A friend just sold his 07 VTX 1300 in ok shape and 30k kms, removable windscreen, new aftermarket pipes, every piece of chrome that was made for it, and rejetted carbs. He tried to sell for a couple of months and got 5300 bucks for it last Tuesday. According to Barry he felt it was hard to sell, because there are so many VTXs out there and sellers tend to lowball each other. Brian

removing scuff marks from seat
friesman replied to cabin boyz's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I find Armorall slippery and greasy , I found some stuff called renew/protect and its a 2 part process and does not leave a greasy residue on the motorcyclr seat and its safe to use on tires. ( I was always afraid of using armorall as I was afraid of it making the tires slip on the pavement) The Renew/Protect products I use now are called Blak and its a blackening compound, then you seal it with Gloz (if you want shiny finish) or Satin if you want a satin finish. It works great and I only have to use it twice a summer as it seems to last a long time. Here are some you tube vids about it. http://www.youtube.com/user/renewprotectvideo Brian -

Aluma has dealers all over in Canada, I am pretty sure there must be one in Calgary, or even red Deer. Or, just drive into Calgary to Markus' place and "borrow" Rockets Aluma, its just sitting there ....... Brian http://www.alumaklm.com/motorcycle-trailers/item/50-mct-towable-motorcycle-trailer.html

I hate cables hanging off me and the bike, that's why I've got things set up the way that they are. The GPS is wired directly to the bike thru the mount, my scalar headset is wireless and I get about 10 hours or more of music time using the FM transmitter,, and my BB I is connected to the scalar with bluetooth- I can make calls and rake calls this way. It may seem a bit confusing at first, but I don't get strangled getting off the bike. Lol

I like the kryakin longhorn offset foorpegs, they have a double swivel to allow you to mount almost anywhere. Ive got mine on the down tube of the crash bar and then swivil the footrest up to where I need it. I bought mine for about a hundred bucks, so shop around.. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/121/11761/ITEM/Kuryakyn-Longhorn-Offset-Dually-Highway-Pegs.aspx

Introduction and questions about my new (almost) ride RSV Millennium
friesman replied to 9Grenzen's topic in Watering Hole
Welcome to the nuthouse!!!! I would check dates on your tires with mileage that low, the tires are probably past their best before date and could be unsafe. Every tire has a oblong stamp with the date in the middle and anything over 5-6 year needs to be replaced. Also replace valve stem if its a rubber one, preferably with a all metal stem. Brian Darn! Dave beat me to it! -
Yeo, and no one had updated it

All the Canadian Tire stores in town stock and theur parts-only store called Parts Source has it too

I just turned on the FM transmitter on the 765t and listen to it on the bike speakers or on the wireless helmet speakers. But I do agree theres times its not quite loud enough, but it works great for me 98% of the time. There is a place to set volume levels for your directions and for your music but I didnt see any tone levels or equalizer. I dont use it for phone calls as my Scala helmet speakers do the Bluetooth hookup to my blackberry.

Last year when we had the INTL meet in Cody WY I dont recall anyone with carbs having altitude issues with the Beartooth Pass and that was over 11000 ft and the temps went from over 100f to high30s F on the ride that day. Brian

Talk to Big Bob aboiut space and comfort when he rode his Can Am to Cody Wy last year. This year he has a triked RSV when he went to Nelson Brian

I hope everyone there has a fantastic time!!!

I wouldnt use the rubber stem, I was on a ride with a bunch of VRO riders headed to Venture West rally a few years ago, when Lone Eagle had trouble controlling the bike as his tire went flat,. When he had a good look at it the rubber valve stem had a crack in it allowing a very fast leak happen. Brian

If you have an AVON, Ive heard that they wear really quickly once down to about where you are. Some guys are reporting being down to cords in something like a hundred miles when getting close to the end of life of the tire. Brian

83 antenna replacement
friesman replied to brant1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I dont know what the goldwings antennas look like, if you have a pic that might help. If you dont have a CB you probably find a regualr auto radio antenna cheaper. My 85 doesnt have CB and I wanted a shorter antenna, so I just went to a local version of Harbor freight and bought a 12 inch rubber coat antenna for about 10 buvks. My radio has a very slightly smaller range than before, but its really not noticeably worse than the 5ft high one that Yamaha had on there before. -
yep my 85 hates being more than 1/2 way up the sight glass, if it is mine spits it out of the breather tube that drops down just in front of the back tire perhaps your tube was over the exhaust when it puked out the oil. a manual is available in the tech section here. and ill look for a link from the Euro Venture group that has manuals as well as the service manuals and post it here for you. My sentiments exactly, but I also like to add that we shouldnt preach at someone that chooses not to wear a helmet, it reminds me of the reformed smoker preaching that everyone else should quit also

I noticed that my oil started getting dark real quick just before the clutch springs needed replacing and I noticed the clutch slipping a bit after that. Brian
