Let me start off by apologizing for these questions. I'm sure they've been asked before but having a hard time with searching for them. 1. I have read about changing the front tire to a narrower tire to improve handling. How does it do this? I was always under the impression that the closer the tire sizes the better the handling. 2. Is there a big firmness difference between the pillow top seat and the regular seat? I believe mine came with a pillow top and is way to soft for me. I was thinking of finding a regular RSV seat and use that if it is firmer. 3. Cupholders? I have read about a couple of them with pros and cons but was hoping to hear from someone that has had one a while and still likes it. 4. Why does my light come on and I go into reserve but when I fill it up it only takes 4.4 gallons? Isn't it a 5.9 gallon tank? Is there a trick to this? 5. If I remove the clear lowers on the bottom of the fairing will it direct more air to the midsection area? I love the bike but you don't get much airflow in the cockpit. I have also been toying with a lower windshield but at 6' I wasn't sure where the air would hit. Now with the tall stock screen it hits the top of my head. 6. Exhaust. I don't want something obnoxious but after riding a Vmax and then a Warrior I can barely tell the RSV is running. What kind of upgrades has been done to add some sound? Not loud, just louder or throatier than stock. OK that's it for now. I will continue to keep reading away trying to get some answers, I'm just kind of cheating doing it this way. Thanks everyone.

Today is the first day since I bought it that I could ride my new Venture. The question I have is, it's a 2006 and the speedo clicks more than sweeps. When going up or down it ticks just like the second hand of a watch. Just curious if that's normal, never seen it before.

Thanks very much guys. Yeah I'm riding a RSV, guess I should have added that. I'll be headed to Radio Shack today. Any real advantage to splitting the fairing instead of just plugging it in next to the cassette? Besides placement of the wire.

Sorry guys I tried the search first but it didn't come up with anything. Where can I get a wire to go from my Ipod to the bike? besides where, what would I be looking for?

Need your help with a used Venture

Well I got the dropping done quick. I borrowed a friends trailer instead of taking my own because he said it would be easier to pull empty. Told me there had been RSV's on it before and loaded no problem. Yeah right! I bought the bike and then had to load it myself. First problem is the sides are so narrow that once the bike was on you could'nt lower the stand. So there I was trying to tie down the bike while also balancing it and ......boom. Laid it over on the side. Finally got it tied down, not many places on the bike to attach straps, and headed home. Half way home the drivers seat blew off on I-95. Had to jog a 1/2 mile back and get it out of the weeds. All in all a very interesting trip but at least I have the bike. -

It's in south GA right off 95. I think I found a version of carfax for motorcycles. I'm going to ask for the VIN and run it and see what happens. With my Warrior I found a home at rswarrior.com, great group of people always trying to help out and inform. It looks like the same type of people here. Whether it's this Venture or another I'll be sticking around. Thanks. -

I thought I recognized that screen name. No the Warrior is staying in the garage, something has to keep the RSV company when I'm not home. 7000 in 2 mos is pretty impressive, couldn't do that on a Warrior and stand up straight. Thanks for the info on the extended warranty, if this deal goes through I'll make sure I take care of that quickly. -

Cool, thanks guys. The bike is a 2006 with 400 miles on it and the asking price is 13,000. Since most I have looked at seem to be in the 15,000 range I thought this was a good deal. I have spoken with the gentleman that owns it and he says he purchased it to sell it a few months back at a dealers wholesale auction due to it being repo'ed. He states he has all the paperwork to back up the claim. I was thinking that since I was looking at getting one in December or January why not go for a good deal now. I was just worried because it seems like too good a deal for it to be true. It's also in GA and I'm in FL so it's about a 4 hour ride to go look and I wanted enough info to make a decision on the spot. Thanks again. -
I am scheduled for a surgery at the end of next week that will keep me from riding for about 3 months. After that I was planning on shopping around and purchasing a 2006 Royal Star Venture. Well it looks like I found a pretty good deal now so I may purchase before the surgery. The help I need is what to look for in a used RSV. I know it's only a year old and has less than 600 miles but the old adage of "if it seems to good to be true it probably is" keeps kicking me in the butt. Any advice on what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
