  1. Yeah, but I have a walking stick and they're starting to call me tripod.....
  2. Went to the Docs this afternoon. Nice lady and we got along great. She said my hemo's and ferritins are low, but not that low to produce the symptoms I've been experiencing. We're going to do a poop test to see if there's any internal bleeding and then do a colonostophy if it shows positive. Mean while they're going to order up an EKG. She thinks if might be ticker related. My dad died of a heart attack and my younger brother just had a 6 way about a month ago. So I do have weak heart genes, although this has all come on in the last 2 years. In '09 at Cody I felt fine, last summer at Cody I was having a hell of a time.... Especially with the high altitude.... So nothing definative yet, just want to be able to walk a block without feeling like I'm going to flop over....
  3. Did a google on one for info, read a couple of articles, and still don't know what it does. I gotta headache......
  4. I must have IE8 'cause I got tabs. But alas, I'm also running XP and can't go any newer.
  5. Wow!! 17KW.. 20KW.... I sure am glad I don't live in a place where we loose power for any length of time... My EU2000 Honda is enough to keep the heater running, a couple of lightbulbs burning, and the TV/VCR working for the kids.... Longest we've ever lost power is 12 hrs. And... that time all I had was a 400watt Honda generator and it ran all day on a 1/2 gallon of gas. I have a friend up in the foothills that when they loose power it can be for days at a time. He has an 10x10 brick power building. Batteries/Solar, LP Genset/ wind. He can last 2 weeks or longer without power and not even notice he's off the grid......
  6. I've been runing Trend anti-virus for over 15 years and have been very happy with the results, but..... this year after I renewed on my machine and tried to install it on the family laptop (they allow 3 installs) I have run into a ton of user unfriendly snags and wasted more time that I want to admit.. I've had it!! So toss some suggestions at me... The laptop came with Nortons but I erased it per trend requirements before trying to install trend. Now I wish I hadn't, but that's life in the fast lane.... Is anyone just using MS Security Essentials??
  7. IMHO it really comes down to price, and depending on your age, how much longer you plan on riding. Since the Voyager is removable your bike will be more marketable down the road. With a Hanigan you're stuck with the trike and will have to deal with a higher asking price and smaller market. If stability is the reason for triking, I'd go with the Voyager. If you want to look good, and can afford it, go with the Hannigan....
  8. I used to have 8 footers in the garage, but Home Depot stopped carrying them, and I couldn't find anything on the web. So I don't think they're available any longer. 4' only. If you do know where they have a few 8' tubes left, consider yourself lucky and go buy them out. I had to switch the the 4's.... I also went to the daylight tubes. I now wear sunblock and shades when I'm in the garage for any length of time... ...
  9. Maybe so Jason, but I think you're making a moot point. You're not going to find any dealers stocking first gen parts unless they have a lot of dust on them.... and when ever I was able to order something from the factory, if it hadn't been discontinued, the dealer didn't care whether I had a T, DA or DAC. All they want to know is the model and year according to the list Prairie Hammer posted. There is only one instance that I have found where the VIN letter designation didn't reflect the model year, and that was the first batch of '84's that hit the US with 'D' in the VIN #.
  10. I outweigh you by a bunch and about the same age, but if the bike is sitting low or doesn't have enough air in the system, I can't get one up either.... OK no wise cracks... A good indication is you have a hard time getting your foot on the center stand pad. I know all about the 'technique', but when it's sitting that low nothing will help outside of riding the front tire up on a flat piece of 2x6, or setting the pressure higher in the suspension....
  11. I'm going in tomorrow morning for a consultation with a nurse practitioner. I'm a member of an HMO, Kaiser Permanente, so insurance isn't an issue, and I gave up smoking back in '89, so it's been 23 years and counting. I did find a lot of diet information when searching the web for info about Iron Deficiency Anemia, and I'm regularly eating most of the high in iron stuff they suggest. Plus I started taking a one-a-day iron supliment tablet along with Vitamin D and fish oil just because. It been a couple of weeks on them and I don't see any improvement. While typing this I just thought of something that might be worth looking into. I love popcorn... and haven't been able to eat any for about 10 years because I can't digest the kernals and they created all kinds of issues while going thru the system. Low hydracloric acid in the stomach has something to do with iron absorbtion. Maybe they're connected somehow?? I'm making a list of things I can think of that may be pertenent to the IDA for tomorrow. Just added one more...
