1. I did stupid Things yesterday... I took the '09 Vmax and rode to the Hockenheim Ring to go Drag Racing ... I did four Runs on the perfect Pro-Prepared Raceway and came home safe and sound, but very exhausted. It was a very hot Day and the Line-up Organisation was not so good. I did four Runs and came out not to good.... Here are my Results ... metric http://wkhost.webkicks.de/squeeze/Docs/09/DragZeiten.jpg and imperial http://wkhost.webkicks.de/squeeze/Docs/09/Hockenheim08082009mph.jpg I screwed up in first Run, because i realized at around 1/8 Mile, that i have some Remainder on the Throttle Grip to achieve Full Throttle. Second Runs wasn't feeling bad. My Wrist took over for a Moment in the 3rd Run because i went over a small Patch of Oil breaking the rear Tire loose for a Moment. Forth Run wasn't feeling too bad, but my Body felt exhausted and overheating, nothing special that i recall there. Times at low 12 Seconds are whimpy seeing the Bike and what other Riders do with it in US. A Buddy of mine ran 12.0 in his first Run and continously improved to 11.007 in his 4th Run. There were probably around 2 or 3 Thousand Spectators on the Stands after noon. It was Kind of Fun and truely a special Expirience, I'd do it again if there's a Chance. I ran Part of the Road Racer Track on the Way back to the Pits and this was Fun too. Closed Circuit with no oncoming Traffic ... I evened out the Profile of rear Tire immediately after flattening it out out at the Pre Start Burn Out.
2. Just noticed a strange thing with my turn signals. Other riders behind me have told me that the signals are hard to see in the daylight, they say they are dim. Well, just checking things out in my garage, I notice that when I turn the right signal on, when the bulb flashes bright, the left signals and the brake light go slightly dim. When the bulbs go back to regular "running" brightness, the other bulbs brighten back to normal intensity. The same thing occurs in reverse when I turn the left signals on. In a sense, it almost looks like alternating flashing lights when I turn the turn signals on. Anyone seen this before? Could this be a bad flasher unit? A bad ground somewhere? Kinda scratching my head on where to start.
3. Well my week started off oddly enough. I got my water bill on Sat. and it was $80 which is very strange. According to the bill I used 11500 gallons of water. I was gone a week during this time and Jeff isn't here. Normally I use about 2000 gallons a month. Went down to ask what's up with this and they said you must have a leak. So I come home and no leaks in the house but I check the meter again and write down what it says. Too late to head back so I decided to check again this morning and it was a lot higher. So I go around back and find lots of water back there. Seems the water leak was where it comes into the house. Now I panic I'm not a plumber Jeff's gone what do I do. So I called the water dept to get them to turn off the water because I don't know how to do that. Then I called ADC. He came over checked the situation got the bad stuff off and went for parts. Came back and fixed my leak turned on my water and everything is good to go. Now I don't usually call folks to help makes me feel like I'm being a bother or a pest. But I needed someone to help since I didn't know what to do. Arthur not only came over to fix it he won't let me pay him for the parts. I figure I'll get him back for that one later. Maybe at a meet if Josh wants something and dad says no. Reason I'm posting this is without this site I'd never have met Arthur even though he only lives like 10 mins away. So I want to say thank you to Arthur where everyone can see. So he knows how much I appreciate what he did. I felt kinda bad calling thinking he was at work, but he had today off. Kinda felt bad imposing on his day off. Ok now back to what you all were doing before I interrupted. Margaret
4. The whole time I've owned this Second Gen. I thought to myself how it lacked power?man this thing is really detuned? I sold my First Gen. and kept this one? WHY? It ran fair or OK on our trip to ST. Charles MO. meet, we kept up with the group OK but not what I expected from a V4 motor. Coming home on I44 doing 70-75mph we were getting around 32-35mpg not bad for fighting head winds and some rain storms but still I expected better performance. Anyway after we got home I went out to ride up to the store and it would not even pull itself out of the garage. Found I bought some bad gas, after putting in fresh gas I did some testing and found my #3 cylinder was totally dead no spark... Well after my second Knee rehab again, I finally got around to changing it out,man that was a big pain in the rear. I could not believe the power this beast has now WOW. my word this baby is ALIVE.. The Whole time I've owned this bike the #3 cylinder must have been dead! thats over 2,500mi riding time. WOW this baby is smooth....... This motor is so well built you may not know you was on three cylinders... If not for the bad gas ordeal I might have not known I had a bad coil. And to think I was getting ready to sell this Second Gen. Well I changed my mind NOW. Looking forward to ST Jude's next Month, really going to see how well this baby does on open roads!!! Now I know why I kept it and sold the First Gen. Second gen. Rocks!!!
