  1. Last one, Kaleb, was 12 when we finally had to put her down. and, yes, it was bad. Sausages next time. Took her to the Vet today but she has no microchip so that was a dead end. She weighs in at 91 lbs, kinda like Mini.....maybe thats what ill call her.."MINI" She did stand up to Zeus too. I had them both on leashes just in case. Kinda barks like Mini too.....
  2. Nope, mini...not Virginia....LOL. Should be interesting to see if Zeus will relinquish some of his property. If I still have her ill probably post some pics in a few days.
  3. So, as I was driving through my neighborhood today I spotted a really sweet looking female Great Dane loose on the street. Nope, no tags either. Took her home, went back out and hung "found" signs and notified the local vets. Now the wait. Zeus is a little miffed but if no one claims her in 2 days then im keeping her.
  4. Yep, those lower fairings were kinda on the flimsy side too. I was bending them back and forth and it looks like that one mounting bolt location could be a source of future fairing breakage. They also tucked under the floorboard rather far. I can see some road debris busting it up too.
  5. Sorry buddy, but I plan on living forever.......... Squid, now that you mention that trunk, it did feel kinda flimsy when I opened it and I did notice the lanyard looked out of place. Saddlebags also had a scalloped inner front I guess to clear the shocks. It ate up some bag room. The Victory Vision a few bikes down looked much better than the Voyager but still not my cup of tea.
  6. Put me down for a SS Trailblazer and the FairTax......
  7. Glad to hear the surgery went well. I remember him hobbling around at last years MD with that cane. My neighbor just had it done a few months ago. Shes like a new woman now, ok, but shes still ugly though.......
  8. Stopped in at the local Kaw dealer where they had a new silver/black Voyager on the floor. Someone from Virginia already had a deposit on it. Salesman walked over to us as we were standing by the bike, looked out in the parking lot, saw my 99 out there and made the comment so, you're looking to "upgrade" from a Venture? Well, that didnt set quite right with me. Somehow I dont see it as an upgrade. But thats just sales talk I guess. As we talked about the new bike I pointed out several differences, from the warranty period, the lack of a driveshaft and the small fuel tank. He said the belt drive was designed for about 60k of service to which I replied well I have 60k on mine now and all it needed was a little dab of lube on it and its good for another 60k. Mind you I wasnt confrontational, just pointing out the differences. I did say that im waiting to see what Yamaha comes up with in the future as far as the Venture goes. I also pointed out the lack of a CB, rear speakers, etc. No doubt about it, this is a nice bike but after weighing all the differences, I think ill keep my 99 a bit longer.

  13. The Dragon is a very unforgiving road. Dont take much to mess up on it. Glad you ended up ok.
  14. I know this is kinda late but a brake spring installation tool would have worked just fine. You old timers remember those old drum brakes, right??
  15. I did almost the same thing to my 99 over the winter. Took the thermostat housing out, replaced the thermostat and the thermal switch and 2 of the 3 o-rings, mainly because the rear bolt on the back pipe wouldnt budge and since the other o-rings looked good I just left the rear one alone. Guess which one leaked?? Yep, the rear one. Took it all apart and finessed that stuck bolt out and found that o-ring was cracked pretty bad. I already had the parts on hand. Got my parts online and the thermostat was 30 something dollars. Glad you was able to find the right part elsewhere. Not a job for the faint of heart......
  16. Up to 26 now........
  17. I meant that its the first time that you didnt add one of your Boomer...whos...signature lines to a post. I look forward to them....LOL (Ruffy..who needs to get a life)
  18. Met a guy at Bike week in daytona a few years back with one arm missing from the shoulder area. Didnt think anything of it until i saw him pull out of the parking lot on a Vakl Interstate tourer..left arm was missing. I was deeply impressed at how easy he flung that bike around.
  19. WHOA.....this is a first.......ya slippin Boomer???
  20. So, is that the Blue Beast??????
  21. I just knew those "Rain Dance" lessons I recently took would pay off........ :rasberry:
  22. Mine came today............ And what a nice surprise.....a 100.00 bill was stuck in the folder.....hmmmm
  23. Still thinking of ya, JT..hang in there!!!
  24. More than likely your hearing the whine/chirp that is famous on these bikes. Straight cut gears and the clutch basket are the culprits. Nothing wrong but on some its louder than others. Now, you mentioned clicking sound. That may be a dry driveshaft spline. They will make a clicking sound when dry. Yamaha is very cheap with their lube. Also the rear hub might need some attention too.
