  1. There is a small opening above the spline thats capped with a plastic plug. it might offer some leverage. If your trying to put the shaft in while its attached to the rear housing, forget it. It does take some finessing and a delicate feel. Try and slide the shaft up the tube and gently bump the spline, which will be facing downward. Once you feel contact, gently lift up the shaft to try and raise the spline at the same time while gently pushing the shaft in. It may/will take a bunch of tries. Took me 45 minutes the first time, 2 minutes the next. And make sure you have the spring in place at the end of the shaft prior to putting on the rear housing. Dont ask..... Above all, have patience...walk away when getting frustrated. It helps. Also, before you torque the rear housing into place, install the rear axle first to properly align the housing.
  2. What a nice pup!! Actually the owner finally showed up and asked if I would be willing to keep her since he lives in an apartment. So, shes mine now. I didnt think he took good care of her. She doesnt even miss him. Heather, sorry, but Zeus is "fixed" and Xena will be spayed soon. No pups...But maybe I can convince "Dad" to get a dane pup for ya.......I sized him up, if I move fast I might be able to take him........on second thought....
  3. Heres some pics of Zeus's main squeeze and my new sweetie! XENA!!
  4. I got a new name for Eck's wing now........Chuck Berrys "My Ding-A-Ling" Bet you cant get the tune out of your head now..........
  5. Sorry to hear about your lay-off. I never thought id see things this bad in my lifetime. As far as those created jobs I just love it when a politician says fund this and it will create 100,000 jobs. For once I would just love to see actual proof of any jobs created by those promises. Who was actually hired? When? Where? If no proof can be offered than its nothing more than a falsified claim. Way too many numbers and claims of jobs are bandied about by our leaders. I want to see proof! OK, ill get off my soap box now......oh heck, who took my step stool.......
  6. Got you down, John......thanks!
  7. My friend came by with another mock up set today, made with thin aluminum to see how the new designed mounting bracket would look. Looks good to me. The holes to mount will be elongated for some side to side adjustments. My friend is just trying to get his hours reduced at work so he can start the cutting.
  8. I went to install my new ignition switch this am. Figured no more than an hour tops. Took off the seat, tank and disconnected the wires. Looked closely and saw the "security" bolts. WTF??? Real nice.....I walked away for an hour then approached it with a better frame of mind. Whipped out the trusty dremel, cut a slot in the head and whacked it out with an impact screwdriver. Took a few good whacks. Discovered that there is also blue loctite on those headless bolts. Since I have the Barons risers, the stock leftover handlebar bolts fit perfectly. At the time I was cursing out the genius at Yamaha who came up with this brilliant idea. Later on I thought about it. If I wanted to aquire someones real nice. maybe new, fully decked out RSV all I would have to do is to spring for a new switch, remove the seat and tank, unbolt the switch and install the new one complete with keys! 10 minutes and im off.........Still not sold on the idea but at least I can now understand the reasoning behind it..maybe.....
  9. You might want to look in the classifieds to see if Rick Butler still makes the thumbscrew seat nuts. Makes removal and installation so much easier. You dont know what youre missing unless you have a set of Ricks nuts on your seat.
  10. Wow Bobo..glad to see you all came out of this unhurt. Could have been a lot worse. Glad it wasnt. Hang in there.
  11. Hang in there Kenny. My brother is also on Cumidin for multiple clots. Scary things those clots are...... Prayers sent.

  16. I know how passionate some 1st genners are about their bikes. I had one too, an 83. However, keep in mind that even though one may look to be in great shape and well cared for, those bikes are still over 20 years old and there could be much hidden damage. Age will take its toll on parts and mechanicals. My 99 is now 10 years old and the electrical system is showing its age. If its not one thing, its another...... Glad your enjoying your "new" bike Eddy.....
  17. Didnt realize it was already rejetted. Id say that was overkill. Sync offer still stands though.
  18. Very nice......congrats. Love the log home by the way......
  19. "When I rode the short bus I licked the windows so I could taste the world as it went by"
  20. Good Grief....get out of the house man and take a ride!!!!!!!!!
  21. Hey Salty, I tried a tank of regular and the bike seemed to respond much better then before. Maybe the colortune did it. Doug....yamastretch, if you make it up to Jax I can sync those carbs for ya after you finish rejetting them, or before you rejet them to see if you really need rejetting. Too bad I cant colortune them, it really makes a big difference.
  22. Update: you just cant make this stuff up.......... So im getting ready for bed and thinking of the dog and realizing that I missed her when the phone rings and its the owner. Seems that he had to move to an apt and had to get rid of the dog so he asked if I wanted her. Told him yes and hes dropping her off tomorrow. Found out her name is Xena...perfect with Zeus..lol. Shes 3 and has to be spayed. And I didnt play Lotto tonight ..........http://img.meetup.com/img/smileys/shock.gif Sorry there Mini.........
  23. Just wishing everyone who is heading to Don's to have a safe trip there and back. Wish I could have joined you all but it bees that way sometimes....
  24. Well, shes gone. Owner came tonight to claim her.
