  1. Me too. On centerstand.
  2. New reality TV show. "Survivor Ad-Venture". I wonder if the FOX network will pick this up. Be the only reality TV show I would watch (other than American Idol).

    Ear Plugs

I read somewhere that you don't want the earplugs that are connected together with the plastic string as the string will actually induce noise into the earplug. Like the old tin can and string set ups.
  4. That's a good question. I bought one back in May '06 for my '06 RSTD. Diamond R called it a "Code, RSTDDD RS Tour Deluxe Drivers Backrest". But I don't see it listed on their website now. You should contact Allen at Diamond R.
  5. On my '06 RSTD, the speedometer read 8.5% high. The SpeedoHealer corrected the speedometer error, but now my odometer reads 5% lower than the Zumo. I know the Zumo is accurate, because I use it daily in my service truck.
  6. Put the E3s on my '06 TD. $93.00 for the front, $113.00 for the rear from local dealer, plus $56.96 to mount & balance both (off bike). Don't have many miles on them yet, but so far so good. Time will tell.
  7. Garmin Zumo. Can also add XM radio, weather and traffic.
  8. It works. Remove the stock horn (not bracket) and install Carbon One's bracket using the same screw that holds the battery ground.
  9. Like DragonSlayer said, remove the plastic plug on top of the swingarm. I couldn't get my finger in the hole and do any good, so I took a piece of #14 copper wire and bent a hook on the end. I then snaked it through the hole and around the universal. Sighting down the swingarm with a flashlight where the driveshaft goes, I lined up the universal with the wire and while holding the wire steady, inserted the driveshaft. Now I don't know if this is possible, but it seems to me that you would have better luck if the universal's U-joint is vertical. That way, it only flops side to side instead of up and down. That being said, if you could sight through the plastic plug's hole before you pulled the driveshaft and get the universal in the proper position (by turning differential gear), one might have an easier time. Maybe?
  10. What Pitbull described on I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne, with the wind, blowing snow and semis is treacherous in a 4 wheel drive pick-up. My you-know-what puckered just reading this post.
  11. petekadish, Last week, my dealer quoted me for the Elite III (just quoted, I have not bought yet): Front 150/8016 $79.00 Rear MV85B15 $106.00 Tires only, not installed. Grand Prix Motorsports, Inc. 3105 W. County Line Rd. Littleton, CO 80129 303-761-2471 grandprixmotorsports.com
  12. BuddyRich's idea of the fireplace insert is a good idea if the fireplace happens to be in an area of the house that the family is in most of the time. If it's not, you can install a free-standing propane stove. This allows you to "zone" your "one zone" (one thermostat) house. The insert or stove keeps the main living area warm. The furnace's thermostat can then be lowered. Most people like the bedrooms cooler anyway. If the furnace's thermostat is located in the area heated by the insert or stove, you should move it. I have a two story house with a gas stove that heats the main living area. I relocated the furnace's thermostat to the upstairs hallway for the bedrooms. Of course, at night you turn the insert or stove off.
  13. I think that the new 3.8 software revision is OK. It's the 3.0 bluetooth update that has been causing problems for some people (certain cell phones). You can update to 3.8 without updating the bluetooth. That is what I did and have not had any problems.
  14. With the rider's backrest, I like my stock RSTD seat also, but I don't think I like it that much.
  15. Garmin released software update version 3.80 on 12/20/07 (from version 3.30) for the Zumo 550. The one thing that I really like about it is that elevation is now five digits instead of just four. It use to be that if you went over the higher mountain passes, the elevation just showed "----". www.zumoforums.com has the info.
  16. Anyone even thinking about using a non-vented heater in a confined space should invest in a CO (carbon monoxide) alarm available at any home center. They only cost around $40.00 now. Very cheap insurance. Should have one in your house also.
  17. Every fuel fired machine (motorcycle, car, boiler) suffers power loss at higher elevations (approximately 4% per 1000'). The CV carb's throttle cable is connected to the butterfly valve which controls vacuum in the carburetor throat. Because you have less vacuum at higher elevation due to less atmospheric pressure, the slide won't lift as high, resulting in less gas induced. Not as accurate as FI, but it does work.
  18. While carburetors may be "low tech", these are are not your typical lawnmower variety carbs, but constant-velocity (CV) version. They automatically adjust the venturi size to meet engine demand which contributes to the smoothness. And since it's the vacuum on the diaphram that controls the fuel, they automatically compensate for altitude. As stated previously, these bikes run just fine at 12,000 ft. Having said this, FI is the future and it will be welcomed.
  19. The sad thing is that you are dealing with Morons educated way beyond their intelligence. Good Luck!
  20. I vote that your carbs need synced also.
  21. Did the 11 days, 10 nights land and cruise tour on Princess last year. Three days land tour included Denali and a 9 hour train trip on the Denali Express (VERY NICE) to Whittier to board the ship. The seven night cruise on the Inside Passage ended in Vancouver. If you go, I highly recommend getting a stateroom with a balcony. Unlike the Caribbean cruises, there is almost always something to see in the Inside Passage. It is well worth the extra money. We were very pleased with Princess "Heart of Alaska Cruisetours".
  22. I've stated before that while the Speed-O-Healer set at 7.5% corrected my speedometer, my odometer now reads 5% lower than actual, according to my Zumo GPS and like Freebird, watching the mile markers.
  23. Nodaker, thanks for the link to the Radiantz LED tail light. I got one and really like it. Much brighter than the stock bulb. PS, I put the old bulb in a plastic sandwich bag and stuck it behind the plastic cover on the saddlebag lid latch - just in case...
  24. I have the Garmin Zumo that I use daily in my '01 Dodge service truck with 195,000 miles. The Zumo reads EXACTLY the same on both speed and odometer. I had bought the Speedohealer for my '06 RSTD before I bought the GPS. I had set the Speedohealer for -8.5% using mile markers and a stopwatch. After the installation of the GPS on the bike, I found the speedometer to be right on the mark, however my odometer reads 5% less than that shown on the GPS. Bottom line is that I trust what the GPS shows.
  25. Yep. Although I never checked the odometer accuracy with a GPS before I added the Speedohealer.
