  1. Must be something to do with 4 vs 2 cylinders. The first time it happened we were following hdhtr back from the Bakersfield meet. All of a sudden we hear a big bang and see smoke coming from the rear for a second. Everybody behind him slowed real quick and asked over the CB how his rear tire was, We thought he had a blow out. He said "Nope, just accidently hit the kill switch at 70". Since then a few of us do it for fun.
  2. Is it Carbed ? I usually give it a little gas and then switch it back on.
  3. I had them on my Nomad and the RSV has something like it. On the Nomad it was just a bolt with an acorn nut on it. When you dragged the floorboards in a turn, it would grind down the nut and not the bottom of the floorboards. You just had to replace the nut every once in a while. The RSV has a plate on the bottom back/outside side of the floor board. Almost like heel taps for shoes, that grinds when leaning it way over in a turn.
  4. Yep, EBC HH double sintered
  5. When do we get the HOT PINK theme like the chaps. :rotf:
  6. Did you use a modulite adapter ?
  7. Actually the dealer may be right. The factory has no control over, if you know how to use a clutch so the clutch is not under warranty. Just like your brake pads are not. There are considered a wearable item I think. Not saying if the dealer is right or wrong just some past experiences in warranty work on vehicles.
  8. They tried the same thing in Hollister CA a couple of years ago. Normally there are over 150,000 bikers show up. Well, It back fired, They tried to call it off andonly 75,000 showed up. But this time they had NO money coming in from vendors or taxes so it cost them more. Duh ,,,
  9. Maybe the random cycling of the banners is causing it. Can you set them to change every 24 hours instead of every other visit the to the page.
  10. Has something to do with the NEW POST . I never use that and the site has always been fast. After reading some of the othere comments I tried it and the thing was slower than christmas. Even got a "Connection Intrupeted" and I just stopped waiting after about 40 seconds , closed my firefox and went back into the site and its fine
  11. "Wouldn't it be great" If I had a gazillion dollars ? OK, But I really like the monkey...
  12. Under Forums and then Venturerider Rallies you need to start the thread or post the link to the thread in that forum and I can make it a stickey. The VR rallies in the left box only Don or Goose can do and it requires some reprograming of that whole page
  13. Goose, I have no problems down here in SA. Nothing over 50 ms and it went thru Dallas actually.
  14. That'll get them off your tail, Start shootin things at them.. :rotf:
  15. 2nd gens have no packing to blow out though.
  16. White letters on a white page were really hard to read. I remember somebody had close to that for a while.
  17. I got the same results. Try using the google search and put a dot in http://www.venturerider.org Also use " Rebuilding the clutch " with the quotes. It will look for the phrase.
  18. We use them. You do have to get the fit right. Its a tight feeling helmet at first but after a little while it wore in. I do like the flip up visor on it a lot. Just pop it up in the dark and drop it down in the sun Could be a little darker. Bad part is the brim is not really long enough to help you much when riding into the sun. I used some electric tape on the upper part of the visor to solve that. Pockets for the headsets is tight if you have the elite J&M. The cheaoer J&M's fit ok.
  19. Half the cages are so quiet on the inside now that they won't hear you anyway. And the other have have their music up so loud they can't even hear an emergency vehicle.Or they are talking on the phone and can't see or hear. I'll stick with my not so loud pipes so I can hear what's sneaking up behind me if I should miss it in my mirrors. Tried the loud pipes when I was younger and the only effect I got was a headache after a couple of hours on it.
  20. Popping on decel can be caused by a cracked exhaust pipe OR a leaking exhaust gasket. Did you replace the gasket and re-torque the pipe yet ?
  21. One quick question. Were you using countersteering to control the bike. Generally even in a heavy crosswind you can keep it within your half of the lane using that. Hard sudden gusts will get just about anybody though.
  22. Carb icing is a real problem under certain conditions. This is straight from the FAA. No were not flying but its still carbs and a loss of power at the wrong time is not a good thing. Fuel ice forms at and downstream from the point that fuel is introduced when the moisture content of the air freezes as a result of the cooling caused by vaporization. It generally occurs between 40-80°F, but may occur at even higher temperatures. It can occur whenever the relative humidity is more than 50%. Throttle ice is formed at or near a partly closed throttle valve. The water vapor in the induction air condenses and freezes due to the venturi effect cooling as the air passes the throttle valve. Since the temperature drop is usually around 5°F, the best temperatures for forming throttle ice would be 32-37°F although a combination of fuel and throttle ice could occur at higher ambient temperatures. In general, carburetor ice will form in temperatures between 32-50°F when the relative humidity is 50% or more. If visible moisture is present, it will form at temperatures between 15-32°F. A carburetor air temperature (CAT) gauge is extremely helpful to keep the temperatures within the carburetor in the proper range. Partial carburetor heat is not recommended if a CAT gauge is not installed. Partial throttle (cruise or letdown) is the most critical time for carburetor ice. It is recommended that carburetor heat be applied before reducing power and that partial power be used during letdown to prevent icing and overcooling the engine.
  23. There is a VR flag already. Backwards peace sign is going to be kinda hard to see at a distance.
  24. Hey Tom, How did you get Yamaha to pay for part of it ?
  25. What he said. The tech will have to see how big the hole is. I did HVAC back before they banned R12 and venting to the atmosphere. If its repairable it will be a lot cheaper than replacing the condenser. That's the part you hit
