I just recently received my Diamond R leveling links and would like to install them on my bike. However I believe I read somewheres on here that a standard motorcycle lift won't lift the Venture. I have the craftsman model lift that many other companies also stick there name on. Why will this lift not work, and if it doesn't is there any other secret to installing them besides going to a shop? Thanks for your help guys.

It seems like there is a disagreement of what year has the catalytic converters but look in the pipe. If one of them has what looks like a yellowish brick in it then it has a catalytic converter. As for the brackets Squidley sells them in the classified section here or there are plenty of posts on how to make one of 4 different styles.

How about picking 5 general places and 5 days. Each day you have to post a picture of you and your bike in front of that specific place. Kind of like a scavenger hunt.

I am not even going to try and say I'm not addicted. This site is one of two I frequent 3-4 times a day. At least they're both motorcycle sites.

Think I found a Good Oil Filter
WIKD replied to dragerman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Always found this article interesting when it came to oil filters. http://www.tobycreek.org/oil_filters/index.shtml I believe that Baldwin was bought out by Hastings so look at the hastings filter. -
Thanks guys. I checked and no yellow brick in either so I guess I'll drill away. Thanks for your help.

One of the studies I always found interesting is the purple gorilla test. It was published about 4 years or so ago to illustrate one of the reasons people hit motorcyclists. It was also used to justify that greater awareness of motorcycles is the most effective way to cut down on accidents. The general idea of the test was that they took 100 people (I believe this number is accurate but there may have been more or less) and brought them into a lab and had them drive around a neighborhood in a simulator. During their drive there would be sudden obstacles such as a child darting into the street, a car backing out of a driveway or a car door opening in their path. There was also a purple gorilla that walked to the edge of the road. I don't remember exactly how many but it was staggering, about 95%, that never saw the gorilla. They were able to steer around the obstacles but many had to be shown afterwards that the gorilla was not a joke but actually there during their test. Supposedly motorcyclists represent the purple gorilla to many motorists because they do not notice what they don't expect to see while driving. That is why they said education of the common motorists about motorcycles would be the most effective way to cut down on wrecks. If they expect to see you they are more apt to see you.

I was recently given a set of mufflers that are suppose to be off a 2006 Road King but the guy that gave them to me said they did not have catalytic converters in them. The part numbers are 65538-95 and 65539-95 and say they make 80db on a FLT 1340/1400. When I run the part numbers through google it says they are for a FLT just like on the mufflers which is a Tour Glide. The Road king is a FLHT. Also if they are the right part numbers how do I tell what year they are off of and whether they have the catalytic converters in them? Thanks for any help.

Many have stated, and I personally agree, that the group on rswarriors.com brought about the two recalls on the warrior. Especially since one of the recalls took care of a known problem that wasn't really a part of the recall. As a group, especially this large, it would be foolish of them not to heed the concerns as well as the praise.

Question about upper fairing
WIKD replied to WIKD's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks guys I knew someone here would know the answer. Mine will be coming off in a few days then. Goose I'll let you know. -
I was wondering if anyone knew what the chrome strips on the upper fairing were designed to do. Is it just looks? The only thing I could contribute them to would be airflow or rain but as small as they are I wouldn't think they do anything but looks. Also are they just put on with double sided tape? I have an aversion to chrome so unless theres a reason for them or they bolt on they are going to go. Thanks for any help.

I know when I wash it the button holes hold water. Don't think it would be a problem when riding. On a seperate note I will not be able to get rid of the passenger pillow top. After 10 years of riding on uncomfortable seats of my various bikes, my wife loves the pillow top. Since I bought this bike just so she would ride with me more often I definitely want to keep her happy. Looks like I'm looking for a solo seat for me. Either that or maybe pull the pillow top apart and try to firm it up.

Hey Bman I sent you an email.

+1. Its sorry that the only way these days to get safety violations addressed is to embarass the government into doing something. Good luck with it.
-
Good chance of it. Let me ask the back seat boss if she's willing to get rid of hers and I'll let you know.

I have a pillow top on mine and it's way to soft. Would love to find a regualr seat. If not I'll be going custom next year.

I wanted to be able to swith my MP3 player from my RSV to my belt for when I'm on the Warrior so I modified a headlight bracket from a bicycle. I'm at work now but will get a picture of it when I get home in the morning. Worked well, I finally got to use it yesterday.

Don't know about cheapest but I ordered mine from Diamond Accessories.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the helpful information. I ended up ordering the leveling links since I have very little mileage on the tires. I was given a set of RK cans from an 06. not sure if there is a converter in them but I'll be checking them soon. I did use the coozie idea yesterday and it worked well but was a pain to put the bottle back in the coozie, I'm thinking a barefoot Willies may be better, plus I want to get one for the wife too.

Thanks for all the info. helps out quite a bit. I guess I'll be trying the leveling links first since my tires only have 600 miles on them.

Level Links on - But steep angle on kickstand?
WIKD replied to seforeman's topic in General Tech Talk
Just out of curiosity I have heard to do one or the other, narrower front tire or leveling links. What made you do both and is the change even greater than when you changed the front tire?- 17 replies
