  1. Hay Tarl. If you want a good battery here is a web site to go to . I got the battery a few months ago and love it. It has 330 cca's and the engine starts up really easy. No more cranking and cranking on it. Even when it was cold out side it gave no problems. You might consider changing the battery cables also. Will prevent problems in the future. Deka: ETX18L - Battery Service Corporation
  2. Hope this pic turns out. http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs260.snc1/10728_173441268720_167539198720_2846286_2357077_n.jpg
  3. BJ, you might want to see which cylinder your vac line is hooked up to. On my 89 it is hooked to the number 2 cylinder. I have hooked it to number 1 but it ran not to good.so I hooked it to number 2 where it is suppose to be.
  4. Just received mine the other day and had a chance to install it. Did the fix that Jack wrote up to fix the battery sensor. (Thanks Jack.) Battery fit perfect. Waiting for fuse update from Earl. Bike starts very fast every time. Even when hot. And on first push of starter button, with out having to hold it down as long as I use to. Am very happy with it. Test came this morning when I went to start it. Temps in the low 20"s last night and bike started right up with no hesitation.Bike sits out side with a cover on it due to I have no garage yet. Ride Safe. Bill
  5. Jack, just got the deka, but have not installed it yet. Been snowing at times and to cold to get outside. Need to go to RS to get resistors. I will also be changing the head light to a PIAA H4 and the driving lights to a PIAA H3. Less draw when I have the running lights on ...35W =75w. Instead of the 55w per light.
  6. Thanks Gary, will try this after I get the new battery. And will let you know what happens.
  7. Jack, just bought the deka battery. Waiting for it to be delivered. Have your fix for the red light warning waiting to be done. I hope that the radio shack here has what I need. Small store. I tried to disconect the wires that go to the antidives (electircal) up in the faring behind the head light and when I put on the foot or hand brake, I would blow a fuse. I believe that some how you need to by pass the ad but still have the circuit show that the ad are still in play. Just haven't figured out how to do that yet. Hope ya'll Have A Good Thanksgiving. Bill
  8. My 89 does the same thing. I even put led's for the brake light, and it still draws down and the warning light comes on but I have gotten use to it. So I figured that the anti dives are the culprit as that is part of the wiring. Don't know if it would be safe to disconnect them and ride that way, but for now I just go with it.
  9. I hope this comes out. Got it several years ago. To all that have served past , present and future. May God Bless and watch over. PASSING OF A GENERATION
  10. Veterans , Now that's a trike!!!! This is an awesome paint job of a tribute to Vietnam Veterans. The bike is a Boss Hoss, and the company that makes them uses Chevy 502 cu in Big Block engine. http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=5 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=6 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=7 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=8 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=9 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=11 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=12 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=13 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=14 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=15 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=17 http://webmail.aol.com/28878/aol-1/en-us/mail/get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.26197098&folder=NewMail&partId=18
  11. Would like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement. It really does help. When I do get the urge I go back and read all the post over again. Again thanks. Ride safe, Bill
  12. Not give up riding. Had you going. No I gave up smoking. Been smoking since I was 19, Cold turkey. Had to go back to Sacramento,Ca. to finish up on some workers comp test they wanted. On the way there I got sick. It got worse. I spent 3 days in my motel room coughing and sleeping. and just trying to get better. Did my test. Didn't get to see any friends while I was there as I was affraid that I would get them sick. Off and on I would try to have a cigarette. Well it didn't work, made things worse .Coughing was harder and ribs began to hurt as if I had fallen down and cracked them. Well, That did it for me. It has been a little over 2 weeks and haven't picked one up yet. I am still coughing but not like I was then. Guess my lungs are cleaning them selves up. The urge is still there and will probably will always be there. But then I think......Do I want 40 more years of riding or a short life of hacking and coughing and being put in the ground six feet under OR would I rather ride and have the air going around me then be sitting in some hospital with a tube up my nose. Also I would like more time with the family. Bottom line. Besides, I told the wife that what I save in not buying cigarettes, I can buy goodies for the bike. LOL. Be safe Bill
  13. Jack. Same thing happened to me several years ago. Lost every thing, didn't back up anything. Bought new computer and then a year later had the other one fixed. I took it to a place there on Fair Oaks by the school Deterdine. The guy charged me $200.00 to get it back in shape and he increased the memory too. Had it ready in a couple of days. I figured it could be used by the kids and it cost less than having to pay for a new one. When I bought the new one, I backed up all the os on a disc just in case. Just a thought
  14. Hay Jack, From what I saw on weather for Sacto0, you might need a pontoon boat to put you scoot on. 70* here and sunny. Nice riding weather.
