  1. Don't know about the guarantee but searched several sites and they were best when including shipping so I ordered and had both tires in 4-5 days although they shipped separately. No association with MS Superstore but damn those Venoms are awesome!!! Happy Customer here and will return when I need more stuff. Just saying...
  2. Took advice from other members and went with the Venoms on my '08. Replaced the stock 404's even though they still had tread and were legal. I thought with them being 5+ yrs old and squirrelly in the turns and riding the road snakes, it was time to upgrade. Just back from Americade where I had them mounted by the Avon technicians at the Forum - (thought they would be best installer in case of any trouble later on). Purchased from Motorcycle Superstore - delivered in 5 days at an excellent price. So... as I was getting on the bike after they were mounted - a fellow RSV rider ('02) commented as he walked past "it's gonna be like a new bike". Well, he was right! I can't believe the difference in the ride, handling the turns and slow speed maneuverability. Really brought enjoyment on the 3 hr ride home (took the long route through Vt). Now if I can put up with the darn "whine" (ear plugs and loud music ) Thanks everyone that lead me to the Avons - really pleased. Ride safe

Yes - a set of J&M (I think) that came with my '08 RSV - PO said they work great but I never used them. If interested I will dig them out of the storage box I put them in a couple years ago and get more info. Dal
  4. Got the rear Avon - waitin' on the Brown truck to deliver the front, then off to the local shop for mount and balance. Looking forward to trying the Venoms after 9k of the 404's. Hoping all the good stuff said about the Avons works for me. The 404's still have life in them but original rubber and going on 5 yrs old - thought it best to go for new sneakers before the season gets in full swing. Will post review.
  5. Godspeed, Dave and Jamie - hoping for the best for both of you.
  6. mine was so bad i was on the verge of selling...pestered Yam mothership and got the "I" basket and I have a bike for life.
  7. I have the Utopia on stock pillow seat and along with the LDcomfort shorts I learned about here, can ride all day in comfort. Will not ride with out a backrest in the future - best investment you can make.
  8. OK - no hijack intended but what sync gauge is best? I know there are a couple - one from England (if it wasn't looted last night) which is a bit pricey but probably worth the cost? And another domestic one a little cheaper. Thoughts???
  9. SkyDoc's Deka + Battery Tender = done deal
  10. Binghamton Well, I guess you can handle Lake George weather! I agree my area is great for scenery - especially north of Albany. After this winter I am seriously thinking of the south for at least the worst of it - Jan - March. Tough talking the wife into moving but maybe we can find a small place to get away from the ice as we near retirement. Still love the Adirondacks in the summer. Heading up tomorrow with the RSV for Memorial Day weekend and uncover the boat. Season is delayed up here as Lake Champlain is 3' above flood stage and the marina is under water. Crazy but there is too much water for a boat! Re: phone - finding Droid with Virgin prepay might work for me. Found some talk on the net that they have the cheapest plan @ $25/month no contract. Will be looking into that some more and if it pans out will have internet access on the ride. Would be cool to post on my adventure from the road. Thanks to both of you guys and hope to ride with you (or am I supposed to say " y'all ) someday. Keep the rubber side down and have a great Memorial Day.
  11. Hey Norm, I can't wait as it gets closer. Finishing up a tough new construction job I ran all winter in the Catskills. Need the break from stress and recharge my battery. Planning on taking my time to "smell the roses" - no better place than the Blue Ridge. In the meantime, going to spend a couple days at Americade in Lake George. If you ever get a chance to head north in early June it is a fun time with lots of bikes. Lower key than some of the other bike rallies and beautiful setting. Only caveat is the weather can be iffy that time of year in the Adirondacks. I have been searching the net and see some of the campgrounds on the parkway - look nice and reasonable cost as you mention. Hopefully I miss the crowds. Most important is quiet and shower facilities. I am also looking at a couple reasonable tents and bags - sleeping pad is a definite and a cabin if the weather gets nasty. As you mentioned, good night sleep is important - although my wife will tell you I can sleep standing up! When it's time to snooze, I sleep like a rock. I have a gps so that's covered and looking into a new smart phone. Main reason is I refuse to bring my company cell phone on the trip - no work related calls! Also looking at Tracfone just to have someway my wife can get a hold of me. The smart phones are great but costly and not sure I need it after the trip so signing up for a contract doesn't really make sense - that's where the Tracfone might be a cheap way out. Thanks for the tips - hope to get a chance to talk with you.
  12. Hey Randy, Thanks for the info - will try to get in touch with you as I get in the area. CHecked the map and see where you are - not far at all from my brothers place. He just got it in Dec and did a couple rides from his home Jacksonville Fl but I'm sure we would enjoy your local knowledge and company. Look forward to meeting you.
  13. Note: suggestions on packable tent, sleeping bag and camping stuff are needed too!
  14. Hello All, I know this has been done before but thought I would ask for some suggestions on my upcoming trip. I live near Albany NY (upstate) and plan on riding to Clarkesville Ga. to see my brothers new cabin in the woods. Original plan was the wife was to ride along but she has gotten cold feet and is planning a trip to Detroit (??) to see our son. Soooo, a buddy may join me on his ElectraGlide but has not committed, I'm going solo if need be. After a long tough winter working on a new building in the Catskill Mts. I am in need of this ride! So any suggestions are welcome - thinking of the Skyline / Blue Ridge (did that 30 yrs ago on our honeymoon in a cage) and the Cherohala, Dragon, etc. Gonna make the ride enjoyable both ways as I have 10 days or so. Plan on riding with my brother from his camp after arrival on day trips. Probably do the Dragon then as it is not far from his place. One thing I am thinking of, is bringing a 2 man tent and bag to camp out a couple nights - never would have happened if the bride was along but I love it and can save a few bucks as well. Any good campgrounds on the way down or back is appreciated. Will take alternate route back so as to see as much new area as possible. Departure date is in limbo pending close out of the project but in the range of June 10 - 15. Off from work until July 5 but have plans to get back to our camp on Lake Champlain for 4th weekend or before. So fire away! I can't wait! :cool10:
  15. The wife and I are planning a trip in June down the Blue Ridge to stay with my brother in the area. Then over to the Dragon to make the ride. Can't wait to make the ride on my 08 RSV - also have a -78 XS750SE in the garage but RSV gets the nod for this one.

