  1. Quickstep and Aussie Annie set over a buddy to check out the riding in the states before their arrival later this month. Ulysses made his way over a bit ago but because of weather didn't get a chance to ride until last Saturday. After getting him on the back of my bike. Off we went for a 450 mile ride from Salt Lake to Green River, UT (bacon cheeseburger was great at Ray's Tavern) and back. He was still smiling and didn't look too worn out at the end of the trip. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/IMG_1151.jpg I think the verdict is in.......Good Ridin', come on and join us!! Thanks and look forward to seeing you soon!! Dave
  2. Randy- I have some parts from an 86 two tone brown Venture. Sounds like it's in good shape, but, just in case you need something I have. Dave
  3. Great looking trike, Annie! Congrats!! Dave
  4. Like most areas, the weather in Utah has been less the cooperative for riding this spring. But the weather gods smiled upon us here this past Saturday. Friday night a couple of friends and I left the hustle of the city and headed for the mountains and central Utah desert. Friday night we spent at my in-law's place in Orangeville. Saturday morning, after a leisurely breakfast, we rode up to Joe's Valley Reservoir above town and enjoyed the cool morning air, sun and beautiful country. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Joes%20Valley%20Reservoir%20%20Ferron%20AOG/IMG_1138.jpg After the reservoir ride, we headed to fuel up, get and drink and join with 34 other bikes and a special meeting with the church youth in the area about the riding and relating the protective gear to the Armor of God Paul taught about in Eph. 6. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Joes%20Valley%20Reservoir%20%20Ferron%20AOG/IMG_1147.jpg Finally the ride home Most of the way home I noticed quite a bit of color on my arms and realized that I hadn't applied any sunscreen all day, even though the sun had been bright and temps in the mid 70's. Oh well, worth the discomfort!! After a long winter off, the bike ran great, 41 mpg (usually get 32). More rain (and some snow) today and tomorrow. Next weekend promises to be warm and sunny again. Come on Friday!! Dave
  5. I haven't done any LD rides but have a friend that did the 10/10,000 last year and is planning on it next year. WOW! Dave
  6. Jim and Carol Lindsey are joining us. They were sending their registration a couple of days ago. Dave
  7. Sorry for the delay Annie but it will be worth the wait!! Weather here is finally drying out and warming up. I'll have some pics near the end of the week. Dave

  15. Better yet. Keep get to know a bunch of us at the International Rally. We'll be gathering in Cody, Wyoming and riding Yellowstone and Beartooth Pass etc. The rally is July 25-28. Love a see you there! Dave
  16. I was going to ask why you didn't go with the Utopia backrest, but the cost difference was significant. Be sure to check you bolts every now and then.....don't want that backrest falling off! Great job Dave
  17. I'm continually amazed at how talented my kids are. Probably it's because I don't have these talents. My two girls each have blogs about the crafts, knitting and sewing projects they do. One does photography. My older son is at Weber State in the manufacturing engineering program. I think he likes it so much because he not only is learning the technical side, math etc, but because he gets to play with the machines. One of his projects this semester was to make a receiver cover.... this is what he designed and produced: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/IMG_1125.jpg After some final smoothing of the tool marks and some paint, it will be complete. I'm glad he doesn't have a truck....that way I get it for mine. Dave
  18. The VentureRider International Rally in Cody is coming up sooner than we realize. I'm so looking forward to the opportunity to ride in this great part of our country but mostly I'm excited to see so many of the friends I've been able to get to know through this site, whether we've met in person already or will soon do so. We've received a couple of emails about the t-shirts that will be available as part of the Rally and realized we haven't shared the final design....oops!! So, here it is...... If you haven't registered, now's the time to do it! See you in Cody!! Dave
  19. Yeah, that!!
  20. I removed the splitter and install a two antenna system, but, it should work just fine. Dave
  21. Best thing I ever did was to install the Firestik 4' with tunable tip. Dave
  22. Thanks to my friend that sent this to me! One day I had lunch with some friends. Jim, a tall, balding golfer type about 80 years old, came along with them---all in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "Ice Cream, please. Two scoops, chocolate. I wasn't sure my ears heard right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie," Jim added, completely unabashed. We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time.. But when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Jim as his pie a-la-mode went down. The other guys couldn’t believe it. They ate their lunches silently and grinned. The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Jim. I lunched on white meat tuna. He ordered a parfait. I smiled. He asked if he amused me I answered, "Yes, you do, but also you confuse me. How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is Possible. Itry to eat the food I need, and do the things I should. But life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good. This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I haven't been this old before." "So, before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I had ignored.I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I haven’t fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead. There are too many golf courses I haven’t played. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes. I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace. I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most. I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind on my face. I want to be in love again. So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired.." With that, I called the waitress over. "I've changed my mind, " I said. "I want what he is having, only add some more whipped cream!" This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day! If you get this twice, then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy. SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS including me if I'm lucky enough to be counted among them. Be mindful that happiness isn't based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people we like and respect. Remember that while money talks, CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM SINGS!
