  1. For those who know, why does the '88 have less advertised power than the '83? The '88 has a bigger bore, and slightly bigger carb, and a little more torque, but the rest seems the same, yet the '88 is advertised with 11PS less power? What would account for this difference? Just askin'.... -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83,88 Venture
  2. I need to change by brake pads. Now I would like to know what kind I should purchase. I have seem several types advertised. What is remommended? Organic, Kelvar etc. I know on my 33 plymouth I used the metallic dustless pads but I haven't seen anything advertised for the bikes but Organic and kelvar on ebay. The ones I have now seem to be ok as far as dust but I know the back pad only lasted 1 year or about 8k. I use and believe in the friction zone and perhaps that is why the rear wore out so fast but I don't care I like the fricion zone expecially in this Houston traffic. Any suggestions/links to which pads I should consider? BTY Just ordered the Stelbel horn and Carbon One bracket to replace my current horn. thanks
  3. I cut my windscreen down and went a bit too short, now I am getting blasted right in the eyes with the wind. If this stuff works as advertised it would be the perfect fix. Anyone used it? http://www.saeng.com/4000.htm
  4. As advertised in classified http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php/cat/12 Cheers
  5. For those who have 550's; Just got back from a 4300 mile ride, Zumo locked up three times. Would not respond to anything. The solution is to unscrew the battery, count to ten and replace. It all comes back to normal. Also discovered that some of the route calculations involve some trully idiotic combinations - I guess the programing guys in Mumbai are not as swift as advertised! Also, don't blindly follow instructions ! this thing will repeatedly send you on secondary dirt roads and even off a clif if you are not carefull! Fording streams on dirt roads ain't my bag on a 900 pounder ! Yess, it did happen.
  6. These days I find that most products rarely come-up to what's advertised. But today I installed a Mix-It2, so that I could hear my satelite radio and the Garmin at the same time without an overall reduction in sound volume and quality, and without having to use a switch. Not only does this thing work as advertised but it has taken all static out of the system and improved the sound quality. And not just on the XM but overall! I am not generally easy to satisfy, so when I find a product that truly exceeds expectations I figure they deserve a little word of mouth advertising. www.mixitproducts.com
