  1. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I hope i'm posting this in the proper spot. I am considering the purchase of a '99 RSV that has 18K on the clock. My first concern is the seat height of the RSV. I am 5' 7" and am wondering if I'll be able to handle the bike? Are there any other vertically challenged Venture riders out there that can give me some insight about this ? I have owned many Yamaha snowmobiles and they have all served me well. Figured it was time to try their 2 wheelers. Thanks, Jay
  2. Just got back from the Ride for Dad in Victoria. Saw a few Ventures there. Had about 1000 bikes. Impressive parade. The cops had all the streets blocked off so we could keep together. They estimate $100,000.00 raised for prostate cancer research. Going on the Ride for Life next month. I think I was a little insulted on the way there and on the way back. I went over the Malahat from Crofton. It climbs from sea level to 1200 feet fairly quickly. I got challenged by a guy in a Prius! Realy! Not a chance fella. Then on the way back I got challenged by a guy on a harley. I think he was discouraged when I pulled up beside him when he was at full speed and shifted gears.
  3. First let me say that I am electrically challenged ( boy that was kind!). I saw a cheap tach at Harbor freight in their flyer (part # 98480) and I took a chance and bought it. I have attached the instructions and I have many questions that the paperwork did not answer. 1) Will it work on the Venture even if only as a tool for syncing the carbs. 2) Do you think it is a double pulse or a single pulse. (what do I need?) 3) If it is a single pulse can something be put in line to make it work. I have seen where Harleys require a electronic gizmo to put in line to make some tachs works 4) It can be used on a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. Could I trick it and set it on 8 instead of 4 ???? Any help from you electronic Gurus would be a great help. Oh Ya.... What the heck is an "electronic signal point" as stated in the NOTE ? Remember I am electronically challenged to say the least. Tell me what else I should know about this before I hurt myself.... PLEASE Steve aka Bubber
  4. ...VStar? That bike fits Mrs. GigaWhiskey really well until she cannot reach the pegs. Inseam challenged she is but not really.
  5. Will the Venture fit in the back of a 8 foot bed pick up truck? Has anyone done this? For those of us mechically challenged and need to take it to the dealer!!!

    U.S. Map

I've noticed a lot of you have a map of the states on your messages and have colored in the states you've travelled in. I really like it and was wondering how you got it on your thread??? Eddie Flinchum--computer challenged
  7. I've been looking at Motolights over the weekend, and I got's the hots to put a set on my RSV! Anybody running Motolights (stock 35W version) along with the OEM passing lights? I'm thinking my charging system might be challenged but want to hear what others may have to say. I make it out to be an added 5 or 6 amps to add the Motolights. Smokee

    A relay does what ?

I'm hearing that some riders install a "relay" when they upgrade to other passing lamps -- what does a relay do? DREBBIN (the electrically challenged)
  9. It seems like I have seen a search engine somewhere on this site to look for an old thread. Where do I go to find that? Also, will the smilie's stay the way they are now? It was easier when they were in their own section. I wish I knew how to down load those really funny ones that Cindy uses...but alas...challenged again on the computer of life...
