  1. Well, after 5 years on the RSV, I went to the dark side. Traded my 04 RSV for a 06 Ultra Classic. Please no boo's or hisses. Bought the RSV, it had 1300 miles, yes 1300 miles for $10,000 even. Traded it this week at Harley dealer for $7,000 which I didn't think was bad and picked up the Ultra. Its and 06 with 24,000 miles.
  2. I ride a 2nd Gen Venture with the pillow top seat. I can ride from sunup to sunset. Have a couple of friends who have replaced their RSTD stock seats with the pillowtop seat from a venture and they love them. There is a bracket that you can use to retro fit the venture seat to the RSTD, it is not a direct bolt on.
  3. Has anyone done the Flanders bars along with the Baron risers? I have the risers and still feel like I need another inch or so. Short armed I guess. By what I have read, I am not sure that just the Flanders along will give me what I need. Has anyone used both at the same time??? Thanks in advance SlimJim in Texarkana
  4. Glad that you are ok. I too made the list a couple of weeks ago. Hit oil while entering a entrance ramp that is curved her at home. Bike was slipping out from under me before I knew what was happening. I always wear my helmet, gloves, Joe Rocket jacket and Draggin jeans. Road rash galore on the Right side of bike, I was fine. Jacket has signs of rash on the right sleeve, and the jeans have the denium removed from the knee and hip area, but the kevlar worked just as advertised!
  5. I went with a shorter shield that I could look over. Did not like the buffetting that I got. I bought a clearview that is the same height as the stock RSV shield but wider. I love it. Yes you do look thru the shield, or I do anyway, (short person here) but it is shaped different than the stock shield and seems to move the rain better. I need to clarify here. With the short shield and my half trooper helmet, the buffetting was tolerable. When I switched to a full face helmet, the buffetting seemed much worse for me, that is why I went back to a taller shield. Now I am loving life again. Slim Jim
  6. I did not have a problem with the slow speed handling, I just wanted to flat foot the bike. It has made it easier for me to back the bike up. It has improved the slow speed handling noticeably for me. I only rode about 10-15 miles so I really don't know about hwy speed handling yet. I did have the bike up to about 65mph for several miles and did not experience any wobble, but that remains to be seen. I do like the feeling of being able to flat foot the bike at stops and, as stated, backing up the bike. The whole process took me about 3 1/2 hours, but I did take it slow and easy, refering to the post on here for advice. Now having done it, I think I could do it in well under half that time. Overall, I am pleased at this point, but hope I do not develop a high speed highway wobble as some have mentioned. SLimJim
  7. I lowered the front of my RSV today with the help of the post on here. Was really not that hard, just took it slow and all went well. I love how I now can flat foot the bike. I am 5'7" and was not able to flat foot the bike before this. I did not feel uncomfortable on the bike by no means, but it sure feels better now! The slow speed handling is better as stated in previous post. I am suprised at how much 1" changed the feel and handling of this bike. If anyone has any questions about the process just let me know, I will try and help however possible. SLim Jim
  8. Wife and I have the half helmets, (trooper style) and we dont have a problem with much wind noise. Like stated, you might have the mic facing the wrong direction.
  9. Just wanted to say thanks to all that replyed regarding my question about relocation of the passenger headset plug in. I just received my extension ( which I got for $2.96 plus shipping) that someone suggested. Works like a charm! You guys are the best! SlimJim in Texarkana, Texas
  10. I carry 100% of the time. Have not traveled anywhere that does not recognize my Texas CHL. Hope I will never have to use it. But have no doubt that I could if absolutely pressed. I will not have myself or my kids herded into a back room to be killed. I don't know what would be worse, having them see me killed first or for me to see them killed. Not to say that I could stop it from happening, but I would die trying! Wife and I both have our CHL. Both carry Glocks, also a Glock in the truck console and a Glock in each bedside table.
  11. I too am gonna try and find the 5pin DINN plug and move it to the driver backrest. I really appreciate all of the ideas and pics. SlimJIm
  12. What type of extension cable for a computer did you get, and where did you get it? If I take my headset lower cable in will I be able to get an extension? Thanks for the help SlimJim
  13. How involved is moving the passenger headset plug-in? I have read else where that some have moved the plug to the back of the drivers backrest. I was wondering how invovled that is. Does the trunk need to be pulled for this, and do you need additional cable? Just looking to place the plug in a more convient location for the passenger so they can plug in when already mounted on the bike. Thanks in advance SlimJim 04' white RSV
  14. Have not seen those particular ones, but I do have the Yamaha ones for the RSV. Love them. Helps in the summer to direct air onto the legs when open, and great for winter, close them up for more protection from the cold.
