  1. Well, now that my brother in law is living in the guest house, he has done most of the mowing. When I do mow though, I just use the push mower to do a couple of laps around the pond first. I came home the other day though and he had BOTH riding mowers stuck in the edge of the pond. Now if you folks keep telling about the dumb things you have done, I'm going to eventually have to tell my oil change story again. It used to be posted in the "Embarrassing Moments" section but I think it got lost back during the big crash and I never put it back.
  2. Well...ALMOST. The Roadstar grips are a tad longer. I don't remember exactly how much but they have to be trimmed a bit.
  3. When I get ready to put it all together, I'll see what I can come up with.
  4. Well, like I said, I don't think that Yamaha offers the ones that I have any longer but they have been on my bike for about 10 years and still look about as good as new.
  5. I have the foam grips also and love them. I tried a set of the KuryAkyn grips for one trip and that was enough for me. Yamaha used to sell foam grips for the RoadStar but I think they discontinued them. That is what I have on mine.
  6. Maybe...but some folks wouldn't have enough room besides their names for the number of them that they would get.
  7. I did the kickstand once myself. After a hard day of about 450 miles in steady rain, I was tired, wet, hungry and ready to call it a day. My wife and I pulled in to get gas just before getting to a hotel for the night. I pulled up to the pump and she got off. I then got off and started following her into the store. I heard a crash and looked around to see my bike laying on it's side. How DARE that woman not put the kickstand down when we stopped.
  8. Well..what would you prefer? If you are broke down somewhere and need assistance and one of them is willing to lend an helping hand, do you care if they are a supporting member or one who just reads here and perhaps makes some of the meets? I'm not being facetious, it's an honest question.
  9. Bumpity Bumpity Bumpity
  10. I think that Earl laid it out very well. It would be way to0 much trouble as far as I'm concerned for the little bit that it would buy you. I already have the VMAX final and the Dyna ignition and that is plenty for me. The only other thing that I may do someday will be to go to the heavy duty valve springs. I presently have the rev limiter set at 7500 and that's as high as I want to go with the stock springs.
  11. This pops up from time to time. It usually works itself out and is then gone again for a while. Folks on both sides of the issue, in my opinion, get a bit too defensive about it. I can let it go and hope that it fizzles out or delete it now and then people will be mad over "censorship".
  12. Looks very good to me. You should be very proud of yourself. I don't think I would have ever gotten the machine threaded.
  13. OK folks...I guess it's time for me to update the VRAssitance list. If you are not on it and want to be or if your telephone number or services offered has changed, please get it updated over the next few days. To be added to, removed or update your information, simply click on UserCP in the upper menu bar and then "edit details" in the left menu. Scroll to the bottom to add or edit your information. Probably early next week, I will get it all together and create a new .pdf document and Excel file for those who wish to can download.
  14. They came with both. Some came with the Bridgestones and some with Dunlop. Mine came with Dunlop.
  15. I don't think you'll find them anywhere. Probably your only choice would be to find a good upholsterer to redo yours. They could probably do them in pillow top if that is what you want.
  16. No apology necessary. Such things help us all discover those types of features. To be honest, I THOUGHT it was there but had to look before I posted the response.
  17. This is not true. You CAN choose who sees your information here. Just click on UserCP and the Profile Privacy in the left menu there.
  18. Here is a post with pictures of the '89 that I had with the pod filters. This thing ran like a scalded ape but there was much more to it than just the filters. It had the VMAX conversion that included the VBoost, Vmax heads, etc. Along with the pod filters it also had carb work done. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=337024&postcount=40 It was converted before I bought it so I really don't have any details on any of it.
  19. I agree. It sounds like it has the Baron's lowering kit installed. That kit includes a bracket to relocate the caliper as yours is.
  20. For those of you who use a Blackberry, I had a request to install the BerryBlab application and have done so. I have not tried it and have not heard back from the member who requested it so I don't know how well it works. I have been told that the Tapatalk application is really buggy for the Blackberry so if you want to try this one, you are welcome to do so. If you do, please report your results. I may try it also. http://www.berryblab.com/
  21. Yamaha just doesn't release that information. I've even email Yamaha in Japan a couple of times over the years and never even got a response from them.
  22. I've heard of the punch mark near the serial number too but don't know how true it is. If you buy an '86 or newer though, you don't have to worry about it.
  23. Glad to hear that you found a seat. Just to update the info about Bob's Corbin seat in case anybody is interested. It does include the riders backrest and the wrap around passengers backrest. That comes to a total of $907.00 at the Corbin website. His price of $400.00 includes all three pieces.
  24. Folks, the Ponderosa in Cody, WY has just a few cabins and they were all booked up. I had one of those reserved. I have just canceled my as Eileen and I have decided to take our chance on using our hotel points to save the money. So, they now have ONE cabin available. If you want it, you better call fast because it won't last long. You can call Linda at (307) 587-9203 tell her that you are calling about the cabin that Don Nelson had reserved. Please post here if you have reserved it so that others won't bother to keep calling. The downside is that you will likely be a neighbor to Squid boy.
  25. It is nothing new. The cd changer was an option starting in 1999 and has been an option until last year when they made it standard. I'm sure that they are REALLY trying to get rid of all those cd changers. It will still have the cassette and the same cd changer that has been available for more than 10 years. I would lay money that is the case.
