3rd shock option for 2nd gen
Freebird replied to 67mini67's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've never heard of them but the price is certainly not bad. I wonder though if it is made specifically for a bike as heavy as ours? They say that the physical dimensions will work but I would want to if the shock is actually designed correctly for our bikes weight. I know that Works builds the shock custom for our bike, rider/passenger weight, etc. -
We'll see. I sent them an email.

Yea, he had some real problems somewhere. I've seen several of these bikes Dynoed and they typically come in in the mid to upper 70's.

OK folks....I just started the official maintenance day thread in the regional rally forum and also added it to the calendar. So now you have all winter to make your plans to attend. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53655 Like we used to say way back when we USED to be cool...."be there or be square". OK...maybe we were never cool but that's another story.

It looks like a bike that might attract those who like the ergonomics and styling of the first gen but probably not for those of us who love the relaxed cruiser style of the second gen. I think it looks very nice but it is just not my style.

Winters knocking..what are your plans for the bike this winter?
Freebird replied to 1BigDog's topic in Watering Hole
All RSVs have the 4 hoses hanging out the bottom. They are various drains and should not be plugged off. They have nothing to do with the AIS system. If the AIS truly has been removed, all you have to do is remove the tubes connecting the front and rear carb boots and replace them with 4 caps. Very simple. -

I THINK Ken rides a second gen. It is a bit difference. I think he will need two of the vacuum caps and there is a hose on each side that would hook to the other port on each side. They go to the AIS system. -
WOW...that's about a 20HP increase. Pretty amazing.

I'm sorry if I made you feel that your input was not welcome, that was not my intent. I was just trying to explain my reasoning for TRYING to separate the classifieds from the forums. I agree with you about Gmail. It is a constant battle and Yahoo can be also but a lot of folks continue to use them. I use a different method here that works fairly well weeding those spammers out.

I will just recommend that you do your homework. They do look cool but from the research I have done, they are really very poorly made Chinese junk. There are also a LOT of complaints online about the owner, Kelly Kikkert.

You have no idea how much time it takes to watch for and later delete all the posts here about items for sale. If they are posted in the proper area, the classifieds, they get automatically deleted when they expire. When they are posted in the forum, I have to go back and search for them and then delete them at some time or another. I have asked many times that people NOT post their for sale items in the forums but that request has gone ignored for the most part. Even when people DO post an item in the classifieds, they usually find it necessary to post here to tell everybody that they posted it there. Sort of defeats the purpose.

No, I don't think it was her. I think it was an American based company that posted them here. There was an Australian company that had our patches listed on their website though. One with the map of Australia in the background and another with a map of the USA in the background. I didn't mind you having a patch made up and specifically gave you permission to do so but I don't want anybody selling them online to whomever. I sent that site an email informing them that they were using our logo without permission. I never heard back from them but they did remove the patches from their site. I don't know if that was your lady or not. If so, I apologize for any confusion but they should not have been selling them.

I have never owned a Roadie but have ridden them several times. I actually do enjoy riding them and think that they are a beautiful bike. For me, it comes down to long distance comfort and not so much for me but for my wife. To be honest, there are a LOT of bikes out there that I like and if I did most of my riding alone, there would be several choices for me. When you add a passenger to the equation though, that changes things a LOT. There are just very few bikes out there that offer the passenger room and comfort of the RSV.

Absolutely. IF I ever do that, it will be a separate section.

I appreciate the comments folks. We'll see how it goes now. Just to clarify for anybody who may be misunderstanding though, there will NEVER be an additional charge for supporting members to post to the classifieds. Any discussion about paid classifieds would be for non-members and even then only on a pre-approved basis.

I am 6'2 or so and went with a taller than stock windshield. I think as important as the height though is the width. There are several aftermarket shield out there that are about 4" wider than stock (2" on each side) and I think that makes a huge difference also.

Yep....I'm ready too. Just tell me where to send my donation.

I sure hope that this doesn't turn into a debate. What he asked was: My question is to those of you that conceal carry. What do you do with your weapon in a situation like this. Can't take it on the ship, but I'm a little concerned about locking it in the vehicle for 6 days. Any suggestions would be appreciated. He didn't ask if he SHOULD carry..he didn't ask what anybody thought about a person's right to carry..etc....he didn't ask if he should leave it at home. He simply asked what OTHERS WHO CARRY do with their firearms in such situations.

Well I'm proud of you but...uh...any idea how much THEY raised. I am up to the challenge though.
-
No, really hadn't given it much thought but maybe I should. As least purge those expired members who haven't checked in for a long time.

Well, I just changed it so that only supporting members can post to the classifieds. We'll try that for a while. I may add a "pay" section for outsiders who wish to post there but I don't expect it would get much use. Most of those who try to abuse the system are the same ones who wouldn't pay a dime to start with. We do have some ads there now that were posted by trial members and/or expired members. I will not remove those but once they expire, that will be the end of them unless I change something in the future.

NO NO NO......NEVER publicly admit that the Squid Boy might be right. There is NOTHING right about that YOYO and in the rare case that he MAY make sense, you can almost be assured that Lonna was behind it.

To be honest, I wouldn't really care what kind of gas mileage it gets. Within reason of course. I wouldn't be happy with 10 MPG but I really don't base any motorcycle purchasing decisions on gas mileage. I ride for fun and enjoyment and would be willing to take a gas mileage hit if the bike makes me happy. The only reason I pay attention to the gas mileage on my RSV is that it is a partial monitor of any possible issues with the engine. Otherwise, it is what it is. Now I realize that some folks use their bikes for daily transportation and that some do it because it can be a more economical means of getting somewhere. For me, that's just not the case.

I tell you folks...if they EVER finish the touring model and make it a true full blown touring bike with full fairing, stereo, cruise, etc. then I would have to look REAL closely.
