  1. Now to close the loop on this one. I received a call this last week and was told that the trunk was on order. I guess my email to Yamaha had the desired effect. Now to find time to bring the bike in to have the trunk replaced. Too bad the weather is starting to change. Why must we have winter?
  2. Just spoke to the dealer. He stated that I was not covered by warranty as Yamaha is saying that cause is overloading. I'm obviously not happy with the decision. Dealer explained that Yamaha told him to look for my VIN on a service bulletin dating back to 2000 and if the VIN is not there then it's not covered. What great service I got. He just told me to contact Yamaha directly if I wanted to go further. Hell he can't even give me a number to call. So I looked it up on their web site and wrote them. Now to sit and wait for an answer. How could the dealer not catch the fact that a 2005 VIN would not show up on a 2000 service bulleting. Great service I guess. Thanks for all the comments. I will post a follow-up when I hear back from Yamaha.
  3. Well it took a long time but as expected Yamaha came back to the dealer and said not covered:95:. Apparently my VIN is not one of the bikes covered by a service buletin. So of course they are blaming over-loading. I guess 2 helmets is too heavy for the trunk. Now to decide if I fight them on this? May be I should just fix it myself and get it over with. Thanks everyone for your comments much appreciated.
  4. So there is the problem. My 05 does not have those plates. When I look at the inside on the trunk all I see is ABS plastic and the bolt itself. Thanks for the pic. I will use that when I bring the bike in for investigation by the dealer.
  5. Are the plates in the truck or underneath? Any pics :photographing:would be great as Yamaha now wants the dealer to have another look. I don't know what they are looking for. More when I find out. Thanks
  6. I was cleaning out the rear trunk the other day and noticed cracks in the ABS where 3 of the mounting bolts are located. Has anyone else had this problem and if yest any issues getting it replaced on warranty? Thanks
  7. Thanks for the quick replies. Has anyone noticed if this inaccuracy is only applicable to the speedo or if the mileage is also affected. This is something I did not look at while driving. To busy turning right then left then right again on the blue ridge parkway. After 400 miles of left rights I was ready for some straight roads.
  8. I was driving down to Deal's Gap and was surprised to see my speedometer indicating 120 Kph yet my GPS was saying 111kph. That is quite a large difference. Is anyone else experiencing a similar difference ? HAs anyone approached theie dealer about it and if yes what what the response ? Thanks
