  1. Did that once with my lawn tractor, but I did have the chains hooked,,,,that was before I had a bike to practise with,,,, won't do it again no how,,,,, well,, not until the next time I do something idotic.
  2. Guess you got a lot of answers, so you really don't need mine.
  3. I always thought there was something different about you, wasn't really sure just what, but pond monster comes to mind. Can't blame Gary for bypassing KW.
  4. If you do all the above and still have problems, come back on the site and we'll help you clean those carbs real easy like.
  5. Met a rare person yesterday, she came all the way to Brantford to see me, she laughs, talks, walks, hugs and is real. She good looking, pleasant personality, has some good comebacks, and hangs with an awesome guy. Too bad you all won't get to meet her on the weekend. Her name is MARY, and she's not contrary, fact is, she's real nice, or did I say that already. No she's not my new wife, Marca is still with me (don't know why) she came with GaryN. I just think he wanted to show her off to somebody important (why did he pick me?) man,,,,,, I could have scared her off for good. All said,,, what I said is true and I'm looking forward to see more of those two this summer,,,by the way, she likes to ride.
  6. That means he's a nice guy and said it very nicely. I could tell it in more plain language but then who would come to dinner on Saturday in Kitchener?
  7. Now what do fence posts have to do with bikes anyways????????oh ya, I now remember that a 2nd gen needs to have something to hold it up straight so you can check the oil level at times, maybe not a bad idea,,,,,,or were you talking about hydro posts,,, around here we call them polls and a real good idea to avoid them at all costs.
  8. Hey Don???? can you change Gary's 99silver to Knucklehead,,,,,,I know he wood like it. And I do think that Shot is better than Shoot, it's shorter, easier to spell and we can be more sure of what is going to take place in the very near future. You can just never to too careful with all those gun toting Americans lol.
  9. When on your scoot and the motor running, you should be in gear, at all times, that's why neutral is where it is, hard to find. As mentioned, you need to be in the right gear at the right time, downshifting will give you that, where as coasting can leave you in a gear much too high to turn on the power if needed. Also, before you come to a complete stop, you must be in first, not after you stop, but just before. Often times that doesn't happen and then you have a second gear issue, or maybe a third gear issue and if you're making a left turn,,,,,,,,,,,good luck,,,,,,,don't ask me how I know,,,but then most of us know already from experience.
  10. About one hour on that, and I'd be looking for my VENTURE.
  11. Congrats Beautiful and her Daddy, it's been a long road to haul, but you made it together. Just awesome!!!!!!!!! Now if we can only get all the pet owners to start feeding raw,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  12. Did he have to use a mirror, another body, or did he discover the fact that it never was there in the first place?????????
  13. You got to own one to know one, and to know one is to own one.
  14. Hey Squeeze you're right they are Dutch,,, well would you believe,,, now we all know what Swifty's problem is then,,, he don't speak the right language!!!!!
  15. Remove the tank cover, side covers, lower faring, rad side covers, spark plug wires, baffle plates on top of the valve covers (make sure you hide these in a good spot so that the next time someone asks for them they will be right handy, like not on you MC)(also the one comes out one way and the other goes out the other). Now you need to take out the rad bolts and push the rad ahead slightly, remove the YICS that is in front of and above the front valve cover, it has 4 vacuum hoses attached. This can also find a place of permanent rest other than on you scoot but you need to run hoses from one vacuum port to another, I just crisscrossed them, not a fun job. Next take off the valve cover bolts, best to have a 10ml ratchet wrench for this job, it's worth the investment. Now remove the valve covers one out one way and the other out the opposite way. Clean and inspect, install new gaskets using a minimal amount of gasket silicone to hold everything in place. make sure you also replace the bolt rubbers as well. Install valve covers in the same place as you found them, tighten down all the bolts, they are shoulder bolts so keep turning until they stop, you can't over tighten them, replace all the rest of the paraphernalia that you so nicely took off, replace the spark plugs with new ones, install the wires etc etc. Be ready to have lots of patience, lots of coffee, good music and a warm shop. It can be done in one evening, but best allow for some enjoyment and make it a 2 night affair. Hope I got it all Carl
  16. Yep,,, sometimes I even have some 2nd gens in the driveway,,,,glad they make soap so's we's can clean up after them.
  17. Try this on for size http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090113/best_job_090113/20090113?hub=TopStories
  18. Not Dutch, German maybe, but not Dutch Maybe we should have a surprise party at his place just to give some much needed advise.
  19. Just put some Harley signs on it and it won't seem like it's leaking at all.
  20. Neat, but none of their links work, hope this doesn't say anything about the Carver.
  21. What causes the second gear woes is the wearing of the washer, if it didn't wear second could not pop out, but by wearing it gives some space to the gears and second being the power gear, naturally will take the brunt of the the problem. Fifth gear is on the same shaft but has no problem because it not used in heavy torque situations. In answer to your question, second will go at around 60,000 whether you like it or not, unless you don't use it or use it very lightly.
  22. Used to have a front mounted blower on my 16hp tractor. Still got the tractor (last I looked) but sent the blower to the grave yard. I'd much sooner use the walk behind, 10hp \ 28" cut. It handles much easier, is more versatile in tight spots, blow things (all things) much further, and keeps me from freezing up just sitting there. Beats a blade anytime as it does not pile up the snow and create more drifts like a blade. Nope, wouldn't even trade it for the 45" ones that are on the market today. Sometimes you can get too big, too fancy and you just end up going backwards. Your drive Don would take about an hour, 2 round trips to the road and then the parking area, maybe not even that long, mine takes an hour with paths going out the back to the burning pit and sawdust bin.
  23. Maybe it's the MP3 player etc. that makes it a full dresser.
  24. Glad to hear your story, sounds painful but somehow very rich, I can't explain it, but the feeling I got was sorrow mixed with love and a longing. Thanks for sharing, that's what we're here for, sharing and suppoting each other. Carl
