should the gas cap and tank get hot?
BuddyRich replied to jdzimme's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I spent 23 years in CA. Bought my 05 from Folsom Yamaha. Never did the tank get too hot to touch even on those 108 degree days in the valley. I have lived in San Antonio the last 2 years. And its HOT here. My tank still is never too hot to touch. It will be warm sometimes but never hot to the touch. Say over 115. And it gets hotter sitting in the TX sun than it does riding it. -

Battery problem again
BuddyRich replied to ediddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Seems I remember reading somewhere on here somebody having the same problem. Turned out to be the audio amp staying on after the key was turned off. -
Hmm, Its got California plates on it.

I swear, there use to be a sign on I-20. It read " Good Morning, Your still in Texas"

It ain't no sport bike but then after 12 hours in the seat you won't be worn out either.
-
I think the stock pillow top seats stink on these bikes. I had modified my seat way back. Then tried a RoadSofa. Went back to the modified stock seat. These bikes are actually a little longer that the wings.

And You think that would have worked ???

About 30 seconds at most.

I can't add anything so we'll keep up the prayers Don.

When you hit the start switch on the 2nd gen you are simply grounding a line. That line runs to the starter relay/cutoff and to the MCU. Don't know why they ran it to the MCU ,(Audio system) Maybe to turn it off when the starter is running. But its easy to see on the schematic. They should have removed the start button and then measured resistance to ground. There's only 2 components the start button is tied to. If the MCU went bad it can ground a line. Just depends on what went defective in the Audio Amp.

I have to agree with Brian. Its really not that hard as long as the surface of both levels are firm. Doin that on gravel or slippery surfaces brings a whole new meaning to the word fun, but even then its still recoverable.

Amount of moisture on the road will determine that. Bridges always freeze first so if you think the bridges maybe freezing then don't ride.

My quick release seat mod
BuddyRich replied to Sideoftheroad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I haven't had the bolts on my seat for the last 3 years. Never had a case of the seat flyinoff of it... Must be something holding it down. :rotf: -

GXM-30 for the Zumo and a DirectXM 2 for the Sat ready DVD player in my pickup. Prefer the Sat ready radios as everything goes up under the dash.

Hey Rick, Get your self an external usb drive housing for SATA drives. They work great. You can get them in 3.5 or 2.5 for working with laptops. I also have one that accepts either or and you just slap them in vertically thru an access door. http://www.supermediastore.com/sansdigital-mobilestor-ms1ut-3-5-enclosure.html?utm_source=googleBase&utm_medium=pcsite&utm_term=HD-009-1842-datafeed27&utm_content=datafeed27&utm_campaign=googleBase%20-%20HD

Now the house is strapped to the foundations. That was an FHA requirement. What I'm not seeing I guess is the completed circuit from the straps to the panel ground bar. I'll take some pics underneath too.
-
House (Double-wide) was built in 07. There's a panel on the meter pole (overhead feed) then underground to the house. The house panel is on an inside wall with a 3 inch PVC feed drop to underneath for the servce to come up.. The feeds maybe what you say Dan. They are about 3/4 the size of my thumb. Hanging traffic signals years ago we never worked with anything bigger than a 4 stranded. Did pull a lot of 12/12. Loved doing that by hand when there was more than 5 of them from the controller box out.I was guessing at the guage. Just checked the main breaker just below the meter. Its 200A
-
Thanks Dan, I'll open it back up an take some pics tomorrow. I don't see a grounding rod outside anywhere either. Appears to be 3 #1's Aluminum. 2,110vac and 1 common. I just guessing on the feed guage. Its a 200 amp service.
-
That's just it. Theres nothing bigger than a 10 going to the ground bar and that's from the internal circuits. Well, there is a stranded 6 but that's to the dryer. The rest of the bar looks the same.We also have a PVC for the water line coming in.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with this pic. And I don't mean my fingers being inside the service box. I'm just wondering where they grounded everything at.