5. Wanted: Old "Bad" Venture Coils I put a temporary sticky with this message in the General Tech area, but since I haven't heard from anyone, thought I'd give it a try here too. I was hoping some of those coils that folks have recently replaced might still be laying around! If you have one and are willing to part with it, I will happily pay for the shipping, or just ride to your place and pick it up! Thanx. ================================================================== I want to get my hands on old coils that anyone has taken off when suspecting them to be bad. Interested in coils from any models, but particularly 2nd gens. I have an old automotive oscilloscope that I want to use to try and identify what the "normal" cause of the failure is, and if there is anything we can do about it. In addition, I would like to see if I can devise some sort of test that anyone can use (without a scope or special tools) to accurately identify a bad coil. If you have changed one or more and are just going to toss the old coils, will you please send them to me instead? PM me and I'll send you my address. You can just slip one or more into a free Priority Mail flat-rate envelope (no weight limit) for $4.95. I'll gladly send you the $5 postage. Thanx, Goose
6. The rear shock on my 05 RSV will not hold air pressure for a full ride. I start out with 40# and after a days ride it is down to 20# or less. Is this normal? I have seen mention of oil leaking and I don't see anything dripping or wet. There is however a lot of grease buildup on the bottom of the shock. What should I test or look for to confirm a bad shock? What affect would a bad shock have on handling?
7. I have two questions about the diaphrams.... Question 1: I took a look at two of my diaphrams and one wasn't too bad. it was starting to get a little thin in a few areas, but not bad. It had some sort of lubrication on it, some sort of grease. The other diaphram has worn holes in it and no lubrication, it was dry. Is there some sort of lube that is supposed to be on them? Question 2: where is a place to get a decent price on 4 diaphrams? Thanks, Clay
8. Anyone who has "triked" their bike have a good used rear shock sitting around that you don't need? I think mine may be going bad.
9. Yep, not kiddin' ya,,, fed up with all this sitting around, looking at the computer screen, hobbling around on one leg,,,,reading the 'newspaper' watching all the scoots going past as though there is nothing going on,,,,,napping,,,,,eating,,,,,,,... After all the bike is ready, the weather is excellant,,, and all the bad drivers have gone south and the roads should be quiet,,,,,,,and best of all Mrs. Jopie is cooking supper,,,,,, get the cage ready hon,,, we're on or way.
10. I don't make it to the rally in Harrison, AR. I've read and read the articles about adjusting the float levels in several posts so I finally convinced myself I should at the very least check them. So I now have RSV parts strung all over two garages. I hope I remember where all them little parts go. I'm mostly just kidding but I did take them apart and adjust the level and pretty much followed Goose's write up about it. I do wish he would correct the picture so that it shows the proper way of checking the floats. Anyway mine were not to bad I guess, two of the floats were .22 and the other two were .28. I now have them adjusted to what I think is .34 if I am measuring them right. I do not have the bike back together but I have a lot of confidence it will be fine. The thing I'm really looking forward to is the 10 percent increase in gas mileage that Goose promised. BOO
11. This poor guy had a real bad day http://www.wndu.com/hometop/headlines/51749807.html
12. Well,The bad news is Debby will not be making the Rally with me..Health just will not allow it. The good News is overall She is OK just too many surgeries on the neck. The other good news is I am going to be able to make it along with no other than " Wild Hair 39" Just got off the phone with him so we are going to TRY and ride up there. I told him I will help him pick it up if his leg gives out sooooo Have the Geritol ready the two senior citizens will be pulling in Sunday night at the Hub!
