  1. I have a markland trailer hitch off an 83 venture that i will sell for fifty dollars plus freight which i estimate at 15 to 20 dollars more. Just drop me an email and we can work something out. I can do paypal, money order or wait for your check to clear. I don't know what other years it will fit. I thought i'd give you folks a chance before listing it on ebay. ALSO I HAVE A COMPLETE SET OF USED ROTORS THAT I'LL SELL FOR THE SAME PRICE PLUS SHIPPING. Ron
  2. A few months ago ebay came out with a new style format for our homepages. I had similar problems and corrected all of them by selecting to opt out of the new format option. Look around and see if you see something like this. Ron
  3. I am offering my 1983 Venture Standard (with 66K) and Champion Escort Sidecar for sale. I thought I would give you folks an opportunity first before listing it on Craig's List or eBay. I am asking $4350 for the complete rig. I will separate and sell it individually if anyone is interested in either. I would take $2000 for the bike and $2350 for the sidecar. I've put a couple of thousand miles on the bike since installing the sidecar. I will be taking some pictures if anyone is interested. The rig is located just off I75 near Cleveland TN. Drop me an email at ronandhazel@charter.net if interested. This is a good old bike with lots of miles left on it. Good brake pads and tires. Ron
  4. A few weeks ago you replyed to me about a cutoff valve for the radiator/cooling system. I will be coming by you place on Sat Jan 10 returning from a trip to Florida. It'll probably be in the late afternoon since my buddy isn't flying out of Orlando until 11am. I have your phone number and address from when I bought some parts earlier this year. If you still have this part and will wait until then just send me an email with the price. Ron
  5. Had both mine replaced in late January 08. I was out 11 weeks from work. I love my new knees and I can do things I haven't been able to do in years. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to ride anymore so 6 weeks after the operation I took the old Venture on a spin. Up shifting hurt a little but I was able to hold it up easily. I am 60 and would recommend it to anyone whose doctor recommends it. I also had them both done at the same time. Everyone have safe and merry Christmas. Ron
  6. I have developed a leak coming out of the drain cock. It is a slow leak but I'd like to fix the problem. I checked the position it is set and it is aligned with the mark at about 2 oclock. I noticed that there is a O ring behind the the hex shaped front and I think the O ring may need replacement. My question is: Does this hex shaped item screw out thus exposing the O ring? Thanks, Ronnie
  7. I posted a problem I am having with my 83 Venture awhile back but haven't found a cure. The brake warning light is displaying at times. In the morning when it's cool (40's lately) it usually doesn't come on. In the afternoon after sitting in the sun it comes on within a half a mile. When I hit a bump it sometimes comes on. I have checked the brake fluid, etc. No problem there. I think it is a bad wiring connection or something along that line. So my question is: How do I unhook this so it doesn't come on anymore? P.S. you don't spell "idiot" like I did in the title above. Ronnie
  8. I have a problem with the low beam not burning brightly and I bought another switch on Ebay. Tried cleaning the old one with contact cleaner but it didn't help. I'll try installing it this weekend and see if all my problems go away. Thanks, Ronnie
  9. My problem is the brake light warning is displayed on my digital readout from time to time. The brakes are o.k. and I don't think they are the problem. Plenty of fluid in the reservoir. It will sometimes come on when I hit a rough spot in the road or when my speedo starts roaring like the old 1st gens do from time to time. Then sometimes it will not display for serveral miles. Has anyone had this problem? I'm leaning toward a poor electrical connection. Any ideas? Ronnie
  10. You can pick up a Tour Glide Fairings on ebay pretty cheap. They are basically the same as the Road Glide for a whole lot less. Only problem is: your bike still won't go potato, potato, potato, potato, like the Harley does!!!!!
  11. I was down at Bob's before he went to Sturgis to pick up a couple of parts he just happen to have and he showed me this bike he is refurbishing. I didn't even realize it was the same year as my bike. It looked rough. But, I'm sure it will be looking good in short order. Please post the final results so we can all see. Ronnie
  12. No you are not!! I noticed this when I installed my sidecar on my 83 Venture. When I get on it pretty good it tends to pull to the right and when I let off it pulls some to the left. I didn't have this on a Belt Drive Harley that I had a sidecar on. I thinks it has to do with the drive shaft. That would transfer to a bike without a sidecar but it wouldn't be as apparent. Ronnie
  13. Jeremy, You need to remember all the Ventures riding around that rarely have any problems. If you go by what you read here you'd think that this is the worse motorcycle built. You just hear about the problems here.
  14. "One a Day Highway", that's what alot of the local enforcement call the Tail. One seious accident a day during riding season. On bikes like ours your biggest obstacle is not getting run over from behind!
  15. I was glad to read about your father progress. Hope everthing is smooth from now on out. Ronnie
  16. Go ahead and put that sidecar back on and meet my Wife and I at the International Rally Next August in Ark. Ronnie 83 Venture, 03 Champion Sidecar
  17. I was having all kinds of trouble getting the brake bled on my Sidecar I just installed. I wanted a completely seperate system so I can easily detach it without having to bleed it everytime. I also wanted brakes in case the ones on the bike failed. I used an old shovelhead master cylinder and proceeded to fill and bleed it. I was pulling alot of air with the Mity Vac and couldn't get it to bleed properly. I removed my bleeder and wrapped some Telfon Tape around the threads and put a wire tire around the hose on the bleeder. I then opened it slightly while using mininal vacumn. I got most of the air out but the brake pedal still wouldn't push fluid on it's own. I left the hose on with some brake fluid in the hose and let it slowly drain into the bleeder. After doing this several times I refilled it again and put the end in a jar with fresh fluid. I open the bleeder and let it sit all night. The next morning I repeated the process and went to work. When I can home that afternoon I closed the bleeder, pumped the brake pedal and had brakes. Sometimes it takes a long time to get all the air out. The pistons are so small and air compress so easily. Hope this helps someone in the future.

    Good Video

Your a dirty dog, and that's what I like about you. Ronnie
  19. I had to replace mine because the clips were getting weak. I replaced it with a single in line fuse that uses the colored automotive fuses. You might carry a voltmeter and the next time it does it check the clips and see if your getting power across the fuse. Ronnie
  20. I've been reading your posts and I wish all of you the very best. Your family will remain in my prayers. Recovery from serious injuries is never smooth. Good days and not so good days. I hope someday to meet this fine Gentleman at one of the future rallies. Ronnie Key (From the Hills of East TN)
  21. The wife and I might be interested. Just keep us informed. May is a good month, April can be rainy and cool. And just think, one of the fine fellows running for president will be in office and all our problems will be gone. Well maybe not but you can count on a few of us showing anyway. Ronnie
  22. I want to thank you for pointing out this webside. I puchased a steering damper that fits VW Beetles and it cured all my problems. I used a U-Bolt and attached in below the caliper and attached the other end to the sidecar bracket. Worked Great!
  23. Same here, choke, start, maybe 30 seconds after taking off I turn choke off even in sub freezing weather. I'd get a tuneup and work from there. Ronnie
  24. Yes, but the turnsignals are flashing rapidly.
