Just got back from Yamaha test ride at The Power Garage(new Yamaha dealer) in Woodstock Ontario. They had about 15 bikes-- took out the Warrior(not for me) then finally got to drive a second generation Venture. Now I know what everyone is complaining about the WWWWHHHHIIINNNEEE talk about annoying, could hardly pay attention to radio and driving.Bike only had 195klms on it.If this whine is that bad on other peoples bikes I'm glad I didn't buy one .Was fine as long as I didn't give it gas but I wouldn't have gone anywhere otherwise.Talked to rep about it and he said it has been this way since beginning and will probably be that way until new model(maybe)He would like to also see the new V-max engine put in it.

Thanks Margaret --she's used to it because after I said it she said to her girlfriend that was at the supper--"see I told you he would say that" Thanks also to you Eck and Wizzard!!!!!

Since the wife wanted something DIFFERENT for our 25th I waited to the last minute(nothing new) and had her follow me to drop off truck at repair shop and took me to bike shop in town(called ahead to get them to go along) to pick-up a part. Before we left home she informed me that she will probably be laid-off in Dec. so DON'T spend any money??????????????OOPS!!! So my old helmet box was brought out for her and of course she thought it was a new helmet. Had to remind her after she thanked me (boys thought she would cry) that we had to take it BACK because she and I would be laid-off for a few months---bet you guessed what her answer was!!! Then she told me that she didn't buy me anything because we didn't have any extra money after redoing renovation on livingroom so I just figured OK maybe later. Nope !!! Waited untill Sat, and boys took us to Brantford for supper and after desert wife went to go to ladiesroom and got down on her knee and handed a box to me(rather fast so noone would see her) and asked me to remary her----I said no but reconsidered really fast before I got hit. Rest of the night went really well as there was asupprise party waiting. All in all it was great and ready for another 25.

Thurs. went to Port Dover then along lake to Port Stanley--St. Thomas--London and home(Woodstock). Yesterday went to Goderich for the day and had a great turkey dinner.(since my sister-in-law isn't cooking turkey only ham)

Sent D.V.D. to sarges46 today. It is a good D.V.D. to watch and I have tried out a few of the things already. The slow turning with back brake on helps a lot for better control in turning tight corners and in parking lots.:happy34:Recommend it to everyone!!

Was by your house on way back from Simcoe today around 4:50pm to show you the new bike but you weren't there. Guess it will have to be another day. Finally got bike on the road Fri. afternoon and went on first ride yestureday. Wife went with friend and his wife to Norwich for coffee and ended up going to Port Dover for coffee. Went to Simcoe today so she could go to friendship festival. I think (no I know ) she wishes I had my old bike still or at least got another one like it as the seats are little harder and bike is louder.(litttle more rest stops)

A hitch is in the plans. But price and shipping will be the part which will decide if I buy or make one.Any idea what you would want and how much to ship to postal code N4S 8T9 Ontario Canada?

Pegscraper---measured risers and the originals were 1-1/2"from tripplle tree to center of handlebar and new ones are 4-1/2''. BradT--No I haven't got a hitch YET but will either be a homemade winter project or might even buy one(seen one advertised) Went on first ride today. Port Dover with wife and buddy and wife. Just got back around 10:30pm. Not as comfortable a ride as old bike and also alot LOUDER with Vance & Hines exhaust.

finally got the new bike on the road today.Between banks/insurance etc. As some of you know from Marcarl's birthday bash it is a 2000 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado 1600cc. It isn't a first gen but it will do for now. Not sure what I will be doing with my 87 yet.

I would keep the next as long as I can so spare parts-motor etc. would be great. Left side gone on front(fairing/headlight/lower fairing/rad/left crash-bar/driving-light/horn/and not too sure what else. Bike shop is checking to see if forks are bent or not. Then I will go from there. I figure it is worth keeping it for the $569 and find another.

My insurance contacted me and said WRITE OFF.Bike value $3795can. My amount with deductible taken off (my pocket take home ) $3800 They get bike. If I keep bike $2700. They don't care about other things I put on(doesn't add to value)New tire $275/light bar $100/ Rotor covers$150/oil filter adapter $80. Will replace helmet even tho I don't have receipt if I cut off straps. Not sure if they will replace rain suit/gloves and boots if I don't have receipts. Wife wants me to leave bike and get the $3800 and get another. I think I should keep and get another close so I have spares and new parts. Seen 2-85s and 86 for under $3000can.One has under 36000klms. so keeping my bike could help out in future. Have only till tomorrow morning as insurance won't pay for storage any longer and I have to pickup(no problem as I have trailer that I can use) Any help----advice???????

I am having the same problem. Bike shop says book value for MINT 87 is $3500can. They think that the 2 adjusters that showed up are going to write it off(estimate of $6000can. to fix by shop)Now just have to get insurance to be in office and return my phone calls. Also to know what day it is(their voice mail is 1 day behind) Also had bike appraised at $6000can. when I took out insurance with collision but not sure if that was replacement value or depreciated over the years and policy is unclear. Will find out I guess. Hope we have good luck. I will probably have more problems as I hit another vehicle from behind so it is always the fault of the one behind. Good luck!

Thanks to ALL fellow Venturers for your prayers/thoughts and concerns for my health and suggestions on bike repairs---all-tho after looking bike over and taking pictures it doesn't look promising. Still waiting to get police report so I can give to insurance and also waiting to hear from insurance also.(don't seem to be in hurry to discuss bike). No I wasn't towing my trailer as someone asked me.
-
Sorry to hear about your crash. I had one later in the evening and know what you are going through. Altho mine had considerable more damage(I have an 87 Venture) it doesn't look good for repair.Too old by one shop but depends on cost from another. Hope have more luck with yours!

Had accident on way home tonight.Truck in my lane was making left but decided to change mind and since I was slowing down at time lost traction with front tire and clipped bumper and taillight with front left side of bike and my hand(going about15 to 20klm)Thought hand was broke but didn't show in x-rays so have to keep iced along with leg that is scraped and bruised. After hitting went to right and in slow-motion I watched as bike broke up and I landed on top of fairing about 5feet away.Left side pretty banged up and not sure what other side is like untill I go to see it at impound tomorrow. Then call insurance(oh joy)Will keep posted.

Clipped taillight and bumper of truck turning from my lane but decided to stop and wait instead. As I was already slowing it wasn't as bad as it could have been.Roads were wet and lost traction at last second. If he had kept moving I would have missed him.Thought hand was broken but it was only badly swollen and bruised as was left leg.Last I seen bike it was in rough shape(windshield / headlight / fairing / broken) but will look at it tomorrow. Will get back with more details
