  1. It looks like i may need to get some metric drill bits. I currently only have SAE. this is what i have been doing - i use my calipers to measure stuff and then get the closest fit and then use the dremmel to grind out that last bit for a custom fit.
  2. we have not met you guys, but hope to one day. our prayers are sent for both of you.
  3. Ok, where are ALL the photos of Squid's open house. looks like we gotta play I-Spy and the answer is in one of the photo's. Squid - get to posting those pics you promised - and don't leave out the incriminating ones. you know the one where monkey is shown with the unkown date.

  11. Wow, his bike is so georgeous that he put a different bike in the add. got to wonder about that one.
  12. tell yor neighbor to stop runnin his saw, that u want to listen to yor bike's radio whilest cleanin the chrome!
  13. in keeping with this thread - concerning gear changes/improvements in a 3rd gen - But for my riding in lower central Louisiana - there are 2 areas of riding i do here - 1.) I like the gearing just the way it is for solo riding. just great. leave it alone. however, when riding - 2.) 2up on interstate I-10 that takes us most places, i will bounce between 4th and 5th gears because we have speed limits for 55 to 70. with traffic i need 4th and when clear out, 5th gear is nice cruising 70 and up. If we had a 6 th gear, i believe they would shorten the RPM range of 3rd to 6th and give 6th the longer range mentioned above. It really won't mean a whole lot to us either way. on a side note, though, one less gear shift means 1/4 bike head up on a competing bike beside me.
  14. that gave me the hee bee gee bees just thinking about not just getting the splats, but having to find somewhere to stop n clean up. double yuk !!
  15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ one thing I rely on is their ingenuity and hard work that shows up at the super market!
  16. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ i will give it a try - Adam and Eve - believe Christmas crackers - knackers
  17. lost a day plus missing the work of all the equipment. that was a drag. pun intended with tongue in cheek. better luck as days come.
  18. I also run 4 pound of air in the front forks and 20 pounds of air in the rear shock. If i were a 100% solo ride, i would have 2 pounds in the forks and 5 pounds in the rear shock. Deb rides with me and the extra air makes the ride comfortable for her.
  19. the previous owner was as tall as i am. I claim the bit extra and say i am 5'6". when i sat on the bike when looking at it to buy, i sat flat footed. I thought that was odd. he is a metal fabricator and had made his own lowering links and gave me the originals in a bag with some other stuff. at maint day @ KBay's, someone noticed the front had been lowered also. I have the stock kick stand and i don't have a problem parking with the exception of the normal "watch where i park a motorcycle" cautions. i can say what i watch for is curb heights. i will scrape the bottoom of my pipes if i am not careful. my scooter may lean a bit more to the left while on the kick stand, but it is closer to the ground in case it falls over that-a-way. i have learned from watching RLAP 5, that i have lowered my lean angle. but from what i have noted while riding, i lean way over when i have had to and am of the belief i really should not need to lean more than i have. i have scraped my floorboards, so that is my max lean indicator. I like my lowered bike very much.
  20. living on a gravel road, i don't really clean the tires or rim. i do give a wipe with the wash rag just to keep 'em at least decent.
  21. I have noticed the same thing, but then, as suggested, i am spending more time outside than on the inside.
  22. when we got our 04 RSV, it has the duns 404 up and bak. the rear caught a rivet and slow leaked flat. i replaced it with an E3. i have about 800 miles on it. it rides nicely and is good in the easy curves of louisiana. it rode good in some pretty good twisties on Hwy 87 bordering Toledo Bend Lake in Texas on the way to our camp. the front is good and i have about 3 thou miles on it since i have had it. i don't know at what mileage the previous owner installed the 404's, but he put them on due to price. when the front wears down, i will see if the E3 comes in the skinny tire size. too many folks have stated how much nicer this bike handles with the skinny front tire. I will see what happens. i do ride easier since gas and tires cost more these days, but i do have fun.
  23. what happens on VR stays on VR.
  24. yep, mixed a bit of ole skool with a bit of new skool. while this thread is soooo much fun, it is nice good friendships exist.
  25. after thinking a bit more, the ignition is right above the radiator. if you are overheating, the heat will rise and heat that part of the bike. check your cooland fluid level. check under the seat first for the overflow reservoir. if empty, pull the gas tank and add coolant mixture to the radiator. oh yea, fill the overflow reservoir to the appropriate level, too.
