  1. You shouldn't have to scroll unless you have your screen resolution set very large. The site it designed to be viewed best at 1024 x 768.
  2. To my knowledge, Yamaha never made them for the RSV. Maybe they made them for something else and they worked, I'm not sure.
  3. Mine was with a local company. Don't know if there is something similar in your area or not. Here is a link to the company I was with so you can see the type of technology it is. http://www.axcesswave.com/
  4. The bike looks good. I've owned 3 Viragos, though the first two were the original 750 and 920 models. I later bought Eileen a 535 but she didn't care for it too much. It had a lot of rake and she found it hard to handle due to that. It was a nice bike though.
  5. Folks, I wouldn't put much stock in what the rep said. The fact is, he was just stating his opinion and doesn't know anything. Yamaha has proven year after year that they share NO information about future models with these folks. They are sent out to do a job and Yamaha ill equips them to do that job. The fact is, we won't know what 2011 will hold until the bikes are officially announced. I personally don't expect to see a new Venture. To be honest, I really don't expect to see a Venture at all. I may be wrong though. They may have something new but I expect that it will be the same or nothing at all. Whenever they end it, I do expect that there may be a year or two with no Venture at all before the new one is introduced. Now just like that Yamaha rep, these are just my opinions and mean nothing at all.
  6. I don't know anybody who has bought just the amp but we did have a member here who bought the entire kit from Bazooka and the results were less than satisfying at last report.
  7. Yea...and I wasn't even going to install them. I was just going to HELP install them.
  8. I would be glad to help you. You have to come to Ohio though. AND...I said HELP you...NOT install it for you. something about giving a man a fish or teaching him to fish and all that mess.....
  9. Just a little update. I spent another 5 hours at the doctors today. The injections that they did last week DID dissolve the blood vessels that were preventing the eye from draining properly and causing the high pressure but it was a temporary fix. I would have to get those injections every 4 weeks if I continue to treat it in that manner and even then, it would only work for so long. Sooner or later it will require surgery so rather than subject myself to those shots ever 4 weeks, I've opted to go ahead with the surgery. Part of the decision is also based up the fact that for some reason, those shots are NOT covered by insurance companies and the cost $867.00 EACH. So, on Wednesday August 25th, I will be going in for more surgery on the eye. It will be a combination of pretty much everything they know how to do. Laser, conventional, etc. They are also going to remove the cataract while they are in there because he said that this surgery WILL cause cataract problems and if they don't remove it now, we will be going back and doing it within a year. Now this surgery would not typically be problematic but because of my ocular melanoma in that eye, he warned me that it does carry some risk. Though I have had radiation on the tumor (that is what is causing this to begin with) and the tumor is shrinking, they cannot be 100% certain that there are no cancer cells floating around somewhere in my eye. He says that there is a small chance that this surgery could cause my cancer to matastesize. Unfortunately, there are really no other options and it's just a chance that I have to take. So, I'm in very little pain right now and am going to push this out of my mind for a few days but please keep me in your prayers week after next.
  10. Ponch, that looks fantastic. If I didn't already have the Baron's tach, I would be all over it. Another great job. Uh....I have to say though...I think your tach is just a WEE bit turned to the right.
  11. Before DSL became available to me, I had a point to point wireless system. Not satellite. It was actually VERY good except during really snowy weather. I would still be with them if they had ticked me off with an attitude one day. I don't know if that is available where you are but it worked very well. Very close in performance to my DSL service. There was no limit either.
  12. Would love to help but I have a spare rear wheel here but not the front.
  13. I have the Flanders bars on mine and have been very happy. No more pain between the shoulder blades. How much different are the RSTD bars than the Flanders bars that so many hear have used?
  14. HEY....I'm RIGHT HERE! Please talk about me behind my back.
  15. Good luck. I needed a hinge cover for my Nolan and like to have never found one. Finally got one at Dennis Kirk and it was the last one they had.
  16. As stated, there have been a couple of changes over the years but ANY of them are interchangeable as far as fit. You say you have an aftermarket seat on it now. Do you know what brand it is? There are several aftermarket seats available, Corbin, Russell, Travelcade to name a few. I have a Corbin on mine and love it but with the Corbin people either love it or hate it. Not much middle ground. I have a used Corbin in my garage that belongs to a friend and he wants to sell it.
  17. I've owned '83, '88, '89, and two 99's.
  18. I have the exact same modifications at Jet man. I think I have the rev limiter at 7250...maybe 7500...I don't even remember now. I think they recommend 7250 maximum though unless you install heavier valve springs. I'm pretty much content with the way my runs now.
  19. I would cut it...but you might want to check with Black Owl about my hair cutting expertise. I think it took him a while to get his straightened out again after my hack job.
  20. That weight for the 83-85 makes more sense. The others are probably correct. I agree with you about the pressure too....that makes no sense to me.
  21. According to the Yamaha specs in our history section which I took straight from Yamaha's published specifications, the RSV actually has more HP than the earlier Ventures. 83-85 - 90 HP 10.5:1 compression 86-93 - 97 HP 10.5:1 compression 99-Present - 98 HP 10:1 compression I thought that weight might be some of it but: 83-85 - 911 WET weight 86-93 - 783 Wet weight 99-Present 807 DRY weight It is still my opinion that the biggest difference is gear ratio. Also the fact that you hit the rev limiter way too soon plays a factor if you are actually running these things hard. Even with the VMAX rear in my '99, I still run 500 RPM lower than a first gen at 70 MPH in 5th gear. I haven't compared the RPMs throughout the entire range. The bottom line is that I think HP has nothing to do with it. The second gen has more than either of the first gens.
  22. Geeezzzz James...don't be telling all our secrets. Now everybody is going to want to be a part of the family. Seriously, it is always good to see you posting because it makes me think that you are feeling better. Keep your chin up my friend and know that like it or not, you are one of us.
  23. Agreed. I actually knew a guy who didn't like the way they looked so he took them off an rode without them. That was several years ago and I don't remember who it was but last I heard, he had not had any problems. I would NEVER do it though.
  24. I've got one of the 110V Lincoln's from Home Depot. It does about 95% of what I need to do around here. If I had it to do over, I would go with the 220V model. This one is fine for most of my needs but there have been a few times when I needed to weld 1/4" and thicker material. It will weld the 1/4" but you have to take it real slow and you will not get a nice looking weld. For most of what I do, the looks aren't that important so I have gotten by with it.
  25. Why would you think that? I don't mind at all. Maker's Mark....YECCCCCCHHHHH!