  12. This is an old boating problem. The cure is to coat the fastener with silicon caulk, and then wipe it off. The silicon forms a barrier between the dissimilar metals and stops the galvanic corrosion.
  13. Try that on a Venture......
  14. I'm not saying the guy is off in LaLa land, but unless the thing has a lot of extras or under 5,000 original miles??? On the other hand, after adding up all the extras at OEM Venture Line prices, I found I had another 5 grand worth of bling hanging off my '99.....and if I punch in all the speed mods I can get it up to 65 hundred... and that's not counting the value of the bike... I know I'd never be able to get anywhere near what's in it, but it's fun dreaming and taking inventory.... Kinda like a hunter dreaming about the size of that big rack on his last buck.
  15. WOW!! Afterwards is there any glass at the strike sight?? Might be some crazy results....
  16. I've already had blood taken twice. The first test turned up low hemoglobin (red cells), and the secnd showed really low Ferritin Protene which is needed to absorb iron into the system and make red cells. What I haven't figured out is which comes first... the chicken or the egg?? Does the iron trigger the output of Ferritins, or do I need Ferritins before I can absorb iron?? I have been reading a lot of I-Stuff about Anemia, and so far haven't found an answer that makes sense. They even talk about the lack of Hydracloric acid and it being needed to digest food into iron?? There are other scarrier causes as well including colon cancer. I don't think this would be the problem as my family has never had a case of cancer...ever. I am taking a one a day iron tablet, and vitamin D and fish oil. And yes I have low testosterone... taking a patch for that. And the thyroids been dead and on a one a day for 30 years , which also has something to do with Anemia. Man after typing this... I think I'm a mess....
  17. Usually I don't post anything unless it's bike related, but I'd certainly like to get some real time feedback on something that's been rearing it's ugly head for over a year now. According to the Doc I am suffering from Iron Anemia... or lack the stuff in the system. The end result is I have low hemoglobin (red blood cells), and lately can't even mow the lawn without getting short of breath. I feel great as long as I don't move around much... I was actually experiencing symptoms when at Cody, and the altitude didn't help much either. Just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this and the outcome??
  18. No lightening here, but we finally got rain!!! It's been almost 2 and a half months of nothing, and that's during the rainy season...... With Japan sitting 13 feet closer to California after their big shake, plus all the rest of the major quakes and eruptions we've had world wide in the last two years, it makes one wonder if the whole weather scheme of things hasn't been altered....
  19. All those codes at the end of the year have always been confusing to me. Never have figured them out, and frankly don't want to. The only letter that's of any importance is the one in the VIN#. D is '83, E is '84, F is '85 etc. They skip the I and O because they look too much like the numerals 1 and 0. The easieest way to tell if it came off the line as a Royale or a Standard is if the bike has the CLASS system it's a Royale. If it doesn't it's a Standard.
  20. On #2, If you look closely you can sort of see the lock wedge that fits in the bag tang and keeps the bag from getting legs. Sometimes, because the lock is really dirty in side the wedge will not pull completely out of the tang. Take a thin knife blade and help it retract. When it's out of the way give the bag a healthy bump towards the rear of the bike. This should get it off.
  21. That's my thought. The RSV seat is really dished out, deep, and it won't let you sit farther back on the bike. That's where I ran into my problems. When Rick reworked my Pillow he tried to keep the saddle as high as possible. Hope it works. If not I did see a seat on Ebay that looks like it might work.... then again it might be an opitical illusion?? Here's a pic I saved. It look like the seat has been raised up quite a bit.... The maker did have the pic under the RSTD heading, but it looks like it'd apply to the RSV as well. Notice how the saddle cup has been reduced....
  22. You might need to turn on the accept cookies....
  23. I've looked at the Flanders Larry, but I need some distance between my gut and the grips, not less.....
  24. A new tire will help, but don't expect it to be as nimble as a lighter bike... Keep the tire pressures up to max... Another thing I found with mine was the steering bearing needed to be tighten. There's a write up on how to do it without tearing everything apart in the tech section...
