  1. Yes I figure about an hour and they wanted 120.00. I have the tools and am not afraid to turn a wrench.
  2. Good looking tach. You said you went with a little bigger tach. Do you have a part number.
  3. Good Morning all, I had my 08 venture in for the first service this week and was talking to the service writer about a set of slip-ons I saw on a RSV when I bought mine in january. He was not sure of the brand but told me they were shochrome or shoguns. I have not talked to parts to get the name or price yet.Twin 1 1/2 pipes per side with good mellow tone. The queston is He told me they have to rejet the carbs and being there is no kit they have to make up their own. I thought I seen on one of threads that as long as you do not change the header pipe you do not have to rejet these V-4's. Am I being told a dealer lie or is there a chance he is telling the truth. He was not happy when I told him I would be putting the pipes on myself. I took it in for the first service but will be doing my own from now on. With the help of any of you guys if I find myself stumped on some of the maintance. Thanks for any help I can get on the slip-on problem. Richard
  4. OK who is who so we can put faces with you guys for the ones in the NW that have not met you guys yet.
  5. That is to bad. Just as the weather is getting better. Hope you heal fast so you do not miss much riding time. GET BETTER soon. Gives you time to polish it up so it shines when your ready.
  6. Welcome aboard. I got an o8 Venture in January for 14,490.
  7. Hope it works out. I know the importance of keeper the wifes comfy. When the bike leaves my garage with out her on it I hear about later. She did not want anything to to with a bike until she was on it couple of times now she does not want to be home when the bike goes.
  8. Not to sound stupid but where do you wire the emergency toggle if needed. Real good post. I have a second generation. Just do not want to be stuck on the hyway. Thanks
  9. Laying a yard stick from front to back in the center of the passenger seat to the black pad on the front of the trunk I get 1 inch. The trunk curves back down below and the seat sits back a little below the top. What else do you need.
  10. Payers from our family to yours, Take care of yourself.
  11. Mine was the driving lights before I picked it up I want to be seen as much as possible. Also had the trunk rack put on at the same time. The next was the LED brake light bar for visiblity from the rear. Now I can start adding the good stuff.
  12. So you can buy your own and it still works I was told if you bought your own it works in reverce. Maybe I'll have to get one. What happens if your wife buys you one and she rides with you.
  13. I bought a light bar that mounts below the trunk to the helmet holders. Comes in a kit with instructions and mounts in about 30-40 minutes. It has 11 led running and 11 led brake lights. It is bright. Go to (yamaha royal star venture led light bar). Go to the 4th one down to (e-bay light bar yamaha) click on it than about the second down should be led light bar kit. Shows the back of a venture with light. One of the best light mods you can make in my opion. Wife says it shows up great and looks good. Seller is hillis on e-bay. Welcome to the site.
  14. I got alot of ripping when I bought my VTX and when I sold it and bought my RSV in January they really started in. They do not like it when I tell them I can count on my bike getting me where I am going. I'll stop and lend a hand to someone who looks like they need help. We are all out there saring the road doing what we love so who care what you ride as long as you enjoy it.
  15. I'LL have to agree with Buddyrich on Goerge Strait no 50's.
  16. Well, Like Georges I live Northwest of Portland,Ore and been waitng to ride. Yesturday the rain held off long enough to get the bike out and washed. This morning I will pull it out go over the bolts give it a good wax and then off for a ride. I can not wait. Looks like we can get some rides in for the next week. Richard.
  17. I have the Morgan carbtune and only used it one time. It seem to work just fine and the backfire I had is gone. I'll have to get a manifold and run goose's text and see if it is calibrated. If not I will be getting a hold of Morgon and send it back.
  18. Thanks lilbeaver (Rick) for the info on the oil. I know what I can use now. The oil I use in my cars is sm 10-40 and will work in my bike. I get a case for 22.00 when it is on sale. Beats 40.00. Richard
  19. Does anyone know anything about Cheveron 10-40 oil.Is sm rating better or whorse than sj. Should be OK.
  20. If any of my post are borderline or cross that line. Please let me know so I know where that fine line is. I do not want to offend anyone or their wife and kids as I would expect the same. We do tend to protect or loved ones. I do watch what I post but you never know what the other person finds over the line. Thanks for your attention and let all of us know when we cross that line so we know. Just pulling a post does not let us know what was wong.
  21. Looks great I'll have to keep my eyes open. My wife like to pack and you never know what you'll find on a trip you can not live with out. Good buy and I like the lights.
  22. Yep no rain down by portland either. Wife has Sunday plained, get things done by noon and going for a ride at noon. She has not been on the new bike sence we got it in January. Weather just does not want to stay nice long enough. We will put a few miles on today.
  23. We wish we had the time to come and put some faces on all of you. I would diffently would want to be on the work list on our seat. We just have to much going on right now. Guess we will have to pay the shipping as I want Butt Butler to work over my seat to his mods and norrow and lower it just a little. Being I am leg challenged. I'll have to get a hold of him and hopefully have some bad weather so we do not miss some good rides. Have a great time at the meet. I am always willing to learn something new and learning from the best, well that is the only way.
  24. We are sorry to hear you went down. Fast thinking on James part it could of been worst. We are glad to hear it was not worst and hope and pray for both of you for a fast and complete recovery.
  25. If his friends can not except his wife because of what she loves to ride, then it is time for new friends. His wife and the ride she loves should come first. If he needs to impress them they are not true friends. Tell him to ride what he wants and you'll ride what you want.
