  3. Well. went and got the battery out this morning and put it on the charger at 2 amps. Will let it sit for the day and then put it back in the bike. The only thing that is still dependent on battery after it is shut off is the clock on the ecm. That is what probably what drained the battery. Will let you know what happens tonight.
  4. I have an 89 Venture. I replaced the battery about 1 1/2 years ago. I have a Decka. Bike has been sitting in storage for about 1 1/2 months. Went to start it today battery was dead. Jumped it with car and it would run but when I took off the cables it died. restarted and let it run till it warmed up. removed cables and it would idle. When try to get the rpms up it started to sputter and tack would go all over the place and gauge would go towars the bottom. When let it idle every thing was fine. Is it because the battery is drained so much or is there other problems. This has never happened before. Bike has 100,000 miles on it. I plan on putting battery on charger in the morning and leaving it there till the afternoon. Thanks in advance
  5. The problem in California is that the thiefs have more rights than the law abiding citizen does. When our house got broken into, I had just finished showering, heard 2 voices and grab my gun and cell phone and yelled that I was going to aireate some brains. I was on the phone with the dispatcher and she said that I needed to get out of the house. Within 20 seconds 2 sheriffs arrived and saw me with my gun. Said I couldn't do that. They searched the house to see if I shot some one. Here in New Mexico we are allowed to carry open. And if we go to class we can carry concealed. Like that. If some one comes on your property and is acting in hostil manner you have the right to shoot if they do not leave. California is slowly taking the rights of the individual.
  6. PASSING OF A GENERATION May the hand of the Lord keep you safe and out of harms way.

  14. Before we moved here (June of 09) I had the compressor and all new componets installed. (1994 Chevy van) Worked great, till last week. we had stoped to have lunch and then when we left, I turned the air on and noticed that I could smell rubber burning and no cold air. I shut the air off and heard this noise coming from the engine. Pulled over and opened the hood and noticed that the clutch was trying to turn and that is where the noise was comming from. All switches were off. Called the shop that installed the unit and asked if it was still undr warrinty and the people that he bought it from wants me to ship the compressor so that they can determine what happened. I don't think that is going to happen because I need it here to drive the van. I may end up selling it.
  15. possible fork seals leaking??
  16. Was sent this attachment. Hope it comes out. Don't know if has been posted here before. This is awesome. I had no idea this was happening. God Bless this man. This is the first I've seen or heard of this bell. What an honorable thing for someone to do. If you delete this before opening, "Your loss". God bless this person.
  17. Earl, Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope that you heal fast and that the Good Lord puts his healing hand on you and your family. Take care
  18. The differences are that the slide in the 1200 is a little smaller in diameter than the 1300. but the diaphragms are the same, If you look in the classifieds here you will see that Shydoc17 sells them (diaphragms). You could also pm him. Also there is a write up about doing a mod on the carbs from 5 bikes. Hope this helps.
  19. Hello Annie. Back in the mid 90's I remember I had the distinct pleasure of working side by side with some of your Air Force chaps at one of our bases in California before it was closed. They had bought about 12 F-111 from the U.S. We refurbished them before they were delivered to the Australian Air Force. We had a blast joking with them and they with us. We all had a good time. The stories they would tell would make us laugh. And I found out what a Blista was. I hope that is he way you spell it. When I saw your post it brought back memories. I wish them well as I do any person that is in military service in any free country.
  20. I have been dealing with them for 6 years now and still no settlement. Am on social security disability for 2 years now. Have lawyers but you guys know how that goes. Need both shoulders replaced ( was told to have them done when I get to be 70 as they last for 10 years) and neck needs to be fused together at some point in time. That is why I had to quit driving school bus. Neck was getting aggravated, and couldn't turn neck to look to cross street. They even tried an epidural in my neck but that didn't help. Dr. said if i quit driving commercially, might be able to save my neck for a couple of years. So here I sit. I still ride but only for short periods of time. Hope that the lawyers will be able to come to an agreement in May so they say. So I know how some of you feel. Ya'll ride save.
  21. A couple of years back there was a company in Texas that was making them for the Goldwings. There were several wright ups from some of the people that tried it. Said the the bike ran smother and seemed to have more umph. And got better mileage. The company had built their own intake manifold and set a Carter single carb on it. Didn't need to change pump and the throtle linkage would fit on the carb. Haven't been able to find the company in a while.
  22. Here is a web site that sells the battery for the 1st and 2nd gen bikes. They are the Deka batteries and I have one in my 1st gen and it sits out side in the snow and every thing else. There are times I don't ride for a couple of weeks and then I go out there and start it up with no problems. The mornings here get to 18* and still it starts right up. Deka: ETX18L - Battery Service Corporation
  23. I believe that in the late 60's or the early 70's Pontiac had one installed in the consoles so that you could judge how much vacuum you were pulling so that you could get the best mileage. The least vacuum the more gas you were burning. Also you could use it to set your mixture on the carb.
