Magnet for oil filter???
awsmsrv replied to DanC's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No such thing as a dumb question. It's the same. -
$99/hour from the dealers here near Seattle. I'm always amazed when I see the rates outside this area (cheap). I guess I need to move.

Which LED Signal LIghts?
awsmsrv replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sequential Turn Signals on my mirrors. Here's what I've got on the rear of the bike. -
My Enhanced Driver's License comes with one of those sleeves, however, the license has no personal info, just a reference #. Won't be long before "we" have those RFIDs implanted in "us". But, that's another matter I won't get into here.

Hit a hawk-shattered lower fairing

Something like this SHOULD be on comprehensive & will NOT increase your premium. Happened to me & it didn't go up. -
Hey, me too. Good stuff.

For me, it's a toss-up for a favorite between RoadRunner & Motorcycle Consumer News. Each has its own different good points. My other one is Rider.

Saddlebag and trunk liners for 2007 RSV

Since my wife got me some personalized ones, I'll sell my old set (3 pieces, barely used) for $50 + shipping. Deal? -
A 3rd Gen??? Could it happen? Sorry, different thread.

Yeah, that's what my wife said, too. The cop complimented me on my riding skills, but, I know I was being watched over. It's certainly a combination of things that got me through.

Had quite the scare yesterday. While in the #2 lane on the freeway, a double dump truck merging onto the freeway from the left about 100 feet in front of me hit one of those big orange construction barrels which bounced across the #1 & #2 lanes right into my path. I couldn't avoid it. I hit it & trapped it under the bike while doing about 55 mph. The bike started sliding, but, somehow, I kept it upright & eased over to the shoulder. I put the side stand down as far as it would go, about 4-5 inches short of where it's supposed to stop, but, with the barrel trapped under the bike, it was enough to hold the bike up. Trucker didn't stop. Nobody stopped. In fact, those who were merging onto the freeway from the freeway entrance weren't even slowing down to let me over until I stuck my hand out motioning to them to slow down & let me over. Called 911 & within 10 minutes a highway patrolman pulls up. He sees the barrel under the bike & asks, "How did you do that?" meaning, "How did you not crash?" Anyway, I asked if he could try to pull the barrel out while I straddled the bike & leaned it to the right. He asked if I could lift the bike. What??? Almost 900 pounds, I don't think so. He got it out. It broke the right side lower cowling under the radiator & cracked the left side lower cowling in front of my left leg. No other damage. I stopped at my insurance agent's office to report what had just happened. Went back to the construction area to speak with someone there about the incident. The cop had already spoken with them about it. Long story short, they are going to pay my deductible, which I said was all I wanted. They were all very nice about it all. Of course, I probably would have been as nice as I could be if I were in their shoes, too. So, it appears that everything is going to work out smoothly: bike will get repaired, I won't have to shell out for my deductible, construction company gets off easy. On top of all that, I DIDN'T GET HURT. Do I feel fortunate? You bet. Soooooooo........ Be careful out there. It's not just the cagers out to get us. Those truckers & construction barrels are, too.

1) Only if you change the blinkers to red. I think most, if not all, states don't allow amber lights to be continually on at the rear. Then you'd have to tap into the tail light & brake light wires. 2) Don't know how you'd do that. Do you mean the whole thing blink? Not sure I'd want that. You might be able to replace the LED strip in the lighted spoiler with a red strip in the middle for tail/brake light & amber strips on either side for the turns. I've thought about doing that, too. 3) Yes, get a Brake Light Module XP.

Almost a year ago, a deer strolled into and rocketed out of my way so fast that I also didn't even react physically. There was one I saw cross the road in front of him & didn't think there might be another one. He came from behind some bushes into my lane while I was doing about 35mph and he accelerated like a rocket when he saw how close I was. At the time it jumped out of my way, it must have been a couple of inches in front of me. I truly don't know how I missed him. I could have reached out & touched him. I didn't even have time to feel fear. I felt extremely fortunate.

Did that. I always carry a fuel bottle just in case. Anyway, got home today after work, started up like nothing ever happened. Supposed to rain big tomorrow, but, maybe I'll take her out tomorrow to fill up & see how it goes. Thanks for all the advice, guys. Said it before, but, I love this place. Don done good with creating this forum.

Yes, Eck, you're right. On the right cover, too. Could be good places to add some kind of switch for something or other. "your ignition switch may be going ka-put" Shouldn't be going ka-put. Had it replaced earlier this year.
-
Did you notice the 2nd pic is reversed? Fuel petcock is on the wrong side of the bike. Just sayin'.
-
Thanks, Eck. One more thing: one of the times I tried to restart after turning the key off, I heard the clicking of the fuel pump. That doesn't usually happen when the bike is warmed up. Could this be an indication the pump is dying?
