  1. My rear shock blew out on me as I was riding a couple of months ago. It sounded like I had run over an empty water bottle with the top on it. Now I am hoping there is a kit or a way to rebuild it. I'm guessing a new one from "Mama YAMA" will be pretty pricey! Any ideas? (stupid question with this group?):
  2. So, I went to the local dealer and they had a couple of intercom sets. I checked and they are about $350 elsewhere and about another $100 for an extra headset. I picked up both complete sets and was just going to take a headset out of one to complete the set (passenger and rider) and install it on my bike. Well it is not going to work for me cuz my wife only wears a half helmet. I got them at 200 a piece, so that is what I will sell them for to anyone that might want it from here. I will be posting it on EBay next week if not. Let me know. They are both new in the box. Search autocom kit 300 on Google and you can see the specs. Thanks Adam
  3. ok got to test a goldwing trike. did not seem to like it.. its a conversion setup. voyager something??? well the dealer said it takes getting use to. you got that right. i started out made a left turn and the damn bike plowed?? reminds me of the old snowmobiles turn but keep going straight? well i made it out on the main rode it was fun. kept wanting to put my feet down at stop signs though. my height and stuff the bike fit kind of nice.. plenty of power. smooth shiffting. and price not bad. i was just out looking. cant afford it.. just pulled in with the old venture to rest and look around. got an offer of $1200 on the venture for a trade. but the wing was a little over 11k.. 2007 with 44k on it i thought that was high? but dont know what the kit cost to make it a trike.. dealer was sure trying to push it on anyone who seemed interested.. then i asked him how much for my bike outright? he said they dont buy that old of a bike.. WTF he wanted it if i traded it though? someday i will maybe go for a trike. but i think i will look here first... or get a good kit for a first gen.. well thats my day for today...
  4. I was thing my nex bike I might get a Goldwing. For some reason I was looking on Greg List. I ran across this add. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/1932148949.html It look like a good price for the condition it looks like it in $5300. I look at the retail value up on KBB $6565 and Trade in value (Good Condition) $4525. The Voyager kit is $4095 Which I would take off and store it So I email the guy no phone number on the add. I was going to go look at it. But the bike is not in Indy it in Montana. Here is the email the seller sent me. Hello, I am selling this motorcycle because my unit has been sent back to Afghanistan and don't want it get old in my backyard. The price is low because I need to sell it in one week. It has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident.I do have the title , clear, under my name. The motorcycle has 28,788 miles, year 1996 It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $5,300.The motorcycle is in Great Falls, MT, in case it gets sold I will take care of shipping. Let me know if you are interested, email back. Regards, Daniel Swaine If it is not a scam and some knew of someone that wanted a Voyager Kit for a Wing. You colud sell the kit and have a nice Goldwing could be a good deal. I just want buy anything like that of the net unless I can see and ride it. I was thinking I would get it for a second bike.
  5. The trailer has about 20 miles on it. Other than that it's unused. It's in California, and I'm open to reasonable offers. Comes with spare tire and extra bearing kit.
  6. I was just wondering if anyone has any feedback over THIS lowering kit? I'm also curious why this kit doesn't mention anything about relocating the brake caliper? I'm interested because these links look well made and even with conversion from the pound and shipping, they still only cost about $72. Less then half what the Baron's kit costs.
  7. I want to get a first aid kit together sometime soon to keep packed somewhere in my 1st Gen. Who keeps one on their bike? what do you have in it? have you ever used it? I see a lot of alternatives on the web - a lot of kits already put together - don't know if that's more cost effective or not. I have no idea of what I would need in a kit - kind of mind boggling to see what's out there and what they include. Thanks, Doug
  8. Before I pull the clutch cover off my bike to redo the clutch plates, I've misplaced the instruction sheets for the Barnett spring kit that the shop installed for me after the last clutch burn out.. I haven't seen one of these before on a bike, so not sure what to expect and of course would like to avoid as much down time as possible.. Is it another big plate held down by 6 bolts with an 8 lbs torque? Or is there a little more to it than that? Thanks in advance.. hoping to get this done today whilst it's raining..
  9. Has anyone installed one of these ? http://store.bazooka.com/Assets/ProductImages/382.jpg MC-YAM-AMK - Yamaha Venture 99-07 4 Channel Motorcycle Amp Kit Model #: MC-YAM-AMK Already upgraded your speakers, but still not enough? The NEW Bazooka motorcycle amp kit includes our FAST-YAM Plug and Play interface cable with OEM connectors that plug directly into the factory Yamaha harness, and our 4 channel 200W amplifier. This allows for seamless integration of the amplifier into the Yamaha system and maintains full use of all factory handle bar controls. The MC-YAM-AMK motorcycle audio kit works on all Venture bikes. Includes auxiliary output plug for an optional amplified BTA6100 Bazooka Bass Tube subwoofer that can be installed into the trunk. (BTA6100 and FAST-HON-SIK subwoofer installation kit sold separately) This Amp Kit is 2 Ohm stable and works with any brand of speakers whether 2 ohm or 4 Ohm. If someone did how bad was the install and how did you like it after. Looking for some better tunes and sound. I have the polk speakers front now but would like more.
  10. I'm looking for a compact but comprehensive first aid kit for the Venture. I have one that's just to large 12"X 10"X 3". When my wife and I travel together that kit take up to much room. So what does everyone else have?
