It's going to be a few days before we can take the bike out again. It started to snow friday night and finally stopped at about 5 on sunday. We are suppose to get more snow overnight and we are still in a blizzard warning.

I am installing a j&m itergratr on my bike this year. It has driver/pass intercom, radio input (I am using a satt radio), cb and/or 2 way radio input (not at the same time), cell phone input, navigation input, and radar detector input. I still haven't got the head sets yet as we might get new helmets I haven't decided yet on what ones to get. I have installed the extension cables, and ptt switches but haven't finished the install. I have spent most of my spare time adding a set of floor boards and heal toe shifter but it will be done in the next month or so.

Brake light staying on
silvercrew replied to tfair's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My voyager was doing the same thing as yours is, I found the brake light switch on the foot brake was the problem. I bought a new one and the problem was fixed. -
looks like we can see a price increase in the near future now, with no competition they will raise the price to what they want.

I ordered some parts from sierra for my intergratr and it only took about a week and a half to get to Alberta. I thought about the edsets but I am not sure if they will work with the intergratr or not.

I have the same problem with my voyager but that is just the nature of the voyager. Last year I used a 53 watt solar panel to charge up the battery when it is parked in the shed and it worked perfect. This year I will be using a 100 watt solar panel just because I will be adding the 53 watt one on my trailer because of room. I still take my battery out in the winter because of cold and snow gets on the solar panel. I just plug the bike into the power point when I get home and it is all ready to go when I am.

I am installing a Integratr IV on my bike this year and I also have a headset question, is there much of a differance with the j&m 277 and the 584 headsets? The 584 is $60 more than the 277 but is it worth spending the extra for it? Any one have any experance with the 2 sets please help. Thanks

I am installing a j&m intergrater system on mine this year. I am after the intercom more than the others but the midland cb and radio input are going to be used. It looks like a nice system and I hope it works as good as some of the reviews I have read. I will post on here after I get it done but with the snow it could be a little bit before I can install it or try it out.

I have Sirius with the FM modulator on the bike and the expedition. I also have one in my company truck but it isn't modulated. The modulator is way better than without but out in the middle of southern Alberta I don't get a lot of interferance from radio stations.

I would also be interested in one as long as price is reasonable. I had a 1:16 scale plastic 83 honda gold wing years ago that I did lots of custom work to. I have lots of diecast bikes right now and I am always interested in more. The plastic ones are better you can customize as you see fit. Right now I am building mostly kenworth trucks but a nice venture could be good also. Maybe I could get one and win first place at the next hobby show instead of second.

Not today it was -31 without the wind today and about -46 with the wind. I wish I could take the bike out maybe in the spring unless the lotto comes in.

I was told by a friend that owned a dealership I should replace my helmet every 3-5 years depending on how much I use it, and low and behold the helmet owners manual states the same thing.

I installed my satt radio antenna on the chrome trim I have around my mirrors, but my mirrors are mounted to the fairing. The radio I installed on the ignition cover and the spare wire I tucked inside the fairing. I also installed a fm modulator for better reception. The cover I made from some clear plastic I bought at wal-mart and glued it together.

Does anyone know where I can go to find out what helmets are approved for use in Canada (dot, snell, etc)? I am having a hard time finding it on the web, my next step is to talk to the RCMP if no one can help me here. Thanks

I asked my brother that works for ford about servicing the tranny in my truck because I tow a holiday trailer with it and he said unless it has changed color not to do it. Ford does NOT recommend you change the filter anymore or take the pan of for any reason due to contaminents getting into the tranny, just to suck the fluid out and install new back in it. I have only replaced one trans in my life so far and that was due to a quick lube place not checking the fluid at service time in my standard truck.

I too would talk to Harley customer service and write lots of e mails saying if this is there service than this is my last harley, somewhere in the mother company someone will care. O and I would never go to any of there dealerships ever again. Lots of dealers around and repeat sales is something lots of people forget.

I haven't changed out the cable's but I have removed the carbs before. I had one on mine that was leaking so I pulled it out and fixed it. I have the repair manual for a 1986 voyager X11, what year is the one you are working on? I can photocopy the pages and fax them to you when I get home in about a week if you can wait that long. I can try and e-mail them to you but I am not computer smart so not sure about it, but I can get them to you somehow if you can wait a week or so. I see your's is a 94 but they haven't changed very much but i can tell you mine doesn't have cruise but not sure if my book does or not.

I have had a 78,85,88,98,2002 ford trucks, among may gm products. I have only replaced 1 transmission (88 a standard truck) and that was due to a lack of fluid in it(I no longer go to quick lubes anymore). I did work for a ford dealer in service for a bit when I got out of high school and yes the transmissions did have a issue with them like some have said. The exshuast manifolds were also known for cracking and making a ticking noise. My dad and father in law have also had may ford trucks and none have installed new transmissions. My father inlaws current truck is a 1994 f150 with just over 98,000km and no tranny yet. Here is just a little piece of information for you, we have a friend that had a 92 chevy truck and guess what it had a new tranny when he got it, he put 2 new transmissions in it and the guy that bought it off of him put 1 in that I know of, so it doesn't matter what you get you might have issues with it. Ford trucks were known for liking fuel but any chevy company truck I had sure like there fuel also so I think it is more of a truck thing. When we went camping with anyone with a chev they always filled up when we did and for about the same. Diesel trucks might be the way to go however just remember when something goes wrong with a diesel they are expensive to fix and stay away from the ford 6.0L powerstroke they are know for injector problems. I don't know about where you live but diesel here is also 5 cents per liter higher than gas. I have had ford(6.0L powerstroke), chev(gas),gmc(gas with a new transmission),and dodge(cummins) trucks and when I get my new company truck I am going to try the new ford 6.4L powerstroke.

This is not on a bike but it might help out, on my last truck I installed hella 550's with 100watt bulbs and hooked up to the high beam lights. On our expedition I installed hella 450's with 100watt bulbs hooked up the same way. What a differace at night to help spot little critters on the side of the road.
