  1. Anyone have a stock (black) ignition cover that they don't need anymore? I have a chrome one and don't like it. Shows every little scratch or mark much more than a black one would. If you have one and would like to part with it pls let me know. I can get one very reasonably from Pinwall.....except for the high shipping fees. I've even thought of painting my chrome one, but like the "textured" look of the stock one better.
  2. I bought a chrome tank cover and liked the look, but since have bought a Clearview shield and with the more swept back angle of the Clearview the chrome reflects right in the viewing path, so I have put the black one back on.. Anyone looking to get a chrome one, I'll let this one go cheap, it is just sitting on the shelf in my garage.
  3. It just goes to show that when it comes to motorcycles....there is no generation gap! Here's a pix of the youngest Cody rider and the oldest having a good time talkin' chrome on top of Beartooth Pass! (I'm not even gonna mention the rest of you that tried to teach him your bad habits!!! )
  4. Hey guys... I just got an email from Chrome glow- that's where everyone gets that great LED light bar that's in so many posts... (they also have the LED tail light). I told them about the forum and they sent me this: "In with your order I have included a 10% off coupon for your next purchase. Also, if you could post a promo code on the forum that would be great. This is an un-advertised special of 5% off entire order. Use promo venture5 " Looks like there's now one more advantage to being a VR member!!!
  5. We took a little ride last Saturday and as we were coming to a stop at an intersection the Honda VTX behind us failed to stop and at slow speed nailed our right saddlebag. The results were that the right side chrome "bumper" and turn signal were destroyed and the saddlebag lower was dented and distorted. Fortunately no one was injured and the damage was pretty light. I have a white and tan (I don't know the color names.) 1988 Royale and now need the chrome "bumper", turn signal, and lower saddlebag for the right side. This is basically the saddlebag assembly less the top as I have that in good condition still. If anyone has these parts and would like to sell them please let me know the details. I have seen the turn signals on ebay but have not seen the saddlebag in the tan (light brown) color from '88. I do not want to have to paint the parts, just put them on. Just lazy I guess... Thanks! Don
  6. I posted this in the new member section but after thnking about it feel it should be here. Well let me start off by saying hello to you all! I’m just about ready to buy a 03 Venture it has 13700 miles and is in great condition. It has several extras that I know of extra brake light below trunk, chrome luggage rack, chrome saddlebag guards, driving lights, headlight, driving lights, turn signal light chrome visor rings, highway pegs and I think the leather tank piece is extra also. It also just had a new rear tire and brakes installed. This will be my first Yamaha motorcycle but I have owned several others. 94 Goldwing, 01 Kawasaki Vuclan 1500 Classic, 02 Honda VTX1800 Retro, two 03 Honda VTX1800 Retros and a 01 Harley RoadKing. I have not ridden this bike yet so how can I compare it to what I have ridden/owned? I want to get another dressed touring bike but really did not like the sitting position of the GW. So I can get this bike for $8500.00 with 2 helmets both with J&M headsets. Here is a picture of it tell me what you all think? I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s37/VictoriaVett/100_1683-1.jpg
  7. Looking for the chrome fuel pump cover for my 92 Virago 1100. So, if anyone has one for sale or has a lead on one, sure would appreciate it.
  8. At least that is what I think they are. If you have a royale, these screws/bolts are holding your radio controls to the handlebars. If you dont have a Royale, there are plastic plugs over the holes in the clutch and brake reservoirs. I am trying to mount something in those locations and cant find what bolt goes in there. Plus I'm sure the right hand one is left and thread from the looks of it. Anyone know of a store online that may have metric fine thread left hand bolts in chrome? If not chrome then stainless? if not stainless then anything? I'm sure finding a set of stock ones is like finding hen's teeth.
  9. Is this the latest in GW "safety chrome" ??
  10. Well, I got my Timberwolf mudflaps on yesterday, and love how it turned out. You holding up your extra on the back of my RSTD out at Dons MD, really did the trick. Took my time, and used SS hardware. Not sure if I'm gonna put chrome trim pcs on yet---maybe I also added a pair of bullet turn signal lenses. Thanks, Steve
  11. Wow what a weekend!! decide to address some things on the Pearl, and well ended up doing more than planned..... 14. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2239 Hope someone wants them!
  15. Ever think that chrome headlight shroud gives your 2nd gen a "cyclops" look? Here's a couple pics of mine I "cleaned up" (rather quickly) .... looks a whole lot cleaner to me now. I was contemplating getting a second chrome shroud and painting it to match the scoot just up to the forward edge and wondered what it would look like. I think I like it! 3rd pic of course is the stock one.