  11. Does anyone use a Voyager kt on their 1st Gen?
  12. I'm new to the forum here but I've been doing some reading on lowering the RSV and I think the route I want to take is to lower the back with the Baron's kit 1" and do the front forks the 1-1/2" with the Barons kit as well. I just wanted to ask if anyone has any feedback on the front kit? I see it has progressive springs, which I loved on my Shadow. The kit is HERE. It doesn't say RSV, but isn't the RS Tour Deluxe the same basic chassis?
  13. My local Yamaha dealer called Yamaha for me and got the part number for the I basket, as no one at the three previous dealers could find on the sku. 4xy-16150-09-00 and its a little over 400 smackers. While I was there i was told about a Big Air kit which includes K$N air filters and new jets. Anyone out there know of these? Thanks ron:mustache:
  14. Does anyone know where I can buy a complete rebuilt kit worth the money? Do they even make a complete rebuilt kit? By complete I mean one that has everything for the internal instead of having to buy jets and other things seperate. Or does anyone have a set of carbs that are ready to go on for sale? excuse my ignorance on this carb stuff but I gotta learn eventually to do things myself because the shops are just getting higher in price.
  15. Doing the 2nd gear fix on my 83. I've read numerous posts here on different parts to order. Is there a " kit " from Yamaha that contains the minimum parts to order?
  16. Yes I know its been pounded like a nail but i wanted to let everyone know that i am know making and selling these kits, with hardware, minus the clamps for $40 shipped on eBay out of ALUMINUM! LINK : CLICKY CLICK CLICK I know this is a popular mod for you guys, and i did it on my bike, and i am impressed by the sound. I have been trying to fill the gaps between jobs and college by scrapping metal and fabricating truck racks, and i thought this might be a good opportunity for me. I put my best work into these, and sell them as if they were going on my bike. Thanks for taking the time.
  17. Ok I searched and did not find my answer. So I am guessing this is going to be a dumb question. I am going to order a Carbtune Kit. There are different size plugs available, which ones do I choose? Thanks, Shane
  18. I saw a post about this from a few years ago. Just wondering if anyone has done a full on stage one upgrade? The baron big air kit lets it breath and give you more fuel and a full exhaust upgrade (2") will finish it off. http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/254/index.html
  19. After owning my 83 VR for year I'm finally getting round to fixing a few of the niggles including the second gear (currently in the process of removing the engine - gratefully assisted by all the articles on this site.) I have question on the Second Gear kit for those that have used it before I order it - Does it contain anything more than the four parts listed? I ask as the cost of the four individual parts appears to be less (a lot less in some places) than the kit, so is there something extra? As an aside I tried the Battery Sensor fix and couldn't get it to work with the 1K, 2.2K or variable resistors, so I disabled it directly on the CMS circuit board by breaking the relevant circuit and using a pull down resistor. I can take pictures if anyone is interested. Also I had a fun issue with the flashers (or indicators for any of us Brits) - they only worked when turned to the left. Turned out the Hazard Switch had some loose contacts than only made contact depending on gravity. Great site BTW with lots of useful information.
  20. I hope the pics of my trike come thru.07 rsv with hannigan kit 380 miles
  21. So from reading other clutch threads it seems you can just double up the clutch spring and get a better feel. I've been thinking about the PWC clutch kit, but concerned that several people have complained about the change in friction point on the clutch lever. Does doubling up the stock spring do that also? And if not, does anyone that upgraded to the PWC have a stock spring they want to get ride of. Also instead of the PWC kit, can one just get the PWC heavier spring, I read someone here didn't like the feel of the kit and just used the spring, but I can't see paying for the whole kit if I just need the spring.
  22. Anyone need a jet kit for early 2nd Gen? there is one posted on the Yamaha Motorcycle forum http://www.yamahamotorcycleforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21369
  23. I bought my 08 with a lowering kit in the rear, front is still stock height. Thanks to a member (Big Tom) I now have the stock dog bones to put it back to stock. I can flat foot it with the kit in it know but I was thinking the ride may be better 2 up if I go back but I'm not sure of the footing. I plan on doing a butler seat mod as well and maybe lower the front? so that may help also going back to stock height. I'm wondering what kind of project it would be? Any thoughts or tips would be great, Thanks
  24. Been meaning to post this but been tied up as of late. Last weekend I had tightened my steering head bearings and removed the bars to get better access to the nut. I believe in the process I may have pull the little tube on the balance kit a little and when I took it to work the next day, the tube on the right fork came loose. I noticed this because I had some fork oil running down the fork. I didn't notice any adverse handling, and I am assuming that this because when the tube came off, the forks "balanced" out to 0 PSI. However, what does concerns me is that I lost some of the fork oil. How much "loss" should I be concerned with? Doesn't look like I lost a whole lot, but it is kinda hard to tell as oil, as most of you know, seems to spread easily Also, do I absolutely need the little white thing that slips over the tube and the nipple, as it seems to have disappeared, and would a small zip tie work as a decent replacement, if needed? Thanks in advance
  25. since i have lost 235 pounds ( i think 175 pounds were muscle) i am having trouble handling my venture.. it seem to have gained 400 pounds.. so i have decided to build a trike kit similar to the voyager trike kit.. being as money is the issue.. so i called my insurance man, and got the ok from him, that it is ok... so i have started my prototype.. so far this is where i am at.. if anyone with avoyager kit could send me pictures of how it hooks up to the rear of the bike, and the setup on the voyager frame that would help..
