  1. How bad is it? Some of Harley’s Japanese competitors did not produce 2010 models.
  2. I have to weigh in on this as I spent a lot of money and time working out seat comfort this year in particular. The pillow top feels great to me at first and for an hour or so. After that it gets uncomfortable. The Corbin while it feels like it has no give...doesn't really feel all that much worse after riding for a couple hours. I had even ordered up the new Mustang seat for the RSV. After a couple hours I decided I had to return it. It looks awesome and I wanted to keep it but feared it would not suit me. I also developed some sort of tail bone issue this season. I ended up with that Canadian Tire seat cushion (not really a gel) I cut the tailbone relief and modified the area around the thighs and threw it on the Corbin. Very Comfy for quite a few hours. Especially if you stop much at all while traveling, which I generally don't. My single biggest issue on a motorbike now is neck and shoulder pain which this year, and maybe RSV specific, is awful. I tried adjusting height of the bars and I tried risers, both are not helpful. Considering a whole new bike next year, If I can afford it.... As an aside, best comfort I ever had was a Corbin Dual Tour on a Nomad...3 years , 60,000 kms before the thing gave up a tranny. That was a bummer!
  3. I switched to Metzlers front and rear not long after I got my 08. It helped some but I still get noise leaning left or right. I wear ear plugs when riding and that helps!
  4. I believe that's the whole point if ABS.
  5. The one thing I don't like about the particular style is not being able to lean back and stretch your legs out on those long rides...I we do a lot of long rides. I feel very cramped in a very short time. But the styling itself looks very sharp.
  6. Funny this topic came up. I just recently had a discussion with an old guy that got hit or better put he hit a guy who pulled into his lane. He maintains that by increasing throttle at the moment of contact saved hi skin. The rational being that the bike does not dive and you go over the top. In his case he bounced a glancing blow off the windshield. I didn't know what to respond as I really don't know. He did say as a qualifier that the motor cops teach this sort of maneuver? Any one ever hear of that?
  7. I remember my first with a bow...can't describe that feeling of elation. Couldn't kill a thing now! Weird how that goes!
  8. Good write here makes it nice and easy. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 They were out a bit. I wonder if I'll be able to tell the difference? How does one know the rpm at idle?
  9. I came off a Nomad 12,000 miles ago. Beats it hands down. You'll love the Cruise. My wife says it's the best bike we owned. It is top heavy and you need to build confidence. For the $ it can be beat. Very smooth, good power up high where it counts imo. I'm considering the new HD Road Glide but I'm a tad slow yaa know!
  10. Are there anyone recommendations for helmet communication systems? More interested in something that's built in, (comes with the helmet).
  11. There's a program called dropbox that allows you to add fotos and vids to a folder on your desktop that auto loads up to storage space on the net. No need to resize anything. Slideshow included. Works great for full sized pics and broad band connections...http://www.dropbox.com/
  12. My Metzlers feel like that all the time on wet roads. So much so that now when I see rain I automatically pucker, even if I'm in my car!
  13. He's not even smart enuf to post the right size engine! Obviously people still fall for this crap or they wouldn't keep trying!
  14. Here's the link. http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/HD_Museum/visit_the_museum.jsp It's $16 plus $4 for a self guided tour using a headphone set. It's worth the admission $ imo. I would go again but without the women folk. Would be nice to browse without interruption or feeling the need to hurry. God willing I will be back in that neck of the woods next year. I want to see some of the country you mentioned...Maryland Ohio Kentucky. Would love to see that!
  15. It's in Milwaukee. http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Olive+Hill,+KY+41164,+USA&daddr=Milwaukee,+WI,+United+States&geocode=FbFpSAIdT90K-ymfD5LZTiNEiDG-LIGCiW3-Sw%3BFba4kAIdVqfC-innR4tX1wIFiDGEe0G1IhlfRA&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=40.52295,-85.56406&sspn=7.130772,12.227783&ie=UTF8&z=7
  16. Here's a link( hope it works) to a few pics from the summer. http://photoshare.shaw.ca/messages/viewthumb/17450470603-1284501830-74254/parm/ If your bored you can browse them. It was easier than trying to put them on this forum as no resizing is necessary, it's auto sized! Hope you enjoy them as I always enjoy looking at the photos others put up before I read the new posts. Thnx for that! Wade Another link to try. Please let me know if this one works... http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/10284998/1/trip%202010?h=f9d709
  17. Thnx...order is in!
  18. Picture sizes are so limited in size it hardly makes it worth it!
  19. Where's a good place to buy one of these. I guess I should get one. As far as I know it's never been tuned.I got almost 20K miles now....
  20. Wow...can't say that ever crossed my mind.
  21. There's millions of Harleys on the road...some are gonna break! On this board alone I have counted a few people having troubles with their RSV's. A couple simply fed up...It all comes down to percentages. Seem's there are a number of RSV owners pining for GW's... I kept getting told about how bullet proof the 1500 Nomad engine/tranny was. Didn't do me any good 500 miles from home! I'm not unhappy with my ride...just trying to see the balance.
  22. I've owned 4 bikes, all metric. Kawasaki Nomad left my wife and I stranded with busted gears 500 miles from home(a lot of stress)...never owned a Harley but if I do I will buy the extended warranty cause we do a lot of miles and peace of mind is a good thing!
  23. Was looking at the 2011 models at the Milwaukee museum. My wife wants me to have one but I don't know if it's in the budget! Like someone said...2 RSV's! Hard pill to swallow. Beautiful machine. I'd like to see a batwing fairing with a frame mount...
  24. I'll add my opinion here as well. When I first got the RSV I noticed it was way nicer in town compared to my 02 Nomad. But over time I began to get less confident. And that is a Big big factor. Confidence! Somedays I can turn circles with the best of them and others I feel like a little girl and no clue. Long and short is that practice and confidence with a little nohow can improve the situation. Good advise given about taking a Riding Course. Learn counter weight steering. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLzB5oriblk]YouTube- Slow-speed countersteering[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PERJTHu1Od0&feature=related]YouTube- Best slow control riding ever?[/ame] Personally I would add no things like links and wrong size tires. Get comfortable with only yourself and then you'll feel more confident with your wife on board!
  25. If anyone ever gets to Jordan, Montana on a Sunday morning, stop at the little gas station/diner/gift shop for a breakfast buffet. You can't miss it cause it's the only one! That old gal can make a breakfast that is for champions! It was awesome. The best meal of the trip!