  16. Has anyone experianced chrome pealing off their Bub Slipons?? I used to keep the bike outside and found the vary end of the tips are loosing the chrome. The tips were on the bike when I bought last year, but were fine. Thanks,
  17. Here are a few pics of the detachable bracket i'm manufacturing & selling. This bracket has Rosette thumbscrews which make the on/off process quick & easy. There are six (6) one inch slotted holes to make the bracket fairly universal, although you may need to drill your own holes if your tour pak can't make these holes work. Can be purchased in black powder coat to match the bikes framework, unfinished (either one $199.00 + shipping) chrome plated ($325.00 + shipping). the Rosette thumbscrews will screw directly into the existing threaded (chrome capped) hole on either side of fender bracket. http://i42.tinypic.com/1hcpk0.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/5n55pu.jpg
  18. First, apologies upfront if this has already been discussed. I've typed in a few variables in the search part and couldn't find anything close so here goes....... Most of my buddies ride Harleys. What I've always admired about their bikes is that they have low cut (4" or taller) tinted windshields which are easily removable in order to change back to a larger shield for long distance riding. (Ahhhh, to have that wind-in-the-face feeling again!) So this got me to thinking about my own Venture and how I'd love to be able to switch back and forth from my huge shield to a tiny one for local rides and real hot summer days. The big problem with our bikes is removing the chrome trim on the fairing because of the design of the damn thing (those little plastic tabs! Aaaargh!). I get nervous as hell trying to remove it just to get inside to do some wiring on occasion, never mind having to remove it on a more regular basis to switch a windshield. So I began thinking up ways to come up with a 'quick' release system for the fairing. My first thought was to find some real shiny chrome screws and drill into the trim and fasten it to the fairing so that way I'd only have maybe 5 screws to remove (2 in the back, 3 upfront) in a fairly reasonable time with an electric screwdriver, then remove the screws for the windshield and make the switch. Voila! Done! But having a discussion one evening with Draegerman, we came up with a better idea. The chrome trim already utilizes 2 screws to make certain it stays put so instead of drilling holes in the trim, why not use magnets? Apparently there are some pretty heavy duty magnets available on the market nowadays that would do the job very well. Mounting them in the right place would surely hold the chrome trim in a perfect position. This way, all you have to do is remove the 2 screws and then pull out the chrome trim and not worry about those plastic tabs anymore! Now you have fast access to the windshield mounting screws and they can be removed just as quickly and switched with another shield. Sure it may take 5, maybe 10 minutes, but to have a shorter screen up front would sure be nice at times. Anybody want to add to this? Anybody come up with any other way to remove a windshield quick? I'd love to hear other ideas if anyone has one before I go and give this particular idea a try. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Bluez
  19. Have to thank a lot of you for this little gem! My bloke, Alan, likes a drop of whisky as his favourite tipple,or a good red wine. So-o-o I came up with this idea (prompted by you guys) :thumbsup2: and told him "you drink--I buy safety chrome!!" :rotf::rotf::rotf: Think I'm gonna have lots'
  20. Well, my summer officially starts Sunday night at 6:00. After 3 months of hard, manual, labor we finally have the place spruced up for our big weekend. (Folk's 50th anniversary party at our place and haven't done anything to the farm the last 5 years, cuz we've been to "busy" riding) So.....I'm thinking I derserve to treat myself. I want some chrome, but I'm too tired to come up with any idea's. What do I need to spruce her up a little? Got any idea's?
  21. There is only 1 piece (actually set) of chrome left to put on the bike. Eck this is what a clean RSV looks like :rasberry: doesn't have mud all over it like yours does. :rotf:
  22. I saw this pic and like the taillight chrome. Where can I get this? Thanks
  23. Here's the progress on the wiring as of right now. I've just got 1 more connector to replace then wire in the new and improved wiring harness, plus tie some grounds and brown leads together. Unfortunately I'm running out of chrome wire loom so that part won't get done. Our local Pep Boys is out of stock but there is a website from the manufacturer, www.spectreperformance.com so I will order from them...
  24. A new nickel-tungsten alloy developed at MIT could become the new alternative to the chrome coatings we all know and love. See the article below: http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2009/metal-0519.html The only question is will it be widely available before my scooter wears out.
  25. Got a large rock right on the chrome strip below the windshield of my rsv today. Big dent and deep scratch. I will have to replace it. Dealer closed till Tuesday. Just curious what these things cost. Anyone know?
