  1. My favorite bookmarks on this subject. http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Consumables.html
  2. [quote name=Good thing if you you have to have a new ignition switch installed, you can cut one side for the bags and then the other for the switch. This way you still carry/use one key. MIKE aka Uturn [/quote] Can I do this to the key for my RSTD and how do you what side to cut?
  3. Try this link. http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/RBC:RCd0Jo71A8YAAFW4V7I/cgi-bin/carloan/gas.pl Or Google Royal Bank fuel mileage calculator.
  4. I got 50 mpg on a trip from Nova Scotia to Huntsville Ontario and back. Two up and both saddlebags loaded and a tailbag. I stuck to the speed limit. I generally get 43 mpg "around town".
  5. I have always done my oil changes. I was installing my very first Purolator Pure One PL14610 and it won't go on. It will spin about two threads deep then stops. I spun the old filter back on, just to be sure, and it spins on and off no problem. The Pure One stops and I'm afraid of stripping the threads. Any comments?
  6. Name of Restaurant Capitol Lounge and Grill Street Address 333 Main Street City Middleton State or Province NS Website (Optional) www.capitollounge.ca Quality of Food Fantastic Quality of Service Great Biker Friendly? (Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) Pub, Fish and Chips and more. Alcohol Served? Yes Additional Comments The food is awesome. The new owners have installed 12 new draught taps too. It is located on the corner of Main and Commercial Streets in Middleton. If you are traveling west on Hiway #1 you'll go right past it. The fish and chips are the bomb, they use fresh six ounce haddock fillets. The two piece is a gut buster.
  7. I bought a Nelson Rigg bag that is waterproof. Lots of room and it works. We drove through an Atlantic Coast downpour and my wife was dry as bone because she was hiding behind me and the bag kept the spray off of her. All our kit was bone dry as well.
  8. Diamond R and I didn't have to cut the seat for the post. It fits around the seat.
  9. I put my ME880 Marathons on in Aug 05 and have 22,000 kilometres on them, that's around 13,600 miles. I have always run them at 41PSI, kinda the in between one up and two up tire pressures. We do alot of two up driving. There is lots of rear tread left I plan on changing the tire next spring if I take a big road trip.
  10. I got mine from www.leatherconnexion.com.
  11. I just won this today for $167.50 USD. Can't wait to get it on the bike.
  12. Last May in Nova Scotia, five people were killed when a woman crossed the double yellow on a two lane highway. Two oncoming motorcycles crashed into the passenger side of the car killing the driver's daughter who was in the passenger seat. The other four deaths were the people on the two bikes. The driver has admitted to crossing the line and got a $279 fine. The son of the driver on the lead bike is suing. Makes you head spin in more ways than one. http://halifax.metronews.ca/index.cfm?sid=32805&sc=89
  13. I'm not too sure but I'm thinking a 2002 or so. It seems to me even the newer ones have the same shape.
  14. Like this? I got it off EBay awhile ago it's from the VStar 1100. Works like a charm too. I bought a Nelson Rigg TBag and didn't lose a thing, knock on wood.
  15. Plus 10C which is 50F. This pic is from 16 March 05, lets see what spring brings this year.
  16. Here's a link to the Nova Scotia Biker's website. http://www.novascotiabikers.com There are a lot of good links here. Under the "Links" button is where the travelling around the province links are stored. A general link I found for biker friendly accomodations. http://www.bike-stay.net
  17. I bought my ME880s from G.Bourque in Moncton, NB. The invoice read that the retail price was $281.55 discounted to $128.60 for the rear tire and $246.95 discounted to $135.95 for the front tire. My total was $362.14 including $20 for shipping from Moncton to Kingston, NS. Next day delivery as well. A local mechanic/parts seller installed and balanced them for $45. I took off the saddlebags which had to be done anyway and drove to the shop like this.
  18. I put ME880s on and I'm a happy motorcyclist. They have a higher air pressure, I'm not an expert but I think that led to better gas mileage because of less rolling resistance. I have 6000 miles (two-up hiway miles) on them and they look good. Lots of tread to go yet.
  19. I cut mine down. I taped off the top part with masking tape. I then took a pencil and with a piece of string and made an arc across the tape from the centre screw on the windshield. I used a Porter Cable jigsaw with a fine blade, lots of teeth, and set my speed fairly low and just took my time. You made need a second pair of hands close to the end of the cut. I did all this right on the bike, I covered the front of the bike with a sheet. Then I sanded the edge with some fine paper, be careful not to roll over onto the windshield, it will scratch. You can see in the pics how my cut made kinda made square corners, I've been thinking about fixing that
  20. I bit the bullet and drilled the hole. I got leather mudflaps and didn't want to lose them. I bought nice bolts and drilled one hole, I was going to drill more but this works and they are on good.
  21. Not enough air pressure. I run ME880s at 46 front - 48 rear PSI. I got these from the website and they are the top pressure for solo and the bottom pressure for two up. I'm trying to find the link. Here I saved it in text format: SUGGESTED TIRE PRESSURES BASED ON LOAD (P.S.I.) Touring / Cruiser ME 880 Marathon Solo 2 Up Light 2 Up Heavy Front 36-40 40-42 40-42 Rear 44-46 46-48 48-50 For bikes with the following rear tire sizes: 150/80-16, 160/80B16, 180/70R16, 180/60R16, 200/60R16, 240/50R16 170/60R17, 210/50R17 160/60R18, 180/55ZR18, 200/50R18, 240/40R18, 280/35R18 ME880 Solo 2 Up Light 2 Up Heavy REAR 40 42 42
