  7. ... and look at all the nice (well most of them) greetings I got! Yep, I do look a little like the guy (the happy one, single and loooking) on the right, Phoneman. And BlackOwl, I'll keep looking for Condor to see if I can chase him to keep him young in HIS oldER age. And a big congrats to MEL ... at 75!!! Le't keep em all :rotf:trying to keep up with us Mel! LOL And again, thanks to all of the kind greetings. Didn't go back to the post till tonight! Made my day. What a gang we DO :bighug:have here! Jack Z aka, DePreach (for motorcycle weddings; LOL)
  8. ... to both of you; sure :bighug:why not! LOL. I pegged the right side of my 86 VR center stand for a second ONCE, and plan never to do that again when my wrench said that would be about the time the rear tire would lift off the pavement. So a little caution is perhaps in order. JackZ
  9. ... my helmet, and man do I remember that pavement :depressed:going by my visor! I wear full helmet all the time, and no one rides with me without a helmet. Just saying. Be safe all. I believe CO requires it for the PASSENGER but not the driver. THAT does NOT make sense to me! Jack T
  10. ... help from someone local to Ft Colllins, CO, on how to mount a flag holder on my 86 VR I am just NOT that mechanically inclined. However, ... I am retired and think this is one of the highest honors in riding. Thanks :fingers-crossed-emofor any referrals for help. Jack T
  11. Liquid Fence. It keeps my dog from chewing on my shrubs and trees! They also have a brown powder, I think called 'Uncle Earl's Dried Blood ... it is dried blood and red peper by Ean Enterprises 425-413-0371. Good luck and happy Easter! Jack T:fingers-crossed-emo
  12. We will see if the photo inserts! Jt
  13. ... I am able to insert it here. Enjoy. Jack T PS Says invalid ULR; it's a Jpeg and under my C drive. Anyone got any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Response wi:fingers-crossed-emoll be welcome. PSPS CAN be educated at 73, believe it or not!!! J
  14. Beautiful Colorado! Ya, I know, sometimes for short rides, .... and ALWAYS next to the foot hills in real winter; that's not the time to trust mother nature in the Rockies. Yesterday, 80 miles, day before, 100. Wed ca 150. Yep, I am:whistling: always scheeming for a ride, too (at :backinmyday:73 :cool10:this month). Rubber up, and ya all enjoy those delicious miles! Let me know if any of you are near CO, and I'll ride behind .... LOL. Jack T
  15. Venture members are tough. You should be able to get some kind of city aid, perhaps volunteers, to get you to and from your PT; home care should help tremendously! I had both of mine replaced at the same time in 04, and I am doing great. As above from others, PT is the key. Keep fighting for all you can get, then see if your PT can prescribe a gym (ins might help or other forms) and get instructions on specific machines for strengthening the knee muscles. The muscles are the only part of your knee now that will hurt if not strengthened. Started riding again in 06 and am doing well with over 32,000 under my belt on the new knees. In fact riding :cool10:with my knees BACK is now more comfortable on my 86 VR than on the forward rest boards! Also, riding will even further strengthen you knees after PT. So if no staff infection, etc., you're on your way! Keep us all posted and fiddle me a PM or call if you're headin into CO! Prayers for stubbbbbbornness, good care, and great PT. Jack T
  16. On my 86 VR I always gear her down to 4th, that way I have a stronger, and most instant way of getting power. As well, as the wind leans the bike say right, I slightly lean left. It works for me. Never will forget crossing the Mo river on her on a cross check metal bridge floor you could see the river though, and I was literally riding in a 'V' shape, bike leaning one way, and me leaning the other way. Of course, watching the wind on the brush and trees BEFORE it hits me helps, as well as tighting up the crotch when there is a large opening on either side of the road. Here in CO it is not at all unusual to have winds of 20-30 with gusts on up to 50. Beyond 50 I try to park it. Ya all stay up, ya here! And please let me know when you are going to ride in CO as I am always looking :fingers-crossed-emofor ridding buddies. Any sex:cool10: will do too! LOL .. Jack T
  17. ... privately, but this is probably better as it will help you keep us all straight. Use my gift (so designated) for a chance for Dan to win. :fingers-crossed-emoThanks .... just friends helping friends. Jack T
  18. Continued prayers for all of us; what a fall, and the news is encouraging. Jack Tharp
  19. Somewhere someone commented on electric wired gloves that had wires in the palm, back of hand, wrist AND fingers, with a lifetime guarantee. Any body know of them? Thanks for the help! LOL Rode in Ft Collins, Co yesterday, 60's, but with electric gloves that really work I would ride ca 45 or so. Jack T
  20. ... 18 wheeler's tracks and ice from Delta CO to Hotchkiss (19 miles only, forutnately), light ice and troughs clear and riding same. On this last one I was MOST CERTAINLY awake when I got home! Really stupid; should have moteled in Delta. it was all a matter of the Good Lord's Luck! Never enjoyed covering up my 1st 86 VR that night: Jack Z
  21. :bighug:47, son's bike 48 BRAND NEW YVR 86, Ursula black on gold; beautiful: 87000 miles Now Squidley's 1986 brown on gold with Lonna's permissioin:whistling:: 76000 and still going smooth! Jack Z
  22. AutoZone carries one :lightbulb:for about $26 including tax. Has a light, good gage, plus the 'push-down' type of lock on the valve stem; a MUST for tat Venture style wheel. Weighs less than 2 lbs, ans sice is about 10x12 inches. That way you don't have to hunt for air with that kind of 'L' mount. and your good on 86 will make the trip just fine. :cool10:Wishing you safety, and rubber down! Jack T
  23. in Ft Collins, CO: $48.50. all vehicles are on the up here in FC and probably CO; budget deficits, you know. Still worth every penny ... when I'm riding! Jack T:cool10:
  24. The Gold Wings were too hard to shift with my new knees; the position was just far too tight. Just wanted to ad that to the chatter here. Jack T
  25. First was an 86, the beautiful Ursula Gold on black; I traded my 85 Yamaha XS1000 (fully loaded) on this new baby on the show room floor and my folks gave me the difference as a gift! Rode her 89,000 till a deer finally tried to ride my front fender, and I was just too tired of riding to buy her back and rebuild the plastic and a little of the chrome. One of my dummmmmm mistakes. Off till 2006 till I caught the fever here in Ft Collins Co by being to closed to some friends who ride. Took the training course even though I had the license (one of my smart things). Then I bought the same identical 86 VR from Squidley and Lonna in 2006. WHY? I'm 6 foot now, was 6'3", and that low saddle is perfect. And I love the smooth power, low maintenance, and great ride. I love those 60/40 linked brakes, too, even though I know there's some debate on them. That feature saved my bacon in several instances where I dropped from 50 mph to zero in what felt like seconds, and in fact was. Enjoy riding and I'll look for ya when you come to CO! Jack T
