Thom replied to Thom's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
thanks Brad , i think i'll remove the rear v cover and use a jack . Randy , i don't know but it was running so good than i hit 7000 rpm than came to a stop and a whole lot of steam came out of the rite side ex. this old motor has had a ruff life and the p/o was not a nice person but with allmost a 140,000 miles on her it's time to retire it , i have a parts bike with 50,000 on it , if i can keep it running for another 90,000 miles i'll be happy ! Dan i wish you were here to ! than we could both complane about sore backs , these V4s are heavy ! but with a hosit and the m/c jack i should get it done . Thom -
these V4 makes a great water pump , i can pump out my rad. in 8 miles rite out the ex. pipe :bawling:also it is very hard to remove a motor from from the parts bike with the wheels off [ front headers ] , i have pulled the motor mounts , drive shaft , all the wires and cables , carbs , do i have to pull the U joint ? doe's it slide out the rite side ? how come nobody said how heavy these V4s are ? it weighs more than a V8 !!! will maybe i can get the left header off tonite , when i pull the bad motor out , the wheels are staying on !!

i just drove by the M/C testing place today and a 1st , the place is open on sunday! there was at least 20 riders taking there test . today is the last time the state will give a m/c test tomorrow all new m/c rides will have to take a MSF course . Thom

hey Ruff , all of us old farts are grandfathered in , on the msf safety course and any other out of staters are ok too , we do not require insurance on a M/C in this state except 10,000 med. for riding with out a helmet , and you have to be over 21 too ride with out a helmet , riders under 21 have a tag that reads under 21 on it , the the msf course is very good because a lot of new riders fail the driving test 2 or 3 times and we have a LOT of new riders . on the sales tax , fl. has no income tax only a sales tax and charge a sale tax on everything sold in fl. but food . now on sharks , i am a diver and not missing any parts do to feeding sharks , how many scuba divers in the world are losts to sharks ?? i thinks it is safer to dive with sharks than than to ride in DC :rotfl:now surfers are another story if anybody wants more info about the laws on M/C's in fl. check out ABATE OF FLORIDA INC. i got it all put together and wow ! i am not goin to paint rite now , its to pretty to paint , i'll wait untill it needs a paint job . it pulled real funcky at 1st but i dropped the tire pres. down to 40 lbs. but i tryed to lean over the bike it tryed to hold me up rite , real funny feeling at 55 mph , backed off the coupler nut 2 1/2 turns , prefect !! put in 150 lbs in it and rode to Daytona at a high rate of speed , in and out of traffic , lov it !!! i need to carpet the inside and put a swivel hitch on it and some more led lites higher up on the box , but for all the money i saved on it i can afford alot of toys for it . Thom:thumbsup:

Thom replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
i just use stock nkg plugs , and change them more often , i have heard that spitfires can burn holes in your pistons , put a can of seafoam in 1 gal of gas than run it around the block , than the next day run down to the gas station for a full tank of gas , run that tank out than change the plugs . when storing your bike for a mouth or more dump a can of seafoam in it and run it for 15 mins. before parking it .
