Just bought hitch, higher backrest & ignition power box from fib 78 . Fits great and looks great!. Hope to be able to use it this week to see how the new bike pulls my trailer. Hope backrest helps wife's back and sore legs or if not yet we will hopefully be going back to a Venture(1st OR 2nd) not sure but won't be this year.Have to wait and see how the economy gets and how mine and the wife's jobs hold out.

I AM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to retire which won't be until 2014 --which is my earliest time for full pension. Will be age 59/60.

Checked battery voltage and it showed 12.47volts--tried to start but no go--then held start switch on and it started finally. Went for about 100klm ride and had no problems so will go to work and check with battery place after work to make sure battery is ok. If not will have to buy new one.

We(oldest son & friend from work) arrived around 11:30 and left around 2:00 as it was getting a little cold . Bike was still down from bad battery. Found a few different prices from $109 to $220 and of course the best prices they don't seem to keep in stock so there will be about a week before they are available so will have to pay a higher price. will try and post some pics. Only seen 4 1st gen's and about 5 sec. gens and 1 triked-out sec.gen.

You are right it was my 2000 Roadstar 1600. Never had problems like that on my VENTURE tho(really miss her--unless I can get parts to fix her and put her back on the road)

Went for a ride yesterday after all that cleaning etc. and NOW I have a big fix to get done. After about an hour and a half I was stuck at a light and had to wait for a vehicle to come to light to change it and as I was pulling away from light drive belt BROKE and had to pull to side of road. Friend helped me put bike on my emergency trailer and got it home. Phoned bike shops today to get price and holy cow was my wife shocked price without install was around $350 to $475can.With install is 2hours which is $60/hr so it will be $540+ come Mon. Have to take it to Delhi as they have one in stock.Would try and do it myself but need it to go to Port Dover on Fri.13th and according to repair C/D have to take swing arm and back end off to change belt so figured pay them 2hrs work and have it back rightaway.

mrwhitebikes:Pretty well have a good idea where somethings are and the pictures show the good side of a 2 car garage--mostly storage for things I or someone else might need! Am in the process of cleaning and organizing most of it! Will see by spring!

pegscraper---It is MY 2000 Roadstar Silverado 1600(replacement for my 87 Venture Royale that was in accident last summer:95:----will put it back on road as soon as I can find cheap parts or find fairing I can adapt) Wife figured I(she) would like a newer model, but after a couple rides to Port Dover and Port Elgin area she wishes I had of bought another Venture to fix mine. Still looking for fairing and a few other things to rebuild 87 as long as I get it straitened out with insurance on how it is to put back on road. Once they said I could buy back and just fix it but then later they said I have to get a structional integrity test(strip bike to get frame checked by tecnition (only fairing got hit and laid down on ground--slow impact) Am still thinking on changing stock bacrest for passenger to higher one and also for a trailer hitch (for the Roadstar)

Last minute preparations to go for a ride. Homemade table I made last year is great for prepping - oil changes - cleaning - etc. Goes to total of 39'' and is about half height in pictures. Works on hydrolic-ram after the original design of floor jack didn't work out. Works great with multiple height adjustments and can do it with a touch of a button instead of jacking up and down with the jack.Have used it to work on a few other bikes and is great also for lawn tractors and snow blowers.

VERY nice !!!! :thumbsup:Wish I had one ,thought about making my own but wife says I have too many now(old {early 70}single snowmobile with square tubes down both sides so new ones won't fit BUT great for putting bike on(Marcarl has seen it with my damaged 87 on it)--4x7' utility for garbage dump runs--home-built pull behind that tows behind bike--and last-4'x6' 1960's canvas tent trailer.

Lou---when I first saw you it was from the back and side so I didn't notice the hat(didn't recognize it was a Venture hat) but the Harley Davidson patch threw me off .So I wasn't sure until about the 3rd siting that it was you and by then it was too late. Carl----I'm not sure if you meant that I missed out in your message but couldn't be helped as we had to hurry back sooner than anticipated(friends wife needed him home) so I didn't have time to stop in.(sorry)

Hey Lou: got down to Port Dover around 11:30. Saw you on the road a couple time's taking pictures but by the time I figured out it was you and I found a place to park(I was driving a white Mazda(Ranger)pickup with topper and bush bar on front) you had disapeared. Kept looking and taking pictures and spotted 2 83-85 Ventures riding around and then parked in Timmi's but didn't know the riders. Also seen(uuuugggg:happy-emoticon:) the next new THONG MAN ridding around. I say next new one because we seen the original walking around(fully dressed) with his trademark (THONG MAN) beltbuckle on.

Anyone else going to Port Dover for Friday 13th ? My son's will be along with a friend from work. NO we will not be ridding as good chance of bad weather and it is raining right now and around freezing temp. Wanted to but don't want to take a chance(long season to go) If we have time we might be able to stop in to Carl's in Brantford on the way back. I guess we could be like some other bikers and sneak bike in on trailer and just fib about ridding there. Hope to be there around 11:30 or so

Condolences to the family from my family!!!! Just remembered meeting and ridding with him and a couple other bike people before I joined up on this site. They left London and met me in Woodstock and had a ride around here to Brantford where we ate and discussed riding and possible joining up to the group. He seemed to be a very good person and very easy to speak to. He will be missed .

I had a bike jack from Costco like the sears one and am not too confident using it with my bikes as they seem too lean too much and seems awkward standing it up and then putting jack under before I can lift it so I built one somewhat like the one afabonline has. I can lift either bike or work on my lawn tractor and snow-blower also. It will lift with a hydrolic cylinder half way then can go to a total height of 34'' WHICH MAKES IT GREAT FOR DOING OIL CHANGES and under-work on tractor. Only thing with home-made is weight. To make mine more solid it weighs too much and is harder to move around BUT better to be more solid than not enough and flimsy.Works for me!!!! Could show pictures if wanted.
