  1. I got mine this week. I would like to go but it's too early to tell if our schedules will allow. The trouble is I have too many things I'd like to and too little vacation time.
  2. I had my Hannigan conversion done a year ago and love it. I prefer the design and the style. Mine was done at the Hannigan factory in Murray.
  3. I added angle iron to the lift. This along with Carbon 1 adaptor makes it very solid while off the ground. I also removed the seat and put a strap over the frame if I was going to leave it on the lift and not use the adaptor legs.
  4. Don't take this the wrong way but put yourself in garmin's position. You said you bought it second hand, out of warranty, and for dirt cheap. Would you support something presented under those conditions? Like you said, you took a $100 gamble. Garmin does support original purchasers pretty well when products are purchased through authorized dealers.
  5. Looks like the guy got just what he wanted---a bunch of attention and stir some sh**. The deputy on the other hand could have intended to bring some attention to an outdated and dumb law still on the books. In either case it worked. The rider was given a warning so it didn't cost him anything. Abuse of power, get a grip.
  6. The guy should be thankful the driver didn't shoot him. I can't think of any justification for what he did. Try to get in my truck uninvited and in a rant you'd likely be looking down the business end of a .40cal. If the driver did something stupid some things are just not worth escalating, the trouble he ended up in was his own doing and can't feel sorry for him.
  7. When you do get a demo ride on a Hannigan you will love it. I have the ezsteer and it is very smooth. You can turn pretty tight but you need the right technique, use a push and pull motion and it comes right around. Push the outboard grip and pull the inboard by keeping your elbow in close to your body. A little trial and error tweaking your technique and it becomes second nature.
  8. Why should he dignify such accusations with a response? Rick is an honest businessman, he developed the high output stator for the 2nd gen RSV over a couple years that I am aware of. Sounds to me like there are some out there just wanting to bash a good product from an honest man.
  9. A Cajun friend of ours has given up the fryer for the InfraRed cooker. It tastes every bit as good and a fraction of the clean up.
  10. It has already been said and I truly believe it, Ride like you are invisible and everyone is trying to run you down. Recently the Marine Corps deleted the reflective vest from the required personal protective equipment to ride aboard installations and for active duty personel at all times. A lengthy study determined that in motorcycle/car collisions the reflective vest had no impact on the accidents. The drivers that hit the motorcycle didn't see the bike much less the vest. My point being if the study changed the USMC view on this it must have been very compelling. Nothing wrong with wearing the gear but the guy that sees it would likely see you anyway. It's the people out there that drive like Mr Magoo that are killing motorcyclists.
  11. I like the ones that don't thaw it completely.
  12. I looked around for awhile but didn't find anything that was adaptable. I ended up putting an IPod power connector and aux plug where the cassette player used to live. That works as well as anything for now, the Ipod is powered and volume is on the audio controller. I had a USASpec Ipod adaptor that I used in my Ford 250 but they said they don't make anything compatible with the Clarion unit. If you come up with something I'd be interested. Good luck.
  13. IMO Leos don't give out enough tickets in that area, there is no shortage of knuckle headed performances on 129. We've ridden it several times and there is always at least one that is trying to kill himself or others. It's just too bad it's illegal to put a large caliber hole in thier tank on the other end. The nearby skyway is a much better ride as is a lot of other roads in NC and SC.
  14. Good to hear you stuck it out and get to see it coming back. A couple of the guys I work with bailed when it was low and really did lose then criticised those that didn't. Needless to say those that moved things around will take a lot longer to regain thier losses.
  15. The EZ Steer on my Hannigan conversion lowered the front slightly. As for the rear lowering kit doesn't that mount on rear shock? If so Hannigan doesn't use the rear shock or swingarm at all so that should not be a problem.
  16. My brother in law has a Hannigan sidecar on his BMW and loves it.
  17. http://www.scdmvonline.com/DMVNew/default.aspx Three-Wheel Motorcycle Endorsement On June 2, 2009, Governor Sanford signed a new law concerning three-wheel motorcycles. Because of this law change, a three-wheel motorcycle endorsement is no longer required to operate a three-wheel motorcycle. Citizens can now operate a three-wheel motorcycle with any class of license except a moped class G license. This law change excludes a motorcycle with a detachable side car. To operate a motorcycle with a detachable side car, the customer must hold a class M motorcycle license. SCDMV will no longer administer three-wheel motorcycle tests. To operate a trike you don't even need a motorcycle endorsement at all now. Before June there was a program to liscense trike drivers but it was canned. A guess on my part but I think the process was too expensive considering the number of people that needed one. I did get as far as taking the written test and getting "learners permit" for my trike before it was cancelled.
  18. A friend of ours was there during that period and is quite sick with cancer and he has an adult daughter with a birth defect. There is something to it, now just if the VA would recognize it.
  19. From what I understand the european models don't have CBs either, I think the north american models are the only ones.
  20. I used the outlet under the seat to power the GPS, since it is already switched with the ignition it's convenient.
  21. After reading all the negative comments on trailers I wonder why anyone should care what the next guy does with his gear. If I choose to trailer my bike to a destination to ride for a few days I don't figure I owe anyone an explanation. Maybe some of the critics just wish they had a descent trailer?? Condor summed up the best reasons for trailering over long distances.
  22. How about it's a matter of convenience and preference, and you can bring a bigger cooler. If you can afford the extra toys why not?
  23. Here's a link to Hannigan's price list, they call them foot fairings. I didn't get them when I had the conversion but they do look good. I rode one that had them and like 1-Up said it's hard to back up unless your legs are really long. http://hannigantrikes.com/content/xSpecsPDF/yamaha-Spacs.pdf
  24. No problem, I'm not in any hurry. I just can't find mine. It's been so long since I've used it I can't find it when I wanted it last week. It will turn up sooner or later, hopefully before I need it again.
