  1. Totally agree, the crest hit a year or so ago and now the decline has begun and will likely continue for the next few years. Kinda like the tatoo fad I suspect Lol...
  2. We use white helmets for travelling, much cooler than any of the darker colors.
  3. Nice rack, I've travelled many thousands of miles with mine and have had no issues at all. It does make the bike feel a little less stable at parking lot speed, but you don't know its there once your speed is up a bit. Nice Job!
  4. Exactaly correct, its an extra step but an important one.

    Billy Mays would be impressed.
  6. Thats what we do.
  7. Exactly, I've used mine for a few years and found that about every once in awhile they have to be dissabled and cleaned (very easy to do). They seem to get a black residue on the metal rods that causes them to stick a bit. Once cleaned they operate perfectly. Be careful to put the rods back into the tube they came from, I clean and replace them one at a time to be sure.
  8. Exactly! The mechanical sync of the carbs set at lower RPM should continue to be sync'd through the throttle arc. You would need to put the bike on a dyno under load to "safely" check for accurate sync for anything more than slightly above idle sync.
  9. I put a narrow slice of inner tube around the inside of my brackets, more to protect the chrome than prevent turning, but they do seem to be very stable and I've had no issues with them spinning when I put pressure on them. Good luck with that.
  10. Ausome video! I forwarded it to my kids. Amazing!
  11. It is kinda ugly but at the same time very impressive. Congratulations on your purchase, whats with the gigantic license plate thingy at the back, kinda looks like the snow flap off a snowmachine?? I'm sooo jealous.
  12. I don't own a Zumo but my Street Pilot 3 will lock-up occasionally if I've loaded the maps at "high" detail. If I load the maps at "medium" detail, I get no lock-ups. Must be some kind of memory issue. When it locks, I hold down the power button until it shuts down then a restart and its fine again for a while.
  13. I've had my passenger headset squeal a couple of times on me, both times though, the connection was wet due to rain. Its never happened to me when my connections were dry.
  14. Come on Squeeze, don't jump on the poor Canadian just because he doesn't agree with you EH!!! Gossey did a nice article on setting float levels, I'm printing it off and keeping it for reference purposes. I just don't think people should be led to believe or encouraged to delve into a job as involved as that in search of just better gas mileage, thats all. They are more than likely just going to create more problems than they solve. Thats just my opinion though.
  15. I agree with your first two sentences, the over flow is set for emergencys like a stuck needle valve and I certainly agree that its important to have the float level set correctly in order to prevent fuel starvation or fuel loss through the overflow. Sorry though, your last paragraph is just just nonsense.
  16. I don't think so, the over flows shouldn't let the fuel get above a certain point inside the carbs. I had a needle stick a few years back, the engine ran completely normal but gas was flowing out my overflow line by the air filter. If you had a hole in your gas tank and then plugged it you would get better mileage after plugging it, its somewhat the same analogy, if your float is to high your lossing gas, but not through combustion, to remove your carbs just to check your float levels in the hopes of increasing your mileage doesn't make sense, unless your lossing gas out of the overflows. If you have to remove the carbs to clean them or perhaps replace the needle & seats then by all means checking the float levels and adjusting if required would be wise.
  17. If I don't have raw gasoline running out of my carb overflows I don't understand how float level adjustment would have any effect on my gas mileage? Isn't the float just basically an on/off valve between the fuel pump and the carb? To low and the motor starves for fuel, to high and raw fuel is fed to the bowl faster than the motor can burn it resulting in excess fuel running out the carb overflow hoses. The jets control fuel mixture, not the floats, at least thats what I've been led to believe.
  18. I used a set of brake pad shims I purchased from Dennis Kirk, they seem to work quite well and were fairly easy to install, just trim to fit. I didn't do the rear, only the fronts. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=191268&store=Main&catId=416&productId=p191268&leafCatId=41602&mmyId=
  19. Quite common for the oil seals to fail, not so common for the air. You might try changing the valve in the filler stem, its cheap and easy to do yourself, might solve your problem.
  20. I just replaced my Venoms with another new set of them, the old ones had 20,000 km's on them, could have taken them further, especially the front, if I had needed to. Great tires.
  21. Wonder why he didn't just give her one eye?
  22. Exactly what I was thinking, you would probably roll like a beach ball.
  23. I saw that picture and story about a year ago.
  24. I stabalize my snowmobiles every spring. The snowmobiles have winter gas in them when they are stabalized and I have had no ill effects in the many years I have been doing so. I would assume that everybody with snowmobiles are doing much the same as I am. So at least in the area that I live, winter gas and stabalizer doesn't appear to have any compatability issues.
  25. I've wondered about that as well. How many years is the stabalizer good for. I bought a large bottle a year ago because it was on sale, I'll have enough for another year or two now. I think as long as you keep the cap on snuggly it will be okay for quite a long time. At least thats what I'm hoping. (Stabalizer for the Stabalizer, to weird)
