/Movies/LoadMovie.asp?S_ID=64&nc=1 Give the video some time to load. Cheers,
19. Your thoughts please? This is a serious matter. Rear tire load capacity varies by make of tire but lets say the average is 850lb. If a Yamaha venture weights 800 lb how much weight is riding on the rear tire? Now at 70 mph the front end gets lighter so does more of the weight transfer to the rear? Add a 250 lb rider and 150 lb passenger now what do we have on the rear? Fill the saddle bags and maybe 25lb tongue weight for the trailer. Is it possible we are overloading the rear tire load rating?Yea I know put the rear on a set of scales when loaded but how much extra weight at 70mph? Not complaining just thinking snow on the ground and nothing else to do.
20. I have been waiting an hour for it to load with no luck; and it is not the first time....

89 owners manual

Is there anywhere that I can down load an owners manual????
22. I have a '99 RSV and have had no problems with it for the 3 months that I have owned it. However, recently when I am out riding and am running the bike under load (climbing a hill or accelerating from a dead stop) the speakers cut out. It only does this under load. I thought it might be the MP3 jack because that is what I am usually listening to but it does it whether I am listening to the radio or a CD as well. I am leaving this Sunday on a trip and would like it fixed before then. As far as I know there have not been any aftermarket mods done to the stereo. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
23. I have a 1986 Venture Royale. I was out riding and the instrument panel just went dark. It came back up after a bit then dark again. Brake lights are gone, turn signals, and none of the gauges work. One oddity was that when there was no load, the instrument panel would light up but any load would darken it (putting down the side stand, turning on signals, etc). Fuses are all ok. Any ideas on where to start dx this problem?
24. Can anyone help me with this? I've replaced my rear turn signals with LED clusters & installed a load equalizer to correct the flash rate. Yesterday I replaced the front running/turn lights with LED clusters as well, but after installing another load equalizer to keep the flash rate correct, the flash rate is double what it should be. Is there a specific location I need to put the load equalizer? Does it need to be somewhere inside the fairing? The first one is on the rear side of the harness under the seat. I put the other one on the other side of the harness, but it doesn't work there. I'm obviously not putting it in the right place. Any help with solving this is deeply appreciated. Thanks.
25. It seems like I have seen a search engine somewhere on this site to look for an old thread. Where do I go to find that? Also, will the smilie's stay the way they are now? It was easier when they were in their own section. I wish I knew how to down load those really funny ones that Cindy uses...but alas...challenged again on the computer of life...