  15. Here is a post by 5 bikes. Improving gas mileage... - VentureRider.Org

Infact going to take daughter on the bike to football game tonight as she is in the band. Feel for you guys back there in California. Do I miss it...........NO. In the mornigng have to turn heater on just to get the chill out of the air.42* in mornings.
  17. Congrats on the fish and the story.
  18. When you get to Santa Fe, plan on at least 2 days there. Old town is great. There is a mission(church) which is a must see. We were there 2 years ago and only for a couple of hours. Wish we had more time, but we had to leave the next day for home which was at that time Sacramento. We moved to Polvadera which is 2 1/2 hours south of Santa Fe about 2 months ago, and we love it here. Lots of places to see in the area. We haven't been back there but are planning on going again, probably when the kids have there next break from school. Wish I could be of more help and info. Have a good trip and be safe. Bill
  19. Well our trip to New Mexico was quite the adventure. We left Sacramento and just north of Fresno 2 of the straps on the left of the bike broke. We pulled into somerestaurant to get breakfast and went to Kragens to get new heavier straps. We left and started to cross the Tehacthapies on 58 and about half way up lost the plates to the trailer. Didn't go back to get it. When we got to Barstow the truck got a little hot. We left there early and got to Needles at 9 a.m. it was already 102+. We headed to Kingsman and then on to Williams. On the way there going up the mountains I was passing a semi and as I was about to the center of him I noticed that his trailer was coming into my lane. I honked and moved over and was half on the shoulder and on the dirt getting close to going sown 40 feet. I guess he finally woke up and realized what was going on and pulled over in his lane. We got to WilliamsAZ. and had to change my shorts. We spent the night there and the next morning headed to Albuquerque. This whole time I had to run with the heater on. Then we ran into some thundershowers. The kind that when you wipers are on fast can't keep up with. I kept my window down so that I could get some cool air. The wife was following in the van. When we got 40 miles from Albuquerque the truck finally had enough and boiled over. Had to have ti towed to my brothers house. I had informed the tow people that they needed a 1 1/2 inch ball to haul the trailer. The tow truck arrived and when he looked for the ball He didn't have on. We tried to get the one off my truck but I had no tools and he didn't have the big wrenches to take it off,so they had to send another tow truck for the trailer. 4 hours in all we had to wait. The next day at my brothers house we worked on the truck and turned out to be the radiator cap.A couple of weeks before we left I had the water pump and the timing belt replaced and the thermostat. But didn't even think about the cap. Well the tow was $234.00 . Very expensive cap. We arrived here in Polvadera N.M. and the next day the septic decides to back flow. My brother has a shipping container that he was using as a storage on top of the septic tank and can't get to it. Hopefully we can get it moved Wed. One of the neighbors is bring his dup truck to move it. We tried with a 4 by 4 dodge with a winch but it didn't budge. So we have had aporta potty in front of the house for 2 weeks and have to take showers like we are in a RV. You have to be fast. But all in all we like it here. The people are friendly and they wave to you. I will post pics as soon as we get every thing up and running. This is the first night that we have had a phone and Internet. So you all take care and if you happen to be in the neighborhood, Stop on by.
  20. I Had the same knock too. Thought the clutch was going. Pulled the clutch in and the no9ise would go away, then when I got the carbtune and syncked the carbs, no more noise. They were out really bad.
  21. works well on a 1st gen
  22. Well. I haven't caught Jack doing any thing to the water yet. But why give him the chance.LOL Gary the class room size in NM is like 17 students to a teacher and they get their own laptop to use in school. Here the teachers aids have been abolished, and there will be 40 to 50 students per teacher. Not good. And the busing of students have shrunk. We do not bus high school and middle schools any more, and special needs are mandated by Ca law.( use to be a bus driver for 6 years) Earl, thank for the prayers. We are going to take our time getting there. Furniture will not arrive till after a couple of days of us getting there. once we get settled I will send pic's
  23. JACK, will kinda miss the area, but I think we will like it down there. My cousin sent me a HOG letter from Santa Fe and I think that in August they are having some sort of get together in Albuquerque for all the dealers in New Mexico. Said that I didn't need to ride a Harley but to bring the bike anyway and get to meet some fellow riders in the area. When we were there, the people were so much friendlier. Will take pic's once we get settled. The person that has a house behind the one we will be living in rides a goldwing and is retired also. so if you happen to be in the neighbor hood, stop by and say hi. My cell phone will still be the same for a while.