13. RE: the excessive backfiring can it be caused by a bad "Air cut valve" or a bad "Reed valve" and has anyone had to replace them? and if so are there any after market ones available, and if so where from? and could this be the reason for my excessive backfiring when down shifting, as my carbs are synced properly. I shall look for your response. Thanking You..Mobile
14. Thanks for all the input, actually everyone was right on and it helped resolve the "bad new" battery problem, never had one before. Another "new" Interstate battery and it fired right up, thanks again.
15. Not mine!!! Saw this '89 at a broker in Sioux Falls, SD Not a bad looking bike from this one photo. http://www.powerbrokersinc.com/show.aspx?vid=1364515&stockno=T05192 Just putting it out there. Dave
16. I'm considering buying an inversions table. I would like to hear from anyone that has one or has used one. Good or bad. Thanks for the help.
17. Had impromptu meet&greet-maintenance and eat day on Canada day but without a ride. We worked on Wizard765's new trailer and Evan from Toronto area bike to fix a couple things. It turned out to be a not so bad day with threatening skies but no rain just a few sprinkles. Carl did a good job on the trailer and it should be done soon.We had good food & conversation. Too bad we couldn't see a few more people but maybe next year! Even talked Phanton Wife(My wife Beverly) to come and eat & converse with us for a while! Here are a few pics of trailer.
18. Wife and I were out last weekend going on a round trip ride of about 100 miles. We were at a red light at an intersection near our place shortly after leaving the house. The light turned green and I started out to make a left turn. I noticed a car coming from the left on the crossing street and figured it would stop. Luckily I kept my eye on the car as it went through the red light and intersection at about 40 mph (speed limit is 35). I hit the brakes; my wife who didn't see the car, slid forward and our helmets hit. We came to a stop about 20 feet from where we would have been clobbered. The driver appeared to be an old man who must have been startled when he saw me start out as he was looking up at the light as he went through to see what color it was. We did our trip, but I was much more careful at interesctions than I normally am, and I am normally pretty careful. Too bad no cops around then. Not all elderly drivers are bad drivers, but there are a lot of people on the road who shouldn't be there anymore. We were lucky that day. Be careful out there!!!
19. Well, My SUV has been slowly crapping out and I knew with what was coming it was going to really cost me. Yesterday, I decided to go looking for something New to trade for, before I sunk even more $ into a lost cause. BAD NEWS - Robbed My Motorcycle Trip fund -I found a 2009 Extended Cab F150 that I traded for, but to do so I had to rob my trip money for down payment. Good News - New 2009 F150 - Man is it nice to have a truck again. Actually the truck with the V8 is going to get as good or better than my SUV did and I'll have even more towing power for my enclosed trailer. Bad, Bad News - With all my trip $ gone, I will NOT be coming to the International Rally in August. Oh well, S--t happens, I'll just be riding a lot of day trips. Got to talk to LA about the HUB room I had reserved for us and see what he wants to do. You'all better take lots of pictures

21. Has anybody had any experience putting some brand of pull backs for the handlebars on a 2006 RSTD? I would like to bring my handlebars back just a tad to keep from having to stretch my arms out. Not bad, but a lil uncomfortable. Just was wanting some reccommadations from anybody who has done something similiar. Thanks, Jerry
22. Well as you all know, Eck has had his share of bad luck, gremlins, demons and crazy drivers.........so Todd and I thought he might be able to use a little extra help with getting rid of that bad Karma.........
23. It's official! The bad news is VA says my hearing is going south particularly in the higher frequencies...not quite bad enough for hearing aid(s) yet, but going away.
