    Horns

GeorgeS, A little more info please. You say you stuffed the horns into the air intake in the fairing. Were you not using the air deflectors, or did you think the air wasn't really a help anyway? After installation, were you able to put the plastic grills back on or did you leave them off? Did you position the horns so they face forward and away from the drivers ears or is it a matter of space and anyway they can be stuffed in there is the right way? Thanks.
  3. I attached a pic of my old Blue & White 96. Notice the colors are a bit different, especially on the tank from the one that okiestrrider posted. Weird.

    got it

I was hoping to see some 'Moose Hunting' pics...or did you see any?
  5. Thanks for the link Bongobobny. I was in the right place but my screen is quite small on this old iMac and I did not know to scroll to the bottom! I was just looking at the pictures on the top. Maybe old age showing up there...just looking at the pictures. Thanks again.
  6. Where is this in the classified section? I looked under the 'classified' tab at the top, but there are no bikes or parts listed for user 'Masterguns'. Am I not in the correct spot? Thanks.
  7. Here is a pic of my rear caliper and brake pads. Note how they were worn, I believe I had two stuck pistons. Have since removed pistons and put new seals, pads, etc. Haven't had a chance check to see if they are wearing the same way as the old. Sorry for pic quality guys.
  8. Brian, Thanks for the info regarding bikes into Canada from the US. I had heard that before, but I still don't see the reason for it. A bike under warranty is under warranty. I remember my 96 Royal Star. At the time, the US boys were getting things under warranty that the Canadian dealers would not do. For one, the rear shock. Yamaha made me so darn mad I sold it and swore never to buy another...but that's another story! Hope you get yours running for next spring.
  9. Warranty should be same no matter which side of the border! Dealer in Medicine Hat stated that they are transferable. Should just go in with serial # etc and it should be a done deal. All he has to do is look it up on his computer. Please let me know how you make out, because this spring I will be doing the same as you LOL.

BigBob, Glad you made it home again. I had a great time visiting with you and your lovely wife...especially her racey stories regarding the cathedral! Hope things in Regina go well for you. As always, if there is anything I can do, please let me know. Hi from Kristin as well. By the way, her team won the Volleyball tourney at Gravelbourg the last weekend we visited.
  11. A few days ago I stopped at a Yamaha dealer and was talking to a young salesman about Ventures, and repairing damages to the fairing etc. He said the paint codes (and maybe even the paint) were available from Yamaha and you should be able to paint and get a match. Is this true? Can you actually match up to the original color or do you basically have to repaint the entire fairing if you have some damage from a drop etc? Has anyone tried this? I am looking at a bike that has some scratches and minor damage and would like to restore it to original condition. Thanks.
  12. I am probably up for it. Depends where and when, but I am sure if given enough advance notice I can make it work. Would really work if I happened to be going by that spot on a ride anyway.
  13. So awhile ago, I replaced my stator. I did not put any kind of sealant around the plug that the wires go through. I remember having a dickens of a time getting the wires through those plug holes! The wires are covered by some kind of woven material...but I managed. Now after returning from a 6 day trip, I find I get a few drops of oil, under the side stand. I removed the cover, and the wires coming out of the stator have a covering over them, rubber or vinyl or something of that sort. When I squeezed this covering, it was saturated with oil, and a lot came out. I am thinking that since it was full, it would continue dripping. Now that I have squeezed oil out, it will probably take awhile to saturate the covering again. Finally to the question....would it help to apply silicone or gasket seal material to the outside of the wires where they exit the stator? I probably will never get all the oil and grease off the outside of the wires and am not sure if this stuff would stick, or even do any good. Whats the concensus? Just put up with the drips once in awhile, or try and stop it? Sorry for long winded story. Thanks.
  14. Anyone know how to do this on an 89? I find my throttle just a bit sticky and my cruise control seems to keep increasing, then suddenly really increase, and suddenly go right back down to where it should be. Perhaps lubricating would help get rid of this problem. Thoughts?
  15. Thank you very much for the info Sarges46. Bob is a great guy and all our thoughts and prayers are directed at him for a speedy recovery. Anything I can do from this end? I am in Swift Current, about 1 hour from Bob's home.
  16. Thanks everyone. You all confirmed what I thought also.
  17. Bags are different Rocket, so I suspect the luggage guard will not fit. Just a thought.
  18. Will the following parts from a 1985 Venture fit a 1989 Venture? Right luggage guard mirror fairing Thanks.
  19. Don't ask me how this happens LOL, but if you have problems with the Class/CB panel cracking around the hold down screws this may help you. Since all of mine were cracked and broken, I removed all the screws (6) and replaced them with m4-0.7x25 metric screws. I also went to hardware store (home hardware in Canada) and picked up 6 beveled washers in size 00 in the facet section. Simply thread the screw through the washer and then through the panel. It's not as neat as the original recessed screws with caps, but it does hold the panel down and doesn't look all that bad. Hope this helps someone in the same situation. See attached photos.
  20. I find that I am in need of two parts for my ride. #1 If any member has the right engine guard that is not scratched up I would appreciate a heads up PM or email and maybe we can strike some sort of deal. #2 A buddy stopped by with his bike, and he has a bit of chrome on the fairing, directly below the mirror, on the fairing edge. I do not think this was a stock item, and looks to be some sort of stick on aftermarket. If someone has two of these (right and left) on a bike that they can be peeled off...or if there is a supplier for these I sure would like to know. Thanks all.
  21. One other thing it could be. Back in the days of my 96 Royal Star I remember posts similar to this and everyone said to check a switch...I believe it is called a "rollover" switch. It stops the fuel pump if the bike is rolled over but if a hard jar shakes the bike, perhaps it could be fooled into shutting down. Just another idea folks. Then again, I could be right out to lunch on this one!
  22. I used to own a 96 Royal Star Classic. The windshield at that time was not "quick connect" by todays standards. However, remove 2 bolts, loosen 2 others, and I believe it would be off. By the way, they were adjustable for angle and height with those same bolts IIRC.
  23. see this thread http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19708&highlight=fuel
  24. Just replaced one on my 89 at around 72000km (43000 miles). No warning...just quit working one day.
  25. I only ordered the stator...no recitifier. I got model RMG080 if that helps. Give them a call, and I am sure everything will be cleared up.