    Road Glide

    My dream bike....someday
  17. I share your misery. Here in upstate NY we finally got rid of the white stuff but other than a couple days (when at work, of course) wind, rain, cold temps continue. Since Oct last year, the weather has really been lousy - can only hope when it does break we get rewarded with a nice summer. Planning a trip down to Ga via the BlueRidge in late June... I did get out for a few miles this afternoon when the sun broke out - still chilly but dry roads (raining now). Gotta take it when it comes! Needless to say, griping about it won't help and certainly not as bad as the folks in NC - our thoughts and prayers are with them. Hang in there...better days are coming!
  18. I have visited V Twin Forum and HD Forum in the past. Not as good as here, but a lot of information/ Always wanted a Harley and may get one someday, but since adding the RSV to the stable - not in any rush. Since I have the full dresser, maybe a Fat Boy would be nice for tooling around town.
  19. 4 post lift is tops on the list, wanting one for a while. Would work for my Alfa Romeo and I would rig up a way to secure the RSV so it would be raised to best working height. Until then the sears lift with bracket will suffice. 2nd would be new Mig, old one died.
  20. Nope, just can't find my glasses... until they fall off my head
  21. You got coolant check but if not flushed in the last couple years, I would replace with fresh. Did mine in the 08 this winter -easy to do if you have a lift. I'm doing the Blue Ridge end of June so your post comes in handy. Thanks. Enjoy the trip, ride safe and post pics!
  22. On the fence with this one. I had some problems finding items but once I got used to it I go there first. It's a good idea, as I like to go to members to make a purchase if I can. Might just need a little tweaking to make more user friendly. My thoughts.
  23. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!
