  1. Saw the bike while visiting Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico...it was from Oklahoma...don't know what year...Black with armrests for the pax. Does it belong to anyone here? Just want to add that I left one of our cards on the bike, so hopefully he or she will be checking in with us.
  2. is there a ready made extension piece for the 2.5" x 2" tongue on the Harbor Freight trailer? If I add the swivel hitch from neosho trailer, how much length will that add and will it fit the 2.5" x 2" tongue?
  3. Just installed a set of passing lights on the 08 Venture but now I have a slight whistle I didn't have before. Did this happen to anyone else? I'm sure it's the lights cause I didn't add anything else. Could it be possible the fairing is the culpret? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
  4. Lowered the front end 1 inch using tech step by step instructions. (Those need to be better with photos) Now I can't add air to the front suspension because handle bars are touching the air ports. Any ideas besides removing the handlebars to add air?
  5. I am looking for ideas or suggestions on placement of additional position lights, probably amber leds on the sides of the front cowling. I replaced the rear roll bar reflectors with leds and they realy add to side visibility. I could do the same up front but don't realy want to run wires down the fork. If you have pics that would be great.
  6. Does anyone know if it is neccessary to rejet if you add the bub slip ons?I have heard conflicting data.
  7. Ive got an I pod i use on my venture. loaded the song on from my home pc. then i got a second i pod that i set up at my office. my question is , I think it i was to take hte i pod from work and plug it in at home the song on it would be replaced with the song on my home playlist right? but is there a way to say add the stuff i bought work ( on pc there ) and add it to my home playlist and or i pod? :confused24:
  8. 1. Add a $6-9 battery switch (60-70 amp available many auto supplies, ie. PepBoys) to the negative side of the battery. Mount switch next to battery (in fairing on 1st Gen.). Saves battery if bike sits for more than 2-3 weeks. 2. Add a 10 amp headlight switch to reduce the load when starting up on low/bad battery. Cut into fused side of the headlight circuit. 3. Add a 10 amp switch to turn on the radiator fan anytime. From the accessory side of fuse curcuit run power to a switch then down to the fan circuit along left side frame, light blue wire. The noise should remind you to shut off the power when engine is stopped. Use when thermostatic switch comes on too late, non functioning, or with extended idling. 4. Install individual switches for different accessories, if they don't completely shut off. (memory, clocks, CPU's) 5. Run external wires off the battery to connect a a charger so the cover does not have to be removed. Cover exposed ends well. 6. Screens on the radiator to easily remove bugs and prevent stone damage. Aluminum looks best. 7. Trunk handle- mounted to open trunk easier 8. Install power outlet for temporary accessories, car compressor, etc. 9. Magnets (strong ones) mounted on the center stand to trip stop lights, cheap at hardware stores. 10. Pull carb caps off and slide out. Replace white spacer to drop jet needle .010-.015" Needs to be deeper in emulsion tube. Increases MPG by 5. 1/2 hour job. Use small washers. 11. Drivers back rest. Mine cost $20-30. Walmart Igloo cooler. Added foam pad. Spongee corded to trunk and passeger handles. Adds a lot of storage. 12. Fork seals. Put a second set if yours are leaking on top of 1st set. Leave originals in place, they lubrication new set and last 50+k miles, 10 years longer! Use super glue around edges. 13. Add plexiglass wings around the windshield for added wind protection. Use a sharp drill and rubber washers. 14. Throttle rockers help weak wrists and reduce fatique, Ebay $10 15. Hiway forward pegs, JCWhitney, Ebay, allow legs to stretch. 16. Reposition clutch and brake levers so they are easy to reach, & even, this is a major safety item. I like them lower so my fingers do not have to wrap up over levers. 17. Lower the foot gear and rear brake levers so you do not have to lift you foot off the pegs. All are adjustable, easy job, much safer too. 18. I got more!! Questions write me chuck_french@juno.com make sure you write a decent subject line so I don't delete.
  9. Don, you at one time had put a link in a member's gallery to view the public profile. With all the recent changes, it seems to have disappeared. Would you please add that back in? I really liked that feature.
  10. I've been enjoying this site for nearly 2 years and have seen some great lookin bikes and read some really great posts from members. I've finally taken photos of my bike and just posted them. Take a look and let me know what you think. I've got a couple videos but I'm not sure how to add those. Any help in that area would be great as well. David

