  1. I wouldn't go out a buy a new 404 now but if I had one already, I would have no problem running it until it was worn out.
  2. HA...I managed to keep my mouth shut. VERY unusual.
  3. Shut up Don...shut up...don't SAY ANYTHING.....keep your mouth shut....:ignore::ignore:
  4. You guys keep looking for differences. He said NOT different between the two...but something on BOTH that is different than usual.
  5. It may have taken Yamaha to get it right, but they were not the first.
  6. I'll add ONE thing to that. REGARDLESS of your mileage, it would be a great time to check and lube the steering head bearings. Yamaha was very stingy with the grease on these bearings.
  7. The wind deflectors are different than MOST. I have seen something like them before so I don't know if that's what you mean or not.
  8. No, I remember that one also. There was also a Venture though.
  9. The VMax rear will certainly give you the best bang for your buck. I have both. They Dyna fine if you want to run it up to a higher redline but that is about all it buys you.
  10. I swear there was a picture of one posted here at one time but I can't find it now. I think it was a post to one that somebody found for sale somewhere. Very low mileage that had only been used for parades or something.
  11. If you have a problem with it in the future, one very easy way is to slip the axle in. That holds it perfectly in line and then you can just push and turn it until it is seated. Then it will stay when you pull the axle back out to put the spacers and etc. in.
  12. Yes, will get Hillis added this evening. Also BuddyRich.
  13. Don't you need to get ready for work. Yes he is and thanks. I will get him added tonight and may find somebody else when I go through the classifieds to move the ads.
  14. OK...apparently only the admin can actually move ads. I will get them moved tonight.
  15. Well maybe I'm the only one who can move them then. If you found the "Edit" button, right below that should be "Delete" and below that should be "Move". If you don't have those links that it must be an admin function. If that is the case, I will try to get them all moved tomorrow evening. Right now, it's bedtime for me.
  16. OK, I added sub categories for the vendors mentioned previously.
  17. Well, it is done. I'm sure there will be some complaints but I'll deal with them and make changes as necessary. The way it is set up right now, at least I HOPE the way I have it set up, is that only people who are pre-approved will be able to upload ads to that area. At this time, I have added Skydoc, Micarl, Rick Butler, Carbon_one and Ponch. I may have missed somebody so if I did, just let me know. These people SHOULD be able to upload their ads to that area if I have it set properly. This are will NOT be for people who just happen to be parting out a bike, doing a group buy, things like that. It is only for people who are established members who have been offering special products to other members for some time now. Receiving permission to post to that are will take more than somebody just joining today and then wanting to post to that area tomorrow. It will require a minimum time as a member, requirement to be a supporting member, actively involved in the forum and/or at our events. In other words...it is TRULY designed to be for people who happen to be members first and vendors second. Hope that makes sense. I THINK that those mentioned above that already have ads posted can move them to the new area. If not, let me know and I'll move them all. I think you can go to your ads, click on "product options" in the upper right corner and select "move". Then look at the bottom of your ad and there should be a drop down menu where you can select "Member Vendor" as the destination. I moved about 3 ads to the new area while I was testing it. I may even take this a step further. I may create sub categories under the member vendors category and actually give each of these vendors their own category. That might make it even easier for folks to find what they are looking for from a particular vendor.
  18. Seeking your opinions. I've been thinking about adding a new category to our classifieds area. I don't know yet what it will be called but it will be for our established members who offer products and/or services to our members. I'm talking about people like Carbon_one, Skydoc, Rick Butler, MiCarl, etc. It will NOT be for any new person who just joins up for the purpose of peddling goods here. Posting to the new area would be with pre-approval only. It will require that a person has been an active member here for some amount of time and has proven themselves to be a true VentureRider member. The reason for this would be to make it easier for all of you to find these products and services as they often get stuck back several pages in the classifieds and are hard to find quickly. So....do you think that this would be helpful?
  19. Yea, it's really not worth it unless you find it a LOT cheaper. I bought the Glock 36 last week. I found it in another state for a full $40.00 cheaper. Most FFL dealers will charge $20.00 to take delivery of it for you. By the time you add shipping to that, it negates any advantage to buying it out of state. I just bought it locally and paid the extra $40.00.
  20. If I'm not mistaken, that's the only actual recall ever issued on these bikes and that one was only for the '07 year model.
  21. I can actually see both sides of this issue. I own the Carbtune and have used it for many years. I am 100% confident in the job that it does. I also agree with Kent though that they are NOT without their faults. I have indeed found that the rods can stick and require tapping on the tubes to make sure that they are moving freely. I have found though that if you remove them from time to time and clean them that they rarely stick. I have checked mine by hooking each to the same port and found them to be accurate if clean and the tubes held vertically. I have NOT found that they have to be held perfectly vertical but they have to be pretty close to vertical. I do actually think that the dial type vacuum gauges are a better choice. I will continue to use my Carbtune but if I found myself in the market for a new tool for doing this job, I would probably go with the dial gauges.
  22. I pretty much agree. I've been through customs in many places including England, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela...I know I'm forgetting some. It has usually been non-eventful. I have on a couple of occasions run across some of those guys who had obvious attitudes but by being polite and just answering their questions, I never gave them a reason to go off on me. With ONE exception and that was entering Mexico late one night after a flight into Mexico City. On my previous visit to Mexico City, I was told that I should have have filled out a customs declaration form my my personal laptop computer. They were very nice and simply told me that it wasn't required unless I was bringing it in as a sample product or to sell. So this time, I didn't fill out the form. This time I got an agent that demanded to know why I had not declared my computer and he had a very bad attitude about it. I explained to him what I was told the last time and he started getting ugly about it. Maybe it was due to the long flight or the late arrival time but I lost my cool just a little bit and probably raised my voice a bit when I told him that if they couldn't agree among themselves whether or not I am supposed to fill out the form then HOW THE HELL was I supposed to figure it out. I was a bit angry by then. Now, I was very stupid to take that attitude with him and am lucky that I didn't end up in some Mexican jail but for some reason, he backed down very quickly. The look on his face was total surprise and I could tell that he was suddenly very unsure and lost his confidence. I have always chalked it up to the fact that he was fairly young and probably not too long on the job. Whatever the reason, he got very friendly and passed me right on through. I sure scolded myself later though about my reaction and never let it happen again.
  23. I have not received a quote back from the supplier yet. Hopefully I will have more information either today or tomorrow.
  24. LOL...now you KNOW that I was NOT agreeing with you.
  25. OH MAN....I wish I could be there. I KICK BUTT in Foosball.
