  1. When I first bought my bike and was trailering it from Ga to Florida I found out why you should have the nuts on. 80mph the seat launched itself off the bike and down I-75. Now granted had Ibeen riding it this would'nt have happened. I went to the dealer and bought 4 of the oem nuts for less than $5 and have never had one loosen up. Still have the two extra in my tool box. Guess I've been lucky so far.
  2. I don't really use it at all and have had it catch my pants leg on more than one occassion. Luckily the bike has never gone down but it was close once. I want to cut off the back part just haven't gotten around to it yet.
  3. I did this a few months ago and can say it was the best mod I have ever done. I'm not vertically challenged, I'm 6'1" with a 34 inseam, and tried the leveling links but that also raises the center of gravity on the bike. Makes it want to fall over even easier on tight slow turns. Lowering the front so the bike sits level front to back just about cured it and I have no ground clearance issues. Start to finish was less than an hour and that was with having to go back and print the directions. I used a bungee cord to hold the fairing out of the way which worked fine. I will say when following the directions it appears that there is a step missing. There was something I had to undo to get the fairing loose that wasn't mentioned in the directions but I can't remember off the top of my head what it was. Take your time, cover your tank and loosen up the wires as much as possible. Besides disconnecting them all I had to release a few ties also. Good luck with it.
  4. RIP My condolences to his family and friends but I do believe he has gone on to a better place.
  5. No problem. I'm always happy to give my .02:whistling: Actually on a back country road with an open wound in an extremity it would help till medivac arrived. Just make sure everyone carrying it knows how to use it. I've watched even trained professionals who didn't take the time to inservice themselves use it incorrectly and it doesn't do a thing.
  6. Quick clot works well when it is used what it was designed for and applied correctly. Deviate from either and it's just another granule mixture. However with that being said direct pressure and a tourniquet, I'm gathering we are talking severe bleeding if quick clot is being used, should still be used/thought of.
  7. I have a cousin Guido, literally, and luckily hes only a phone call away. What goes around comes around. I am a firm believer in the fact that you can only build up so much bad karma before it comes back to bite you in the ass.
  8. They do but not for a solo seat. I spoke with Hollister Wednesday and then went to the one in Ormond Thursday to confirm everything. Was told that as long as I could get a 2nd gen to come in to be fitted they would make it and send it to me. Just have to find someone willing to donate their time and their bike to have the mold made.
  9. Saw him yesterday I think in Daytona. I think it was last night. All kind of blends together.
  10. have a lot of time on their hands? I want Corbin to make a solo seat for my 2nd gen but the only way they can do it is to have a bike there. They say they have to make a mold and fabricate a seat pan. They can't just use a seat I send to them. They assured me it would not hurt the bike, they put down plastic and make a mold with fibreglass, and that any 2nd gen would work. Unfortunately I live in Florida so theres almost no chance of me doing it and my Wife absolutely loves her pillow top so a regular Corbin his/hers won't do. Anyone that has some time on their hands and wouldn't mind being a model please let me know. Thanks.
  11. They are completely drilled out. I need to replace them but I don't want loud. Just louder and deeper than a set of RK's drilled out.
  12. Sorry to hijack this thread but I drilled mine out and still want something louder/deeper without being obnoxious. Any suggestions?
  13. You don't!
  14. Everyone will have a different opinion but mine came with a pillow top and I hated it. Always felt like I was sitting on a wadded up diaper or something. I bought one of the earlier models and although it's a lot better to me it's still not it. The shape seems like it needs retooling and maybe a firmer foam, but I think it's better than the pillow top.
  15. I also lowered mine a little while back and love it now. I hated the higher center of gravity on these bikes. It affects slow speed riding something terrible and has the look of a motorcross bike it's so high. Now the slow speed handling is dramatically changed for the better. I tried the leveling links first and although that stabilized the bike it raised the COG which still made it difficult to do very slow speed u-turns. Now it's much easier to do all that and I have not had any problems at 100+ speeds. No wobble at all so the wobble described above is probably not from lowering the front. The only draw back is that it is a little more difficult to get to the air valves on the forks. Still can get to them but it's a little more difficult than before. That little setback though pales in comparison to the benefits of lowering it and none of the hard parts come close to hitting any speed bumps. I think this is how they should come from the factory. On a side note I have heard of problems, mostly wobbles, if you lower the bike and put the smaller front tire on it also. But to be fair I've also heard complaints of the smaller front tire wobbles at speed when there is a slight wind without lowering the front also. If anyone has any questions just let me know.
  16. Looking forward to it On a side note date joined might be interesting however anything that makes your title change by post count definitely just opens it up for post whores.
  17. I'm in, just let me know when.
  18. Lose control, yes. Fly in the air, NO. Snopes does confirm you will lose control because the speed control will try and accelerate but also says the flying in the air is an over exaggeration of someone trying to describe what it felt like.
  19. Giving people the excuse that it was just an accident is also giving them permission to drive around like there are no consequences to their actions. Yes I CAN throw the first stone since in the 25 years I've been on the road my actions have NEVER caused someone harm or death. Let me repeat that NEVER. All the people on this site seem to be good hearted people but I believe, and will never change my mind, that there are no accidents on the road. Put down the makeup, food, cell phone, lower the radio and pay attention. I do ride like everyone out there is trying to kill me so when that doesn't even prevent a very close call or worse then the person responsible will pay one way or the other. If they do me in there are 1000+ brothers out there to make sure some type of payment is made. If you truly believe that someone who is not paying attention while driving and does something wrong and hurts or kills a motorcyclist should be allowed to say it's just an accident then I feel sorry for you. You are whats wrong with society today.
  20. There are plenty of sites devoted to the Vmax. Depends on what you're looking for. Not much changed over the years after you get past 1992. A little here and there but nothing substantial that I can remember. Great bike and in a class all by itself. I had one for a long time, modded the heck out of it and will get another one here in the next year or so. Just a fun bike to ride although not exceptionally strong in the twisties or braking department in stock trim.
  21. I'm not going to get into a debate about what should happen. There are no accidents, if the person was paying attention 90% of the time there would not have been a crash. My philosophy is simple and I apologize for none of it. Violate my space while on a motorcycle and you WILL receive property damage or bodily injury. NO exceptions. Ridicule my way of doing things all you want but I guarantee someone elses life has been saved by the fact that those I have encountered now look for motorcyclist a lot more for fear of reprisals. Oh and by the way, flame all you want, not going to hurt my feelings or change my mind one bit.
  22. Much cheaper unfortunately not quite available yet. It shows on the website but it was on BO as of December when I tried to get it.
  23. Those are the directions I used. Pretty basic and didn't take too long.

    new tires

Thanks guys. I ran Avons on the Vmax and was quite happy with them. metzlers on the Warrior but it's a lighter bike and they are radials so that might be the difference. looks like Avons it is. You guys are always a wealth of info.

    new tires

Anyone have any luck with Metzlers? As a bike tire brand they work great on my Warrior so wanted to use the same brand on the RSV if they have been used successfully.
