Don't Try this Kiddies. Not nice Border Guards.
Freebird replied to mrich12000's topic in Watering Hole
I pretty much agree. I've been through customs in many places including England, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela...I know I'm forgetting some. It has usually been non-eventful. I have on a couple of occasions run across some of those guys who had obvious attitudes but by being polite and just answering their questions, I never gave them a reason to go off on me. With ONE exception and that was entering Mexico late one night after a flight into Mexico City. On my previous visit to Mexico City, I was told that I should have have filled out a customs declaration form my my personal laptop computer. They were very nice and simply told me that it wasn't required unless I was bringing it in as a sample product or to sell. So this time, I didn't fill out the form. This time I got an agent that demanded to know why I had not declared my computer and he had a very bad attitude about it. I explained to him what I was told the last time and he started getting ugly about it. Maybe it was due to the long flight or the late arrival time but I lost my cool just a little bit and probably raised my voice a bit when I told him that if they couldn't agree among themselves whether or not I am supposed to fill out the form then HOW THE HELL was I supposed to figure it out. I was a bit angry by then. Now, I was very stupid to take that attitude with him and am lucky that I didn't end up in some Mexican jail but for some reason, he backed down very quickly. The look on his face was total surprise and I could tell that he was suddenly very unsure and lost his confidence. I have always chalked it up to the fact that he was fairly young and probably not too long on the job. Whatever the reason, he got very friendly and passed me right on through. I sure scolded myself later though about my reaction and never let it happen again. -

I agree but 10" low at 10 yards is excessive to me. I would be shooting it off some sand bags and even letting somebody else try it to verify that it's not something that you are doing and if it is truly shooting that low, I think I would be trying to return it.

Well, it is done. I went this morning with the intention of buying a Glock 30. I liked it because of the high capacity (10 rounds). When I got there though, I ended up comparing it to the Glock 36 and even though the 36 doesn't hold as many rounds, it is quite a lot thinner and would be a much better choice for concealed carry should I ever decide that I want to do that. So, I came home with a new Glock 36. I shot it and the 30 a few months ago at a gun range in Toledo, OH so I already knew how they shot. It was just a tough decision between the 30 and the 36 but I am happy with the choice that I made.

I did look into the Judge and did a lot of research on it. After reading quite a lot of range tests, I have decided that it is NOT a good gun for self defense. I think it's a neat concept and would be great for keeping around for snakes and etc., the tests show that it is simply not a great weapon for personal protection. I'm not concerned about hitting a target. I just know that I will need to do some shooting to re-train myself. I have no doubt that even right now, I would be accurate enough to get the job done.

The riding is OK...but unfortunately..for several reasons we just didn't get much riding in this summer. There is a place about 40 minutes from me that has them for $369.00. I'm not getting one though. I went this afternoon to buy one and they had it right there in the case but I was advised by three sales people there to avoid it. They said that they have sent back more of this model for various issues than any other gun they have ever stocked. This was the second gun shop that told me the same thing. The first one didn't have one in stock so I didn't put much faith in what they said. I just figured that they were trying to sell me something else. So, I almost bought a S&W MP45 but just couldn't make myself do it. They sell the Smith and the Glock 30 for $559.00. I have shot the Glock 30 and really do like it. It is also a bit smaller than the Smith. BUT...they were sold out of the Glock. Once again I came home without one. There is another shop close by that sells the Glock for $20.00 more. I make visit them tomorrow if I have time.

Yes, I agree with Earl. Check the classifieds and you'll also see that he sells a kit to remedy the issue.
-
Yes it will. I've used mine many times for that purpose.

Now you have brought up an issue that I have to deal with. Over the past few months, I have gone completely blind in my right eye. I haven't tried shooting since losing that vision and will have to figure out what the best solution is for me. I know that I can continue to shoot right handed but use my left eye to aim or I can try shooting left handed. I plan to try it both ways and just see which feels better to me. I still forget sometimes that I am now blind in that eye. I was at a friends house the a few days ago and he had just picked up a set of HD mufflers and we were wondering if they had the catalytic converter in them. The first thing I did was pick one of them up and hold it up to my right eye to find out if I could see all the way through it. Nope...I couldn't...not with THAT eye.

I have been looking at a Taurus also...but the Millennium Pro .45. I've read great reviews of it online but then the first shop that I stopped at told me that they didn't carry that model because they had too many problems with it. I then went back and did more research and found out that there were indeed some problems when they first came out but they are on the third generation now and are very highly rated. So...I'm still looking at all my options but still leaning towards the Millennium Pro.

I got my flu shot last Monday, no side effects at all from it. I get one every year and have never had a problem.

I honestly don't know who made them all. I never did any of them. Sorry.

Be careful what you put in your bikes. The EPA has now approved E15 Ethanol. At this time, they are saying that it is good for vehicles made in 2007 and later but they are saying that they will likely revise that to 2001 models and later. MANY small and large engine manufacturers are warning that you should NOT use E15 in your vehicles because it will damage rubber parts and plastics and can cause fuel leaks. Some environmental groups are even saying that it can cause increased pollution because ethanol contains only 66% the energy of gasoline so fuel mileage will likely suffer. The good news is that, for now at least, it is voluntary and many stations are likely to not add pumps for it or switch over from the E10 that many currently sell. Still, some will likely do it and you don't want to put it in your motorcycles. I don't want it in my cars either. It is absolutely crazy for them to do this. There was a story on the news earlier this week about meat prices going up due to the higher cost of corn. Looks like it is only going to get worse. Let's not let this get political. I'm thinking that it probably will and will then have to be deleted but for now, I'm just saying to WATCH what you put into your gas tank.

Of course I will ship it to Iceland for you. Extra postage fee? I think not. Yes it does, IF you pick it up in person. -

OOPS....yea...sorry about that. I forgot that I recently changed that.

I think that, including two for me, that's about 38. A few more and I'll try to get a quote for a quantity of 50. -
I agree that it's a bit hard to find but when you go to the classifieds, the third blue menu bar from the top on the far right side is a link that says "Place an Ad".

Geezzz...you don't have to take your ball and go home. I understand your points...I just don't necessarily agree with all of them. Some folks really like the Macs...some don't. That's why we have choices. It doesn't bother me at all that you like them and want to recommend them but at the same time, don't get bent out of shape if some folks don't agree. Many of the things that you mention are also available for the PC. A LOT of "creative" people now use nothing but the PC, they are about as capable as the Mac now days. I call on creative people every day in my business. Mostly graphic design companies, sign companies, architects, etc. I would say that well over 90% of them use a PC. I will agree that 10-15 years ago, the Mac was the hands down favorite for those creative tasks but just as you say that the Mac is far different than it was years ago, the PC has become much more competitive than it was years ago in for those creative tasks.

I understand. I'm doing the same thing....just letting them know that not EVERYBODY thinks so much of the Mac...even some of us who have tried them.
