  1. Good order in my books! One thing I will through out there to everyone tho..... do not ever put your mouth over the condensate line and blow it. The condensate area is where Legionalla forms and by placing your face that close to the tray and drain you run the risk of coming in contact with the spores that cause this deadly disease. I will always recommend you rinse the condensate tray and drain out with a quart of water and about an ounce of bleach mixed into it every year to keep it sanitized. Because you never need to add that extra thing to the list.... bad health. Glad everything worked our well for you.... and yes those traveling repair guys dont come cheap! :mo money:
  2. heat pump heater Hi, I saw you post asking about heat pump water heaters. I am a plumber/gas fitter for a local school district and have just installed one in one of the schools. First you have to remember it is an air conditioner..... so any heat you take out of the house in the summer it is great nut in the winter you are paying for that heat. so think about where you put it so you are not heating an area with the furnace so you can cool it with the water heater. If you have a garage that you do not care too much about keeping it warm then great. What we are doing is changing out the 75 gallon electric tanks sitting in school boiler rooms that run upwards of 100 degrees in the winter from "waisted" heat and capturing that heat for the water. It only runs on the electric immersion coils if the heat pump cannot keep up after a time period. So far so good.... this summer we have the only air conditioned boile room in town and it is great. All the trades like to make sure their equipment is in good order in that room on hot days. Tankless water heaters are great... I have one in my own home... The joy of being a gas fitter.... I can have what I want in gas. Nothing beats a tankless that is properly sized and installed. Anyone that questions them just needs to go to Europe and Asia where they have used them for decades. I have had 4 sons my wife and I using this unit... one of the first on the market in Canada... for about 6 years, you think girl use a lot of hot water... try teenaged boys. Yes it needs to be serviced but so does your car and your bike if you are going to own it. Had you serviced that old electric tank you have had leaking it likely would have lasted 2 or 3 years longer too. If tankless is an option.....do it..... you will not regret it.
  3. The best 3 things you can do with your first gen to help with shakes/vibrations etc in the front end are: 1. Fork Brace 2. Progressive springs 3. Head bearings. This assuming you have a good set of tires already mounted. The fork brace is the most inexpesive and easiest to do... start there. After all it is just money...... ooh and your ass depends on it! :mo money: :mo money: :mo money: :mo money:
  4. Not quite as good at it but...... Just did the cone course a few weeks ago... every one was quite surprised when I did it 2 up. Fastest time they had was 1:01 by a scooter..... 1:17 by a goldwing.... we did the course in 1:39
  5. This "6 year thing" came to me from Dunlop when I was trying to buy some E3s for my 86. I consider that as a collector bike it is unlikely I will ever wear the tire tread or rubber down to any unsafe level but the tire will age out. So when my "new" E3 tires showed up and they were about 2.5 years of date I was puzzled. I emailed Dunlop twice.... I phoned .... finaly after a heated discussion with someone at Dunlop Canada they gave me a number to call in the US and I finally got a man that after getting some run around finally ended up reading to me the "policy on tire age" I was told that all motorcycle tires should be removed from service after 6 to 7 years from date code stamped. I asked the dealer for a discount on the tire or a replacement.... I ended up with Metzlers as all the E3s that the supplier had had the same date coding. The E2s I took off still looked good..... but I asure you after having a new set of tires under me... they were not good. They were date coded 01 and 02... roughly 9 years old at the time.
  6. It was a very long evening but we made it through. We estimated near 75 bikes of all styles came out to show their support for Jana The guy reading the eulogy looks nervous but he made it all the way through. http://youtu.be/paZyIhXhQnk pictures of the ride including one guy wearing a Venturerider.org shirt http://www.facebook.com/vibikers
  7. On July 1st the riding community of Victoria lost an avid rider. Jana as he was known loved to ride. He had moved to the west coast for work leaving his wife in Ontario, he had been here for one year. The driver that killed Jana was under a court order to not possess or consume alcohol, it is believed she was impaired at the time of the accident. Thursday July 14 we are organizing a 6:30 pm (PST) ride to follow the route Jana was heading for a beautiful sunny holiday afternoon ride to remember Jana. I hope you can take a moment and remember the tragic death of a good man. Yes prayers for him and his family are very much welcomed. thanks to all. http://www.vibikers.com/site/ http://www.bclocalnews.com/vancouver_island_south/sookenewsmirror/news/125173828.html
  8. I saw them before they left the west coast.... you need to start sharpening that thing NOW !
  9. don't know if you can do that.... but I bought a set of Scala rider blue tooth head sets for wife and I. Can answer the phone if we want or we can chat or have music.
