Chrome Rotor Covers?
bongobobny replied to JimRoberts's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have also heard that you can modify a set of Gold Wing covers to fit. Keep in mind that the ones on ebay are used as none have been made new for many years, so it is not uncommon for them to be pitted and rusted. -
How did you check the spark? Did you pull the plugs or just the wires to check the spark? The reason I ask is that you mentioned you ran seafoam thru, and that could have loosened a lot of gunk from the carbs, valves, etc and fouled out the plugs. You may want to consider a new set of plugs, even if yours are fairly new. Hey, it never hurts to have a spare set around if you find there is nothing wrong with your curwnt plugs...

Thanks, everyone! Yes, I am very concerned as I have to stand and walk at work and I realy want to finish the last five years of my career before retiring. Also, and equally as important, Becky and I realy enjoy riding. If anything were to happen, yes I will trike out my ride so that we can continue to ride for many more years. Looking forward to seeing many of you in the next few months. While I am recovering in August feel free to stop in and visit. I plan on spending most of the time soaking up rays on the deck!!

1st Gen. Clutch Slave Cylinder.
bongobobny replied to MiCarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't forget to replace that rubber seal that is on the block where the clutch rod goes thru, or you wil be taking the slave off again in a few months!!! Also, when you take the middle cover off, the bottom screw has a coper washer which is really a gasket. Oil will come out of the thread that the screw is screwed into. The threads go all the way thru on that one...- 36 replies

Well, I talked to the Doctor yesterday, and he has agreed to postpone the surgery until August. That means I can make it to Marcarls and the International Rally!! Unfortunately Ashville will be out of the question, and I was sooo looking forward to meeting that crowd. They will be just removing the bone that my middle toe is conected to, but will leave the toe itself on "for decoration." Also, the recovery time wil be just a few weeks instead of the few months I had anticipated. Also, it should not affect my balance, so I guess I can postpone triking out Goldie for another couple of years yet. Thanks to al of you who have been praying for me as it means a LOT to me...

Stator problem?
bongobobny replied to BJB's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I already bought one of those RM Stators and although I have not installed it yet, I was quite pleased with the dealer. Good price, and prompt shipping. The dealer claims better than stock performance from the unit. I'll find out for sure when I get around to updating mine... -
Looking for....

oil and filter
bongobobny replied to nowindinmyhair's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yup. Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 here, cheap and works great!! Usually buy the gallon from Auto Zone. Because of the "Wet" clutch you want to avoid friction inhibitors like the plague. Your clutch works on "friction." Yah, the dealers want too much for the stock Yama filters. Good old Wally World should have what you need... -
Becky and I will be ther as well, and am already registered. I have to have a toe removed from my left foot, not sure when, but will be at the rally anyways even if we have to cage it!!! Hopefully we will be on the scoot though. Wouldn't miss it for the world!!!

That's actually a pretty good looking scoot. The gas gauge should be an easy fix. Wonder if it is really 25K or 125K, but it looks too good for 125K...

Buckeye Performance has the heavy duty Barnett clutch springs for the 1200 at a very reasonable price. When is the last time you changed motor oil? Fresh oil will make a difference. As was suggested, flush your hydraulic system and put in new synthetic fluid...

bongobobny replied to JimRoberts's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Those vhrome intakes for the fairing, when they are on evay, usually go for a LOT of money! I do have a set of chrome for the engine covers but they need replating... -
Working today. Big Tom will be picking his scoot up from Pioneer Tuesday so?????

I've been threatening to leave work early every day this week but so far I've managed to save my vacation time. Sure has been nice this week and I would have ridden to work but I've needed the cage all week to haul home gardening supplies. Got the new rear tire mounted but not on the bike yet. Hope this great weather holds oput a while longer yet... We should get together and ride soon, James!

Leaking Air Ride Canister
bongobobny replied to 6pak's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I did, but it just got shipped off to Michigan. I'll see what I can do for you... -
Keep up the great work, Guys!! I went cold turkey in 1987 and never looked back. The first week was the hardest but with Jesus Christ there to carry me thru my weak times I was able to make it! Now I can't stand the smell of cigarettes and can tell a smoker from 20 feet away. Strange thing is, sometimes in my dreams I still smoke...
