I know! I rode to work yesterday because the high was s'pose to be in the 50s. Problem was it was low 20s on the ride in. I took the long way home though... Very nice.

which GPS is the best now???
eazyduzzit replied to Ga Dawg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This is just an opinion, but when it comes to electronics I don't worry about which one is best. My reasoning is that (like you mentioned) as soon as I buy one they'll come out with one twice as good for half as much. I didn't worry about water resistance either, as I figure as little as I ride in the rain I can stick it in a saddle bag when it starts raining. I don't expect this to influence your choice, just like to put my opinion out there like if it mattered. -
Don, that will get old very fast believe me. I would come home from work and my inbox would be full of that crap. You can change who is allowed to send friend requests. I change mine to disallow spammers from sending friend requests and I don't get them anymore. JT

Hey Jerry, welcome aboard... I'm pretty new here too. I like the Midnight Ventures. I think they're the prettiest Venture out there.

Best place to get windshield and tail bags?
eazyduzzit replied to roadwarrior's topic in Watering Hole
I had a windshield bag on my V-Star, and used it all the time. That's the first thing I started looking for when I got my RSTD. I looked everywhere, but couldn't find a one. One day I noticed a leather fanny pack that my wife had. I cut the straps off of it and it lays perfectly on top of my speedometer housing. It doesn't need anything to hold it as it never moves, but I did have her sew a strap with velcro to it that wraps around the speedo housing. I only use it when I'm going on a trip though. It's not the most stylish looking, but it doesn't look too bad and it's functional. -
I love Tybee Island. I haven't been there in several years...

Same to you Bill. If the rain quits, I'm gonna ride. If it doesn't quit, I've got a woodworking project started that I'm gonna work on. Either way it's way better than being at work. Happy Thanksgiving!

Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
eazyduzzit replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If it will idle with the choke, but not without and dies when you twist the throttle it can't be getting enough gas. When you twist the throttle it's getting more air but not more gas and it dies. I don't understand why this happened after you and your son rebuilt the slave cyl. There isn't a connection that I'm aware of. -
It sounds good to me. I sent him my bank account info and debit card number etc. Hopefully he'll cut me in on the deal.

I don't know how they do it either. The truck dealership I work for buys nylon load securing straps that are made overseas. We sell them for around $7. I don't see how they even buy the raw materials for that price, much less manufacture, assemble and ship here and we put our markup on it for that price.

Biker shot in back. Shooter claims self defense

That reminds me of when I was a kid. A friends dad painted his old pickup a cool blue color. I saw it and told him it looked good. He said "Yeah pop could have done a lot better if he'd had a decent brush". I walked up a little closer to it and sure enough, he had painted it with a brush. You couldn't even tell until you were right up on it.

Looks good... I like it!

Thank God he's OK. I've been watching your posts, and didn't know what to say. I'm glad everything is turning out alright.

I got to spend a week in the desert several years ago. It was some of the prettiest scenery I'd ever seen outside of Tennessee.

Yeah, the main thing is that you're OK. Many aren't so lucky.

Congratulations! I quit many years ago and made the mistake of taking up chewing tobacco, quit that and started dipping. Anyway suffice it to say it's been a lifelong struggle. I'm free of it right now, and cannot stand the smell of cigarettes. I still get the urge to dip sometimes, but only when I'm around someone who does it. The main thing is once you've made it 6 months don't go back to it. I've seen lots of people have a moment of weakness and start back. It's a lot easier to stay quit than to quit again.

If I bought it, I wonder if the dealer would fix it for "a few hundred".

Rear shock PSI?
eazyduzzit replied to Ferrantelli's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I got my bike, I was told by a fellow RSTD owner not to put any air in the shocks. So far I have been running 0 lbs. even fully loaded. It rides great. It doesn't bottom out like my V-Star did. Would it ride better with air? -
I've never broken my collar bone. I did dive for a football and land on this shoulder once and had some shoulder pain for a while, but not in the same part of the shoulder. The pain stays in the right shoulder, and radiates up the right side of my neck. The only time I've had a pain in this same spot was years ago when I was in good shape, I would walk on my hands, and sometimes if I had been doing it for a while I would get this same sharp pain in the same spot. At the time I didn't think anything about it because I was supporting the the weight of my whole body in an unnatural position, and as soon as I'd quit the pain would quit.

It's funny you'd say that... I was riding home tonight doing exactly that (except with eyes open) I let go of the bars and I sat up straight with my hands where they are comfortable, and I think you're right. The bars need to come back a couple inches. We've tried this too before it got cold. It worked great, but it's not the same through a leather jacket. I already spent $300 on a backrest. I love it, but I still get that shoulder/neck pain. I'm rubbing it right now as I type mith my right finger.

I've been getting a sharp pain in my shoulder after I ride for a couple of hours. It starts out feeling like someone is stabbing me with an ice pick in the area marked with an X 0n the silhouette below. I just started riding again after 25 years without a bike. I really thought I would work through it after a while, but it just seems to be getting worse. My wife and I were on the bike for 6 hours yesterday and the pain was unbearable. I've tried adjusting the bars up and down and it hasn't helped. After a while it spreads up into my neck and makes it hard to turn my head to my right. I've read posts where others have had a similar problem. I'm curious if anyone has had success in fixing the problem. I'm willing to try about anything.

It looks sorta like a Harley loaded up on that trailer...