  10. Don, can you tell me what the shipping up to Canada would be please. Is Paypal good? I would prefer the '09 gold color please. Kevin
  11. thinking of you and your family..... take care... it does become easier.....
  12. Ok, I am going to be the first to post pictures.... or at least try to. What a fantastic day... about 200 miles of riding and not a moment of it bad. Great location, great people, great food and a fantastic collection of bikes. Thanks Rick for setting this up, thanks Wayne... and family.... for coming out and creating this occasion for us to get together Kevin and Lori after all.... we don't want this to show up anywhere:
  13. Something wrong with my wife I guess..... she has only once complained of being hot and that was when we hit traffic on a freeway in 90* heat. Other than that she is always cold.
  14. Yup it has.... now we only have a 40% chance of 1-3 mm of rain. I will take that over the 90% chance of 5-10 mm that was up earlier in the week. Welcome to the Wet Coast ! :rain2: :rain2: :rain2: oops that is the West Coast sorry. See you in Horseshoe Bay on Saturday wet or dry. And if you do not like the weather ... give it 10 minutes........ Kevin http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cabc0322
  15. As a guy who has just gone through what you are now going through.... yes prayers are there for you and your family. Just so you know..... If there is angels on this earth..... they are the Hospice workers. Mom will be in very good hands.
  16. Clive, no you cannot get OEM from Vic motorcycle or Adrenaline.... both great places but only SG and Action have OEM. Most of the time they will not have much or anything in stock unless it is a "generic" part. That is why I like the Yamaha motor sports sight... it has the Fiche pictures with the OEM part numbers then you can call around with that or order them as needed.
  17. Glad you are here to tell us the story.... the bike is just a bike and a replacement can be found. You are well and that is the important part. Not to try and start anything.... just curious...... do you wear helmets in Oz ?
  18. Clive, if I cannot get it locally I buy it from Yamaha sports Plaza in Oregon. They have great parts lists on line with pricing for you to see costs. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ Been real happy with the service from them. :mo money: :mo money: :mo money: :mo money:
  19. Sorry we finally sent it south to you.... a large high pressure came down from Alaska and brought us a beautiful sunny warm weekend and ..... well now you have the cloud and rain. It was our turn... this may be our summer and we deserve sun too ! :thumbsup2:
  20. The ride is the high! Around here if you have more than one beer (on average) and you blow over a .05 on a breathalizer you loose the liecence and the bike on the spot. Then you start the payment game... to get the liecence back then the bike towing and impond... and possibly the 12 month suspention and fines from court if you are also over .08. We do ride form coffee shop to coffee shop and do some poker along the way... got second place last time out.... the best I have ever done
  21. A bit of time at a hydrolic line suply shop and you would have everything you would need to make a cross kit. I am not real familiar with the 2nd gen so not sure how to route it to look correct. I make pneumatic suply lines for the heating systems out of 1/8 inch tubing and fittings to hold 20 psi all the time.... should not be difficult to do for a guy that is good with thought and a few tools. This being said I assume the air fittings on the shock towers thread in and out.
  22. I think it is the Elite series tires made one with "Harley" printed on it..... same tire but more expensive cuz it says Harley. My brother has them on his big Harley
  23. Yes you should always check them "cold".... it was close to 100 degrees there on the weekend so you bet the pressure will change if you have the bike out in the sun too.
  24. Not exactly sure of the 2nd gen pressure but I believe 1st gen was about 12 psi so you must be very close. The 1st gens had a x-over to ballance the air equally... the second gen did not...... so yes they can be un even. Yours is kinda extreem but if someone that was unaware of the maximum hit that little shrader with an air line at the local gas bar yup 40 psi is there so fast you barely knew you touched it. As I understand it the best way to deal with them is to buy a small hand pump from a hardware or bicycle shop and hand pump them...... as close to even as you can. You may wish to "play" with presures to see how you like the feel of them. I don't know for sure but I imagine that the "progressive springs" are out there for the 2nd gens also... I put them in my 1st gen and love them.... and no more air.
  25. :sign yeah that: :sign yeah that:
