Jack, Believe it or not, that was my old tire off my '89. I know Dave is good about his tire pressures as well as I am....that tire hasn't been run low by either of us.....

I would stay away from the Concord, if I remember right there were some trans issues with them. The Buick would be a good choice, I drove one as a rental when we went to California and was happy with it. As far as your Taurus, dont bother trading it in as you wont get much, sell it outright and you'll be further ahead.

I have used GTX in the past with good results, but without getting POLITICAL here Castrol is owned by BP and until they clean the gulf area up and make things right...I dont use it. If you like it use it, as long as it's not energy conserving your good.

Gary mentioned that, but the smart car was an inch longer than his RSV

You wouldn't have an issue Margaret, if any of you folks get a chance to sit in one do it. I had zero issues getting in or out of it. I also got the opportunity to drive Aamcotrans' Mini Cooper. I was surprised at that one too as we both sat side by side without being shoulder to shoulder. That was a fun one to drive too as it has a supercharger in it and a 6 speed stick

I dont run headsets as I have half helmets and listen through the bikes speakers. I do have a J&M microphone for the CB transmitting and everyone I have talked with says mine is very clear. I have been happy with the J&M product I am running, I have almost $400 in 2 helmets with all the piecing together of it all. I bought them at Sierra Electronics like Don spoke of, very happy with their service.

Well now I have a chance to chime in I have to say that I am pretty impressed with that little smart car. It has a 3 cylinder Mercedes diesel in it and Gary said it gets right at 50 mpg US gallons. It is very interesting and I have to say pretty fun to drive. You may think I had to shoehorn myself in it, but that wasn't the case it actually is roomy inside and I could push the seat all the way back and not touch the petals. It's was surprisingly spacious inside with Gary and I able to sit side by side comfortably. The convertible is the coolest thing, the upper door frames come off and there is a stowage pocket in the rear tailgate that holds them. It's actually a pretty well thought out car and for Gary and Mary is the best deal as it fits in his trailer with the RSV behind the Space Shuttle. I really want to thank Gary and Mary for letting me take it out. It was great to see them and Gary and I had a nice little 10 mile jaunt in it

Is the bike in Texas or there abouts? I see your in Central Texas and there are many of us that would be willing to go take a look and a ride on it to let you know the skinny.

Tim, I can only think of 2 options here, if your worried about your 1st gen's reliability, you really need to get another bike that gives you the warm fuzzy. There are definitely issues with any 20+ year old anything. If you have maintained it well and gone through it properly then I wouldn't hesitate to go. You have a touring bike for just that, touring. There are many on the VR assistance page that would help you out in a second. The 2nd option is get a newer bike Just like Snaggletooth mentioned....Adventure

Rear cylinders are dead
Squidley replied to bscrive's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just for grins start it up and take the turning end of a screwdriver and tap on the carb bowls. If a float is stuck that might jar it loose, unless it has been sitting with gas in it since it was new it doesn't make sense that it would be clogged up. It also should run very bad missing 2 cylinders, they run decent on 3 and it can be hard to distinguish them with a dropped cylinder. -
metal shavings in clutch slave
Squidley replied to Sandbagger's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have never encountered that Bob, but I would recommend that you replace the slave cylinder. I have seen only limited good results with trying to rebuild a slave cylinder. A new one isn't a whole lot more than a rebuild kit on it. -

Whatcha think about this 17mm tool?
Squidley replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Rusty, I made a tool for the cap removal on the forks out of a 1/2" bolt. The head of it is right at 17mm and I put 2 jam nuts on the shank and use a socket and 1/2" ratchet to remove it. Costs like a dollar