  12. Can someone tell me how to change the "States Traveled" maps a lot of us have so I can add new locations to it? Thanks in advance.
  13. Folks, I sent out a mailing tonight regarding the International Rally and got probably 200 bounced emails. Please check your email addresses to verify that you have them updated with your latest ones. Also, MANY of you have added spam solutions that require the sender to click on a link, go to a website and confirm who they are. I don't blame you for doing that but I just don't have time to go to all those sites and confirm it. All of those programs have "whitelists" so that you can add people that you know to them. If you wish to receive email from this site regarding private messages you receive, replies to your posts, etc., you need to add venturerider.org to your white list. Otherwise, you will not be getting any emails. I'm going to install a custom script that will automatically move members with invalid email addresses to a different usergroup. You will not be able to post until you correct the problem. Thanks for your help.
  14. Hi all, I've got a Hopnel tank bra/cover with pocket in very good condition on my '99 RSV. I'd like to trade it, straight across, for a similar condition tank bra/cover without a pocket. Reason for doing this is that I'd like to add a small tank bag to my bike but the pocket takes up too much space. Anyone interested? Doug

  16. I've noticed on several individual's post they have a "weather box" from other web sites like weatherunderground, etc. My question is how can I add this to my post's. 17. Saw this on e-bay. Was wondering if anybody has tried it. I am wanting to add more light to the rear end and this looks like a inexpensive add on. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPINNY-LED-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Midnight-Silverado_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35580QQihZ013QQitemZ230242057354QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  18. Here are the close-up pics of the dogs and gear. Thrust washer is worn almost 1/3rd of the way through. Needs undercut, huh? Wanna do it for me? Dan I'll try it again, this time I'll actually add the pictures!!!! Dooooh!
  19. I purchased a Baron's waterpump cover that has the V4 emblem on it. I was wondering what to expect when I pull the cover off. Mainly I'm worried about coolant loss. Will it all come pouring out? If so is it okay to let it pour out, and then just add some more? Thanks.
  20. I picked up a cycle magazine the other day at the clinic and the first page it opened to had a Motul add with a 1st. Gen. in it. I looked on the cover and it's from Sept. of 89. http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Rider%20Magazine.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Motul%20Add%20with%201st%20Gen.jpg
  21. http://www.corbin.com/yamaha/ylnrtrunk.shtml The NEW Venture maybe??? Found this out on Corbin's web site. Add a radio and cruise and I'd be trading!

  23. About two years ago, I upgraded my seat to a Mustang. Unfortunetly, I didn't order the one with the backrest. Now here I am wanting the backrest, but don't want to buy a whole new seat. Does anyone know how to add a backrest to a Mustang, or know of anyone who can? Mustang cannot add it on. I have to spend $700.00 for a new seat. Or better yet...knowing the ingenious members we have here, does anyone have any other possible homemade solutions? My back thanks you!
  24. I ordered one and should be getting it this coming week. Any tips for installing and setting it up? What settings (redline and advance curve number) do you guys that have one use? I have stock pipes/jetting with K&N filters will I have any jetting issues after adding the Dyna ignition or not and if I add khrome werks or bub slip ons a little later on will I then have to re-jet or is it still ok stock (not that I'm adverse to that, I'd just like to know how much I'll end up spending )?
  25. I was reading the threads a few weeks ago..about how the 1st gen. handles without the tour pak installed....Well, I thought I'd try it since Yammer Dan said the bike handled differently. Wow, I'm 5'-11 and around 160 lbs., and I can't believe it's the same bike...Handles better than I thought was possible. The VR has always felt top heavy to me..til I removed the big box...I weighed my TP and it tipped the scales at 31 pounds. Now, add stuff to the box and you can easily add 50 pounds way above the center of gravity, and you have a top heavy bike..I bought a piece of .100 thousands thick shiny aluminum tread plate from Lowes and made a luggage platform for a duffle with just clothes. All the attachment points are already available. Now, I can fill the saddle bags and that will help keep the CG low. I took pix of the set up, but have never learned how to add pix to a thread. If someone can instruct me, I'll post pix and, also, how I added a 90 degree zerk fitting to the steering head.... God, I love this stuff....
