When I did some paint work on my bike I used a paint cleaner to remove all the dirt and oil from the surfaces and then I used a special adhesion spray for plastic to treat the surface before applying the paint. It's been more than a year and no problems. I've been considering adding a matching gold strip to my piggy backer this year. Dave

Mom says grandpa has to wait on giving rides until the kids can plant their feet on the passenger footboards. Anybody have something to make them temporarily higher??? My older two grandsons want to ride all the time, but, at 4 and 2 I think it's going to be a couple more years. Dave

Have a safe trip and if you come back this way, we'll still be here. Dave

Condor- When I filled the bike on Tuesday night, 87 octane was 3.999 here in Salt Lake and contains no ethanol. We would love to have you visit as you come through, we have room if you would like to sack out. Price could change overnight but that's where we are now. Dave & Jan

Utah trip coming up soon, any recommendations?
utadventure replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
Dennis- I don't know the name of the restaurant in Moab, but there is an Italian restaurant accross the street from the visitors center in the center of town. My family has eaten there numerous times over the years. Jan's Aunt and Uncle live in Rockville (town next to Springdale) and the locals like Oscar's in Springdale. It's just off of the main road and serves excellent mexican food. The address is: 948 Zion Park Blvd Springdale, UT It's a right hand turn off of the highway a little bit after you exit Zion's park. Have a fantastic trip. Wish we could join you. Dave:thumbsup: -
Try the Viragotech.com website. Lots of information and might help you find what you need. Dave

Rod- You'll love So. Utah's parks and beauty. If you're driving up, you'll enjoy the Virgin River Gorge (between Mesquite and St. George). Springdale is the entrance to Zion's Nat'l Park. Enjoy lunch or dinner on the patio at Oscar's Restaurant. Good food and great ambiance. It's just off of the main road, the locals like it so you'll have to ask to find it. Bryce Canyon is a short visit once you're there. Don't plan more than a hour or so at the park. If I were going, I'd suggest taking a couple of days and going over to Arches Nat'l Park just outside of Moab. It's a great park and has numerous hikes ranging from easy to hard. Delicate Arch is a must see!! Now you have me dreaming about going. Wish I could!! Have a great trip and feel free to contact me if I can help. Dave

1st Gen Audio Wiring
utadventure replied to Props's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd been thinking about adding a jack to the bike for the IPOD because the cassette player wasn't working and wasn't usefull if it did. The wiring diagrahm was the piece I still needed but didn't know. I had planned to go on a ride today but my son's car needed new rotors so... I decided to put in the MP3 jack and remove the cassette player. I used the plastic from a battery box for a trailer and cut a piece to fit in the dash area. A local electronics store had the parts I needed. I bought a switch to control the input mode, an 8 pin DIN plug (female) and a 3.5mm female stereo jack. I soldered the switch and stereo jack according to the diagram and installed them in the plastic piece. I used Velcro the plastic into the dash are and reinstalled the cassette cover for weather protection. I did notice some degredation in the speakers when I first connected the IPOD but hadn't switched the radio off but now I know and will make the switch first. Other than that, it worked great while in the garage. I still need to road test it - that's tomorrow!! -

Mike- You can upgrade to the K & N filter. I think they are better than the stock. When you're ready to sync the carbs, give me a call and we'll get together. Dave

AFC Liquid Tight Conduit Take a look at this stuff. I was shown available on the Ace Hardware site. It may not be exactly what you are looking for but might work. Dave -

Fork Brace
utadventure replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
At that price, I wish I hadn't already replaced mine. You'll like the addition! -
Mike- It looks great!! I look forward to seeing in person. Dave

I have the Piggy Backer. It was inexpensive, straight forward to assemble and pulls nice. Some have upgraded things on it (lights and swivel hitch) to make it better. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Dave

Thanks 86er - I don't where the forks are from, he bought the bike as is. Condor - If Tupperj doesn't have what you need, there is a website (not nearly as good as this one) www.yamaha-triples.com that may have some parts available. the weather here is suppose to be great over the weekend and next week. Finally, riding time.

The bike is alive and running well. We installed the charged battery, verified the solenoid works, hooked up the starter and ... IT STARTED!! Nothing more than a very dead battery. So, we cleaned out the tank, replaced the muffler, changed the plugs, sync'd the carbs. We decided to strip the bike down and repaint it withh some of the excess black paint from repainting my trunk. Turned out pretty well.
